Well, I'm a female gamer and I think if you had asked me this ten or so years ago, I would have said yes. Because really, it just didn't feel like there were many three-dimensional female protagonists that weren't defined by their bust size. But, ever since Ubisoft came out and said that female characters were more difficult to animate, it feels like we've turned a corner.

These days, I don't really care anymore because there seems to be a nice mix. So, just give me an awesome character that is memorable.

Depends. Since the woke invasion i filter out sp games with female protagonists.

What did you do before the woke invasion?

Not avoid sp games with female protagonists.

So you played both of them?

I don't care as long as they're well written. If I have the choice to create one, I always create myself and go from there.

If you mean character creation then male, because I'm in touch with reality, unless a canon character is established like (for example AC Odyssey or KOTOR II) then I pick female, but thats really more to respect the lore, otherwise I don't have any preference. I enjoy good characters with good story (which is why Samus and Ada Wong are some of my favorite female characters), any female character that was written in as some woke point or female empowerment bullshit will immediately get dumped by me.

For most games I don't really care but I usually avoid RPGs that don't have a character creator. I usually create a female character for those.

That said, I don't let a female protagonist get in the way of enjoying a game.

The Last of Us 2 is still one of my top 10 favourite games (#2 of the gen after MGS5) Ellie I didn't mind at all but holy **** did I hate Abby.

MGS2 is still my third or fourth greatest game of all time (although MGS4 is #1 favourite game)

I've got some favourite male characters, but I definitely prefer playing as females. It can increase my interest in a game if it has a female protagonist or has the option to make one.

I prefer a good protagonist, no matter the gender.

As for games where you have to create your character, i tend to go with default most of the time, maybe i'll mix between female and male every once in a while, but again, i go with default options most of the time.
