The counter attack system makes a return from Ninja series, which I kind of hate,it feel disconnect and sloppy...I prefer the Onimusha's style(strike through enemy in a flash).

But the way the protagonist dodges an attack form the giant creature look awesome.

Gore returns too,but feel out of place and totally not necessary?

And it seem they removed the souls absorb system....I have a mixed feeling about this.

The game was aim for 60 fps,it look promising in the trailer and those graphics still rock.

It is still a PS exclusive atm,but I won't be surprised if there will be a PC release, really looking forward to play this in 2016.

The PSX trailer:

Gameplay footage from an older version:

Reminds me so much of Ninja Gaiden. 3 in particular lol. it looks like it takes inspiration from souls too.

The combat will either make or break this game. it looks promising.

A Team Ninja game without Itagaki is like Real Madrid without Cristiano Ronaldo.

Good luck is all I'm saying.

It's very Ninja Gaiden-esque, will keep an eye on it and if it turns out even half as good as NGB then i'll pick it up.

@Snugenz: I thought it looked more like Demon's/Dark Souls (especially that bit where he takes out the enemy from above, and that bit where he gets an ally). Still, this game is on my list of games to get. Just wish they'd change the protagonist a bit. He looks kinda like Geralt :\

never heard of the game, but it seems like Way of the SAMURAI and Dark Souls mashed together out of desperation to make a hit game.

I like the art style and the setting, but I doubt the game will be any good.

Love the aesthetics. Still really want Ubi to make a Chinese or Japanese AAA assassin's creed because I love this type of samurai stuff. Looking good.

Yes! I've been waiting for a proper Hack'n'slash for years (because I refuse to buy a WiiU just for Bayonetta 2) and this one seems like it. I really hope its Team Ninja return to form. Dark souls + NG + Onimusha... whats not to like?!

It looks okay, a lot of good gore, but it's not exactly quick, and my larger issue is that when I think of good Team Ninja beat-em up games, they had enemies that weren't just getting their ass kicked. Their AI tended to be far more aggressive, which is what I like about Ninja Gaiden. Plus the counter system in Onimusha was strictly a timing window, if this is like NG, you're really just blocking with a side stop dodge type deal. Which works better when the enemies are ruthless.

First I've seen of it, I enjoy a good hack 'n slash once in awhile and this one looks great. Love the art-style.

@Heil68 said:

Looks more like straight up hack n' slash rather than a slow/plodding RPG. Though it isn't fast action like the old Devil May Cry or Bayonetta type games. Seems a bit more measured than that. I'm keeping my eye on it now for sure, whether it's a "great" game or just "ok" depends on how it feels. You can't really know until you play it with a game like this. Hopefully it involves a bit more skill and has lots of moves (as well as some decent upgrades or something).. I enjoy a good hack-n-slash, but sometimes they are a bit button-mashey if they dont' get the balance right or add enough depth.

I would play it then, but I tell you if its like dark/Demon souls or bloodborne, then I'm not playing it. I got to last world in Demon souls and its not my type of game, where you have to die that much to learn enemies, environments ect. I just dont enjoy myself.

I did beat the last DMC game, and I enjoyed that. Loved Ninja Gaiden, and the first 2 games on NES are some of my favorite from that system. Having bought and played 2, not so much and 3 was awful, but if this game is similar to that type of hack/slash with learning new movements, I would like that ad give it a chance.

I sent Demon Souls to a freind in the mail and told him he didn't have to bother sending it back..lol

I think the game look alike with the Onimusha series, and borrowed some systems from souls series(and Ninja Gaiden).

It is clearly more focus on the Hack & slash aspect, however.

And I prefer Onimusha counter system because it keep control in your hand, rather than in Ninja Gaiden, where they kick you out of action and slaughter enemies in cutscenes.

What?

Well.....maybe my english's issue.

But what I meant was the way the game play a pre-set move when you counter an attack,I don't like the lack of input on those scene.

Despite it's just 1-2 second,it build gaps between an intense action.

Which Ninja Gaiden are you speaking of?

NG is a block button, and you side step and do some dial a combos, there were quick slash type kills, but that was usually a specific move like the flying swallow. Onimusha is pusscake in comparison, it's counter system is they are about to attack, and you time your button press and it insta kills them. The beauty of it was that they built a whole difficulty setting around that, and it wasn't as generous as the timing for counter windows today. But automated, lacking input, and a world where Onimusha delivers anywhere near the intensity in action to Ninja Gaiden 1 or 2, **** the 2d games included? No, not even once.

Right, but that still requires a timing window if we're talking counters in NG2, quite similar to how Onimusha works, and more importantly requires you to de-limb them first.

Onimusha that counter you can do from the get go. If you get good at that game, you can turn the basic fights into lolcanttouchthis where you just quick kill everything. I'm not arguing one is better than the other, that's whatever, I quite like Onimusha. But NG's system wasn't automated or anything, and Onimusha of all things certainly wasn't more brutal about it either.

Oh,I made an error,it is because a counter attack in NG2 will dismember your opponent and usually follow up with a finish strike. That was what I meant.

Good call on chozo, which again sure, but that game depending on difficulty needed to be that generous with that de-limbing. Those mother fuckers are way more aggressive, especially spider ninja cats, ugh and those white ninjas. Fucking assholes.

I never did manage to get into the first game due to its art style. On the other hand, a few friends of mine who are huge fans of the art style (Studio Ghibli fans) absolutely enjoyed the game and will probably hype this through the roof.

Than I have no problem with the with the counter system in NG,what I don't like is their finish strike.Which now combine into one move in Ni-oh.

@jg4xchamp: He maybe reading on phone and fail to load those videos.

And I would argue that we have hack our way through NGB, :D

They do need a system to let skilful player fight in high efficiency(like the souls absorb system, but for 1v1 combat),final strike is a welcome to me but not with those cutscene.
