It's not a simple question though, is it?
Whether I do or not is not the point, however 24 hours is not enough. I want to own my shit, I don't want my stuff to be tied to a server forever. I can pull out my SNES 20 years on, play games the way they were meant to be played, you can never do that with always-online, they will close them down like they did the original Xbox servers (with people still playing online games!).
The thing is though the people still playing on Xbox 1 servers literally numbered in the hundreds and that's a generous estimate. Microsoft is a business. There simply was not enough demand, and by demand I mean actual players not the few obnoxious people who complained to justify paying for and maintaining ancient servers. And Xbox One will not be always-online anyway so your point is moot. It's not a simple question though, is it?

It depends yesterday I lost my internet 5 times because my ISP was performing maintenance.
But I tend to lose power and cable alot more now like once a week or more my cable and/or power goes out for some reason even when it doesn't rain I think it could be that they are updating all the wires somewhere near my house or somebody hits a pole.
Online activation is different. When they shut it down, they patch the game so its not required anymore. It's not a simple question though, is it?

Xbone is always on.It's not a simple question though, is it?

Yes, and every time I turn on my 360 or PS3 it automatically connects. What a world, and yes, I deal with it!

You should care. Nobody was paying to play Halo 2. The fact that you mad over games you probably don't even play anymore because it's freaking 2013 for Christ sake is baffling. Do you not understand that NOBODY played Xbox 1 except for a few dozen people. Oh no! You lost access to something you don't even care about. How will you ever go on? Do you not see the ridiculousness? And there is a difference between online activation and a constant internet connection.[QUOTE="Brean24"][QUOTE="SaltyMeatballs"]

Xbone has both online activation for games and is always online, but believe this "24 hour" spin, what happens after those 24 hours of internet downtime? You still require a connection. Listen to some of the things Microsoft are saying about the cloud enhancing games, sorry son, it's always online and you won't own anything except an expensive box which is controlled by MS in every way.[QUOTE="Brean24"] The thing is though the people still playing on Xbox 1 servers literally numbered in the hundreds and that's a generous estimate. OH good! Nice to see my UPS express shipping message has been delivered in time!
" Xbox ONE sucks! Deal with it!"

Take off your tinfoil hat for one second and think rationally. You don't require a connection for 99.99999999999 percent of the time. This has been around on PC for years. Get over yourself. Stop ignoring facts because you don't want to take your head out of your ass and realize that maybe just maybe a business that wants to make money is not lying because that would be stupid and not make any sense.

There is no "tinfoil" hat. What happens in 15 years when I want to play One games but can't because MS dropped support 5 years ago. Meanwhile.. like the other guy said. I can STILL play my SNES (and I care very much about it.. its **** awesome!) and my N64.. or my ps2.. or my ps3.. or my xbox 360... but not the One...
Â
edit: and yes I have internet most all the time... most.. but like another user said. Â The internet does NOT have access to me.. tired of this "big Brother" "check in with daddy every 24 hours" BS going on. Â
yes, doesn't mean game  on console should lock me out if some happen to it...  Every winter/spring we get blasted by the after winds of hurricanes that will simply knock out cable/internet in the city for at least a day. longest one was over 5 days. all i do during that time is catch up on SP games.
This. I'm a collector and crap like that simply makes collecting pointless. That's why I don't like digital distribution and avoid Steam games when possible. Retail, baby. What happens in 15 years when I want to play One games but can't because MS dropped support 5 years ago. Meanwhile.. like the other guy said. Not really. Hermits always complain that it's crazy to expect someone with a $400 graphics card to have the internet because apparently hermits are extremely anti-technology... which makes their owning such a high power computer a bit of irony, but that's how they present it. The way console folk here complain, you would think 90% simply don't have the internet, 9% have it but it's this terrible internet that they know simply isn't going to work when they want to use it and even when it does, it can't stay online for anywhere near 3 minutes at a time. Then there seems to be 1% that actually has the internet and are paying for a service that works on a consistent basis. This is a strange question to ask on an Internet forum dedicated to gaming...

To me, hearing this in 2013 sounds like someone in the 1940s hoping that devices don't start relying on electricity despite most Americans having stable electricity already in their house. Like those 1940s people, you're in for a very rude awakening about how the future will play out. As the access to the net becomes even more ubiquitous than it already is, we are basically guaranteed to see devices designed to tap into that resource.Yes, I do. But I don't want my devices to rely on it.

The Internet connection is not reliable enough to have devices designed to stay connected to it, unfortunately.
Many people around the world are experiencing disconnections and unstable connections, me included, so no, I do not want my devices to rely on my Internet connection. Let me have the option, turn it on or off. Not mandatory.
i have 2 houses, in my staying house i have internet connection in daily basis, but in my vacations house i dont, i know this is a thread to defend the always online thing and i find it very bad, if there are people defending these crappy moves then whatever this industry is going downhills..Â
i want to be able to take my console in my 2nd house and play in my vacations so yeah, xbox one isnt the kind of console i would buy ,also this thing is unmovable,it will be so heavy and big i will need a bulldoser to take it to my other home :P
