Hell no, if I can't skip a cutscene, then the game gets skipped out of my console.
I don't care for some sappy story, I came to play games, not watch them, that's what movies are for.

You cried during Gone With The Wind?
@girlusocrazy:
Oh, you're talking about Nintendo games? That's a different story. I dunno why they usually stick to stationary cameras but they've rarely been an issue to me. Zelda BotW and Metroid have been good though. It's really only Mario games that make it like that and the only big one I've played recently was Odyssey. I didn't really find the camera annoying though since it's basically the same as it has been since Mario 64.
@SolidGame_basic: Never seen it. But you sound like you speak from personal experience on the movie 👍
You cried during Crocodile Dundee??
@last_lap:
So then do you only play Nintendo games? Because almost everything else that's not a sports game has some kinda story. That's gonna be an awful lot of skipping.
Yes and no when I think of zelda my favorite franchise I think of music, dungeons and story in that order all of them where lacking in BOTW even though the game is still my all time favorite game. While I like a good story I would say gameplay, music and graphics are all more important and in that order.
Sometimes, but not really.
Not to be disrespectful, but video game stories are kind of corny, campy. And I like that! But compared to novels, some good televsion, movies, etc. they're just not that good.
An elite few are truly epic in scale, though. But even then...still kind of corny.
No one should expect that video games, made for a mass audience, would have stories that compared to classical literary works. As we know, the tastes of the masses are different than the tastes of the social elite.
I doubt that even if video game stories are well-written, the vast majority of gamers will easily accept them. Gaming has penetrated popular culture and have become mainstream, and for it to be relevant, it needs to cater to mainstream tastes regardless of whether the hardcore minority like it or not. These tastes reflect the quality of stories found in most games.
