The irony of posting this on a website cannot be overstated.charizard1605
I was thinking the same thing...
No, in fact my Internet is down right now.darkspineslayer
HOW!!!!???? hahahaha.... unless you're posting on your phone. which i do quite often. ps, what OS on android to people use to post on gamespot. Opera used to be the fastest and most user friendly for forum posting, but they just redesigned it and went for the Dolphin crowd of being "feature" rich and slow and buggy as hell.... I rage uninstalled Opera for that.... I actually hate them right now.

OH! and I havent dropped internet other than a few power outages in well over a year....

I live about as far away from a major city or town that is humanly possible and my internet is on the majority of the time I am home. To put it in perspective, aside from a small store / Gas Station, the nearest store to me is Walmart and Albertson's which are 45 minutes away.
The need for internet is a dumb argument in my opinion. Anyone who can afford a console can probably afford the internet.

Yes. Do I want my games tied to a constantly connected wireless leash? **** no. Is it and my home network always super dependable? No.

I find this whole discussion around Xbox One a bit silly. All my devices are always online. My PC, laptop, ipad, even the TV is always online, and it's great. I don't see what's all the fuss about. And please 20 years from now I'm not going to be playing today's games, I'll have better things to do.

Simple question, curious to see the results.Brean24
Yup, I have WiFi that's always on. I connect everything to it (xbox 360, PSP, 3DS, Smartphone, IPad, Laptop, PC, PS3, Kindle, etc...)

Mine rarely goes down and is pretty stable, my bandwidth cap has been an issue on two occasions where i neared it. At times though it will grind to a snails pace and that's what makes me skeptical of the cloud being any use for use in a game's graphics and such.

I think the even bigger question is whether or not having 24 hour internet availability justifies having to connect to the internet in order to play a video game that one "owns."

I guess we will all say no to that...

For the record, I do have 24 hour internet access.

Most of the time. But it will cut out from time to time. Sometimes for a whole day.

Yes, I don't live in some third world shack where I would have to rub two coconuts and slap a goat just to download a kilobyte.

No bandwith caps and very good speeds(50MB/s down, 5MB/s up).

Yokels and poor people be damned.

It's not a simple question though, is it?

Whether I do or not is not the point, however 24 hours is not enough. I want to own my shit, I don't want my stuff to be tied to a server forever. I can pull out my SNES 20 years on, play games the way they were meant to be played, you can never do that with always-online, they will close them down like they did the original Xbox servers (with people still playing online games!).

I take it you're not a PS+ subscriber then.

It probably only goes down like one or two times per month for a few hours on average.

We sometimes used to bring our consoles on vacation with use so we could play video games one year we brought a SEGA Genesis and the next year we brought an SNES to the beach with us.
