For PC I already buy digital, but everything else still physical. There's something special about having a physical copy of a game you really like. Serves as a reminder of how much you enjoyed it. It's also fun to have for your collection or to display it somewhere. I also still like the fact that you can sell your games or let someone borrow them. So no, I don't see myself completely switching over. What about you,SW? Or are you already there?

I usually buy what's less expensive for console, but for pc it's obviously all digital. The second hand market is still a big reason to buy physical though. I do like playing a game then getting a little back for selling i when I'm done.

I already have with Xbox One, which I use for exclusives and current gen multiplats. I've yet to do this entirely with systems I only use for exclusives, like my Switch, the 3DS, or PS4, and Wii U which I don't really buy much of anything on anymore.

With Nintendo, I worry about rights retention issues so I haven't made the jump, with Sony it's concerns about online security of my private of my payment information.

Since I game on my Xbox One mostly, digital is a major convenience in game management. With a 2TB external attached, I can have a hefty amount of titles installed and having everything o it keeps the OS running smooth by keeping the main HDD clear. On top of that, I haven't had to fuss with the troublesome XB1 disc installation process, games install hassle free by download, and since it's all handled in the background, I can play my other XB1 installed titles while I wait. And it really doesn't take long now with my current ISP speeds, even the meatiest of titles can come as quickly as two hours. On a game launch day for instance, since games on the west coast are available at 9pm, I can have the game way before the midnight launch event of big titles. It goes without saying too, as a big purchaser of gaming media, it's nice not to have all that clutter in my room.

It's really nice too in the digital library management it breaks the games up between games I own that are installed, and games I own that are ready for download. I like this approach, it reminds me much of how Steam works, showing your library and differentiating between what's in your library and what's on your system. I hope the other companies take note of this. Haven't much experience on PS4, I know Nintendo use to do a download history approach, much like Xbox 360 had, I don't like this as it mixes EVERYTHING you downloaded, including videos, demos, etc. I don't like that.

It would be nice on library management end to have folders on the Xbox One. I'd like to have on just to queue up games on my blacklist I want to tackle, I've over 300 games in my digital library now on my XB1 and it's kind of getting too large to look through without overlooking stuff. It would also be nice to create a wishlist for myself to remember games that interest me but I don't want to spend the money right away to pick up, might even serve purpose in notifying me if the games go on sale either through sale special, price cut, or deals with gold promotion. Or if I find myself wanting something new but can't remember what in the past I want to play I can revisit my wishlist and take my pick. Plus, given that they just added gifting, it might make for a useful feature on that end.

My only real gripe with digital is pricing. For new games it's no issue for me, it's $60 at store or digitally. I also get 10% back through XBL Rewards as a end of the month rebate on my purchases, so money saved there. I also save about 10% in taxes buying digitally, so for those concerned about wanting to sell your games back to GameStop for a mere pittance, consider the savings I'm getting are well above what most games will go for when you sell them later, considering you're not the kind of person to sell games a couple weeks after you pay full price for them. I keep my games for years before I sell them so yeah, I come out ahead on digital purchase, and I retain my games which is most important.

The real issue with pricing is when game prices of physical media drop drastically after release, digital games though rarely see the same savings except through occasional opportunistic sales, but overall take much more time to drop in price. Because of this, I try to take advantage of sales of games I want should they ever arise. It would be nice though to see a more proactive approach by MS to get competitive pricing on the digital space better compared to pricing of PC services like Steam. Furthermore, I feel DLC pricing really needs to be addressed, especially as MSRP fluctuates. Season pass prices might be fine up front and early on, but as a game starts to age, that price should drop. And when there's sales of games that include the DLC bundled with the game, they need to offer the DLC at a discount for those that already have the games because we're getting screwed over there big time.

I only buy digital games if they're on sale. Otherwise, I am getting ripped off paying full priced digital games.

Pretty much am for PC. On console, I mainly get physical versions because they can usually be found cheaper i.e. used. But I find digital to be all around more convenient, especially for handheld gaming

On console I always get the physical copy if available. I used to buy physical PC games way back and share with my friends until we came across F.E.A.R. 2 which attached to a steam account (had to read the fine print on the back of the box) and before you knew it many games were like that.

