i wouldn't mind if changes are required to move forward with the game, and then the other disk will never be used again unless you start over.

I would mind if say, If i go to a city i have to insert disk 1, if i go to city B, i need to switch to disk 2, then have to insert disk 1 again if i want to go back, that will be unacceptable.

Kinda, but not enough for it affect game or console choice. l have a program for my ps2 that lets me run all my games from a HDD, so l never need to switch disc at all currently ^__^

How lazy do you have to be to not change discs every once in a while. If it's a open game like grand theft auto I can see you complaining, but rockstar knows not to do that. MGS4 wouldn't effect anything because it's linear. I did it for Resident Evil, and Final Fantasy, it's not that hard to do it for future games.

Only really lazy people would care about having to switch disks. Would it really bother you to switch a disk every 15-20 hours?

Switching discs was exhausting back in the PS1 era.

I hope people won't have to go through that, except the Lemmings. They need the exercise.

Eltroz

You were exhausted changing discs for the PS1? And you say lemmings need exercise.

What if MGS4 on 360 comes in 4 discs, what then?

OH Dear god no!!! Why have you cursed me in such a way? Why would you ever make me get up not once but 4 times. Curse all the animals that walk the earth, curse the sky and ground alike for me having to get up to change a disc 4 times.

Really how hard is it to walk from a sofa to a console and change a disc.

hey dont forget that you can open the case of the xbox 360 with your remote so half work done already

Its ironic isn't. Next they will be saying that they don't need rumble and then maybe cheering that rumble is coming back. Oh wait...

its not about the "work" of walking ten feet, its about how the pause takes you out of the atmosphere of the game. it takes away a bit of immersioncliff122316
so you never take breaks when you play a game?

Well a lot of them could be in the way people mind having a housephone that isn't wireless. Minding slightly and not considering particularly important is still minding.

Good point. I do mind to some extent, but not to the extent that it is a deciding factor in a console purchase or a game purchase. This thread is probably suggesting this kind of a thing, it being in system wars and all.

Depends on what it is for. If I have to continue switching back and forth between discs like in Driver 2 (half the city and mission data was on one disc, the other half was on another and every time you went from one of the 2nd disc cities back to the 1st disc cities you had to switch discs), then yes it will annoy me.

As for switching one every couple of hours, I could care less. Most games should be able to fit onto one disc anyways and compression and HDD streaming should be able to make up for the rest.

Any "cow" saying they mind switching disks is a hypocrite imho, considering some of the best games on the PSX were multiple disks

I forgot to say, i don't mind at all and the only way it would get annoying is if it was on a free roaming game like GTA, where if you walked past an imaginary line you would have to switch disks. TEH_rankie

that would be bad game design.

Yes I care, with my PS2 slim. I have the problem with dry air where I live and well in the winter when I change a game or movie I touch the middle piece and I get a little shock. Man I do hate shocks.

without looking at this thread, I can see that most everyone is saying no, something about scorning people for being too lazy to get up every few hours or so, and that the PS3 is "phail".

...and no, I don't support the PS3, and wouldn't mind swapping discs.

I've been switching disks for games ever since they came on 3.5 and 5 inch floppy disks... I wouldn't mind having to do it again one bit if the game's even remotely goodSpaceMatt

There are lots of people here playing with diapers obviously so that they can avoid getting up from the couch during their 10 hour gaming sessions.

Don't forget to load up the fridge next to your sofa with cold beverages and something to eat as well ;)

It's not if the consumers mind, it's if it is plausible in the first place without incurring porting costs, retail space, extra printing cost, etc.

the only game where it was annoying to change disks was in legend of dragoon, because in that game u had to switch disks to acess the areas from disk 1, and switch to disk 2 to acess the areas from disk 2and so later when back tracking this got actualy very annoying. In a normal case like FF9 or 7 where u just switch to progress in the story and that is it then i don't mind at all.
