[QUOTE="Ragashahs"]what spelling has suddenly come under scrutiny in forums now?the_h_bomb
I wasn't referring to your spelling
I was referring to your ridiculous belief that the Wii is not a current gen console because "that's what you think". It's like me saying that a Nissan Skyline isn't a car because "that's what I think". It is what it is and your inability to understand the english language doesn't change that
your point? as you said this is my opinion and i never said my opinion is fact. comparing cars to game console doesn't exactly work btw. anyway if you actually looked at my reason you could understand why i feel this way. maybe not agree but atleast understand. the wii is the smallest jump from hardware in any generation is basically a slightly more powerful xbox with a wii mote, but i'm not saying that bad but i do think that its unfair for people to compare the sales of PS3/360 to wii when they're aimed at completely different people and offer completely differetn things. wii is a family friendly consoles that cheap and affordable and gives fun for the whole family PS3/360 are for the older and adult crowd that still offer casual games but it mainly for core i'm not saying wii is bad in anyway but when people compare how much wii sales to PS3/360 i think it's kinda stupid technically yes wii is part of the current gen but its not really competeing with PS3/360 and other curretn gen consoles. the wii closer to the previous gen than this current gen which is not bad. at the end of this gen wii will probably sell teh most consoles becuase of its cheap and family friendly but will crowned winner but it really isn't cause the wii and teh PS3/360 were aiming to completely different crowdswhen i think of a next generation console i think of something that cleary is advanced from teh previous gen and so far most consoles have been like that except for the wii.Ragashahs

Which one is clearly more of an advancement?

Hey they tried to advance it, but ppl complained. But I do agree controller-wise,
yeah but its on its own agenda IMO. Its not really marketed towards the hardcore and pushing the gaming envelope the same way we were expecting the other 2 to do.
Its doing its own thing and will get its own kind of innovation and quality gaming. Personally i think the current gen console war is between the 360 and PS3. jg4xchamp
That one statement about the other two consoles pushing the gaming envelope makes me laugh. Aside from graphics, there has been NO innovation from neither Sony nor Microsoft with respect to gaming, to the point where it's basically the last gen with a new coat of paint.

my "point" is that the Nintendo Wii is a sevenh generation console, just as the 360 and PS3 are. You can call it whatever you want. Nintendo can call it whatever they want. Nintendo fanboys can call it whatever they want. It is what it is
A console's generation is defined by the date it was released, in this case the Wii was released AFTER the 360 and before the PS3 which puts it in the same generation as those systems. You cannot start putting console's into their own generations based on their power. That makes the XBox a generation ahead of the PS2, or in the case of handhelds the PSP a generation ahead of the DS. It's just a way for fanboys to avoid ownage
You CAN however say that the Wii is radically different from the 360 and PS3 (which it is) and draw conclusions from that.

Funny how some Wii games work better with the Gamecube controller. But, I agree to the fact that Sony's controller sucks when compared to, let's say the Xbox 360s.[QUOTE="BubbyJello"][QUOTE="Ragashahs"]when i think of a next generation console i think of something that cleary is advanced from teh previous gen and so far most consoles have been like that except for the wii.Stevo_the_gamer

Yes, If the wii is able to steal 3rd party games away from sony like monster hunter 3 and take away its factor 5 support, plus have tons of other 3rd party companies that are starting to support it. Then yes, It's competeing with the other consoles. If the wii can score goty's over its competitors then yes its competeing. Incase you havent noticed, in lost of review scales, Graphics is only 1/5th of what makes game good. And even then, art style is just as important as technical graphics. Silenthps
A "ton" ? I've yet to see any REAL support from 3rd party companies for the wii.. If anything M$ stole pratically ALL the 3rd party support this gen... Especially compared to the original XB.
but to answer the OP... ofcourse the wii is current gen..
and then you call hermits graaphx whores.
in the words of will wright(creator of sim city, sims and spore) ............
"the ps3 and x360 feel like better versions of the last, but pretty much the same game with incremental improvement. But the wii feels like a major jump - not that the graphics are more powerful, but that it hits a completely different demographic"

Excellent point. The Wii hasn't stole jack apart from Monster hunter and fatal frame and only one of them sells well. People need to realise that the third party situation for the Wii sucks in Japan and it's worse than the PS3/360/PC combo everywhere else.
The 360 and DS are the true winners of support so far this gen
Wii -> hardcore AND casual
360/PS3 -> hardcore
Not only is Wii directly competing with PS3/360, it is winning in sales and AAAEs. But I guess some fanboys would rather quit competing than lose to Wii.
PC counts, I played the amazing Bioshock with my crappy Dell and intergrated ATI and got pretty good visuals and framerate.
