I don't understand why japan can't perfect the 3D anime style at this point. The closest I've see is Guilty Gear Xrd, everything else is pretty lame in comparison.

they pretty much nailed it with ni no kuni, the art is fantastic in the game.
No, I have tried to get into "good" games that would fit into this category like The Last Remnant and Valk Chronicles, but I cannot get past the hideous animation styles, emo characters and disjointed/nonsensical plots. Don't even get me started on "visual novels" which usually fit into one of two categories - thinly veiled erotica or relationship simulators with the emotional context of a per-adolescent (given the emotional maturity of your typical Japanese game developer this isn't all that surprising). I treat these games the same way I tree regular anime. Sure you might find the rare gem like GitS or something that is good. But these exceptions are good DESPITE being anime, not because of it.
The Dragon Quest games are excellent regardless of their artstyle (which is Toriyama's style used in Dragon Ball).
Besides those games, there aren't that many modern (2005 - ) games with an anime artstyle that i can think of being impressed with, then again, i haven't played many at all. Modern anime art just doesn't attract me. There are plenty of exceptions (be it shows or video games), but on the whole a lot of the games with an anime artstyle that i enjoyed playing are much older, typically from the 4th and 5th generation, because i love the distinct style of anime they used in the 80s and early 90s.
Ni no kuni on PS3 was good, DBZ/GT fighting games were good back on PS2. I also play a handful of Mobile Suit Gundam games [I'm a fan of Gundams anime] like Battle Assault trilogy, Journey to Jabaro, Zeonic Front, and one of the Dynasty Warriors Gundam games.
Note: I only play one Hentai game and that was Bible Black game and that's all I'm saying.
Nope I only play manly fps games that gives you big muscles and stuff. Not these cutesy girly games for girls.
Sim game? No?
Golf game? no?
Fighting game? no?
Stratregy game? no?
Sport game? no?
Those few picutres i listed (some steam, non steam) and those games what are in steam are like 96% positive rated games. Like top games with Half Life and Portal quality. Even higher than Half Life 2 Episode 1 example. Steam and PC gamers love those games lol :)
.... well I kinda make an exception for anime games because a lot of them are way too f*cking cheesy and makes me feel like I'm talking to finalstar, but yes, there are some games I play despite their anime aesthetic.
In fact, I'm actually playing Trails of Cold Steel right now, so yeah.
In general no. I like a few ones like valkyria chronicles, tales of xillia (not the whole tales series), ni no kuni, pokemon that's about all I can think of. Like anime shows too many of them feels like for kids or really feminine guys.

I forgot to mention this but my all time favorite Anime game is, Queen's Gate: Spiral Chaos on PSP. Queen's Gate: Spiral Chaos was the reason why I own PSP in the first place just because them jiggles and boy, did I get a lot out of that one.
There's no such thing as "anime games". It's either a game or an anime, not both... unless we're talking about interactive movies (like School Days) or games with a lot of anime cut-scenes (like Catherine).
And what is Black Desert doing there? That looks nothing like anime, at all... unless you're implying K-pop girls look like anime girls.
I like anime that suits my tastes, by that same extension I can like anime games if it suits my tastes... there's a lot of crap out there though that only hardcore weeaboo people love that's neither good anime or game.
as long as the art don't put me off I can give them all a try since I like anime, just not the trendy modern kind where they try to sexualize every single girl just because that's how they roll to bait the perverts or the really cheap ones that tend to use the same frame for everyone and only change the hair style and color of the eyes. But I do understand the need to sexualize the girls because that's what sells but can't they at least, you know, be more unique like the Atelier series? This series started using a more modern art starting with the PS3 games but it's so absolutely gorgeous I just can't say no to something that beautiful even though the in-game environments suck balls.
I much prefer the anime games that offer a more unique art and diverse cast that is more than just a bunch of heavily sexualized anime girls with ridiculous skimpy outfits like Persona, Valkyrie Profile, Xenogears, Suikoden, Ni No Kuni, etc. Always been a fan of Akira Toriyama too even though all his characters look alike. With newer entries of DQ he's been trying to make it look more modern but still looks very appealing to me.

NOOO the horror. Not these types of games. PLS
(I do like some old school jrpg's though.)
Valkyria Chronicles
Now she sad :(
I like how that game looked but not the sequel because it went full generic anime.

lolno. I like Golden Sun, though.
this is one of the very few games I have played on handhelds and the reason I started playing it was because I liked how it looked like but the game itself was pretty good.

Yuk. Not interested in the kiddie-looking characters or theme. But, if someone makes an open world game based on Black Lagoon, I'll bite:
imo, one of the most overrated series.
Not nearly as overrated as Kill la Kill. That shit's awful.
On-topic: Yeah, I like anime games. Especially Persona and Danganronpa.
that shit makes me want to vomit. Funnily it's on almost every list of Top 10 anime of 2014 but anime has been trash for many years now one can't have high expectations for anything anymore. That new Ghost in the Shell reboot... Oh god. I knew that guy was gonna ruin it after watching some of his past work like Mardock Scramble. One of the most cheesy and pretentious anime I've ever seen about some prostitute that is being protected by an inter-dimensional mouse, a mafioso that collects body parts and has a vagina on his hand, gay dolphins on a cyberpunk kind of setting very reminiscent to Akira. It lured me in with the nice art but what a disappointment, and this is a guy that has won many awards on Japan for his sci-fi stories... I think he's name is Tow Ubutaka or something like that, to me he is the embodiment of mediocrity just like Toriyama from Square-Enix. His writing style reminds me to David Cage's because it's so pretentious and shallow.