Yes I do. I'm tired of physical media taking up shelf space. Only timeI buy physical is when there is a deal too good to pass up.

Already have, though not by choice, after the last PC game store in my area "refocused" their business, i.e. they stopped selling PC games.

Not that it's a big deal for me these days.

I have the same mindset as you. Although, being honest with myself, I've mostly gone all digital already and don't have much energy to resist it. Most of my physical games now are retro games

I've always loved physical media. I still cherish the physical media for all of my retro consoles and it is very satisfying to just hold them and look at them. However, for games that have been released over the last few years, I did something that I never thought I would do, I went completely digital.

The main reason that I went digital is because the physical media for games nowadays is not as great as the physical media for older games was. Nowadays, they half-ass physical media releases. They release games in cheap flimsy cases, some of them even have holes in the plastic. The game media itself is generally lacking in personality. I can't even enjoy the artwork on Switch cartridges because it is so small. And they no longer include manuals and other cool reading material anymore which leaves the case feeling empty.

Since they no longer put effort into producing cool physical media anymore, I don't find the physical media as satisfying as the physical media for older games, so it therefore is not worth it over the convenience of digital. If they still produced cool physical media with nice cases, cool designs and artwork, and nice manuals, I would still purchase physical media over digital, but since they don't do that anymore, I buy current games digitally. Thankfully, I will always have my cool physical media for retro games to enjoy.

Well with games, you get the same quality product either way. I do like physical but its be coming pretty damn difficult on PC.

Movies, the difference is night and day. Always physical.

Not counting games with gold or free stuff, I can count on one hand the number of digital games I own xD

But yeah I will never go all digital when it comes to video games. Or music. The day video game consoles go all digital is the day I stop buying them.

I'd say its way more convenient to pull a disc off an organized shelf than to have to manage external HD's or SD cards. Digital on Switch is going to suck

If digital copies begin to be sold for cheaper prices than phyical copies then I will make the switch to digital copies. For now, this has yet to happen and I will continue to buy physical copies.

Nowdays having to install the game from the disc to the HDD it's getting harder to think about the game as physical since actually the game is not running from it, the disk serves only as means of authentication and that's it, there's no difference from running the game from a digital download. I like physical but what the hell, for example, I only own like 20 X360 games in disc, the rest of my library ( like 180 more ) is all digital thanks to the update that allowed me to store games in external HDDs, most of my Wii/NES/SNES/GC/GBA/DS games are digital, got a bunch of digital PS2 games.

If digital becomes $20 cheaper than physical I'll consider it. No way I'm paying $60 for a digital game especially when I can get a physical copy from Amazon or Best Buy for $50 with their respective memberships.

Same here. When games are super cheap, whether through PSN or steam sales, digital makes sense... and I buy a ton of games in this situation. Easily the majority of my purchases are through these digital super sales.

If I'm buying closer to launch for a game I'm actually anticipating greatly, and paying $40 or $50 or even full $60, I definitely buy physical, won't even consider digital for a full price game.

The only problem I have with all digital is that if the service shuts down or the servers go down, you lose all your games.

I still buy physical PC games and I buy all my console games physical.

I only buy physical if it's some sort of special edition or I really want to own the box for some reason. I guess about 95% of my collection this gen is digital. It's much easier to switch games, storage is extremely cheap nowadays and I save a lot of space. I have a lot of furniture and boxes filled with "retro" games that take up way too much space.

When I first got my PS4 the first 10 or so game I got were all physical, because I was 3 years behind and those games were now cheap. Now, I usually digital because the games I want to play are usually on sale, and I'm more of a fan of the pros of Having digital games. I don't like swapping discs, I'm lazy, and I fear of discs being destroyed or scratched or even stolen.

With Xbox more so than PS that's for sure. With refunds for digital purchases, game gifting, BC a promise of your games playable going forward. Its pretty simple.

Came here to say this, though I find that Im slowly moving to digital for consoles too.

Last full price physical game i bought was Horizon Zero Dawn.

Just bought a 500GB SSD for Xbox One S (soon to be X) and PS4 during the Prime Day sale.

They had they Samsung Evo 850 500GB on sale for $130. I bought 3 (the limit lol)
