Depends, is it really on-rails? That's horrible in that case, Fable seem to be get worse with every release, Fable 1 was great thooo!
It was already confirmed that it's not. [QUOTE="vashkey"][QUOTE="Doct0rBiohazard"]A Kinect RPG? Very good idea Mr Moleneux  Why is this inherently a bad idea? Shallow gamers are afraid of new ideas. Not that surprising. That said I do think Fable got worse with every release and am hoping this one won't continue the trend.Depends, is it really on-rails? In my eyes, anything Fable has flopped since Fable 1. That was the last good Fable game. But flopped in sales? Probably not. People still eat this series up even if it does suck. There's some sort of fascination or gravitational pool that reels gamers in. Maybe it's because people want a good RPG adventure game and they keep thinking Fable will be it or they play Fable games to drown in their sorrow. *shrugs*

Yeah, it's definiely not. If somebody did it right, it could actually be awesome, but Fable: The Journey honestly just looks like an awful awful game.
I'm honestly expecting below 5.0, & I'm a Fable fan (I hate the look of this game though). It can't flop if there aren't any expectations to meet.
It didn't look great during the demo so yeah I think it will flop. Plus, many of the Kinect owners seem to be families who are not going to be interested in RPG's. I could be wrong but that's what it seems ilike to me.

Anything Kinect related is inherently a bad idea right now. They could literally replace "Kinect" on the box with a "Guaranteed shallowness" sticker.
Someone needs to break the cycle of crap, PM won't be the one to do so since he's a human "guanranteed to be crap" sticker.
I'll personally keep my expectations low because I don't see much will to uncrappify Kinect from MS and Kinect has far less potential than the rabids expect from it imho. At least it has limitations that dwarf the "potential".
It already flopped on stage.TheGrat1really? says who? you? nah, I actually think it had a good showing and showed it can be something of value. The horse concept is perfect for kinect and if they can manage a responsive magic system that feels intuitive and evolving (which is kinda what they showed) then it will be a fantastic game.

this last quote is scary... you do realize how hipocritical that is right? "anything kinect related is a bad idea"??? so you believe that gaming should stop evolving. period? we should still be playing on atari 2600 controllers because any new idea in gaming is inherently bad and under no circumstances should we allow it to develop... Nazi Gaming at its finest. I dont want by any stretch for motion controls to take over gaming but for the love of god, they can have a place in the hobby when implimented properly.[QUOTE="Filthybastrd"][QUOTE="vashkey"] Okay, well I don't see why an rpg using kinect is inherently a bad idea.TheEroica

It's a litteral step back in terms of reducing the "lag" between thought and action. Also, ironic as it is, the peripheral needs a peripheral in order to play "core" games, which would make it a Move.
Also, motion controls should be implemented because they make sense and enhance the experience, not to justify the existance of the device in the first place. Choosing dialogue options in ME3 will be easier by just using the controller that is required for playing the game in the first place for example.
Or take gun modding in Ghost Recon if you will. Kinect usage of the UI is literally a controller scheme with DA/buttons replaced by wide gestures. That's not an enhancement, that's something you stop doing because it's slowier than using that outdated controller that is actually capable of playing an FPS.
Sure, it's a great dancing game box if you're into that kind of thing though.
You seem to assume that Kinect will provide amazing things to consumers and that's fine, I just happen to take a "see to believe" approach because it has yet to impress me in the slightest.

if you think kinect is a step backwards then you are deluded, and just because motion controls do not enhance the experience for your gaming experience doesn't mean it doesn't enhance other peoples gaming experience, the success of the Wii this gen proves that motion controllers have actually expanded the gaming market, people who would never touch a game before are now embracing gaming thanks to motion controls, it's your opinion that kinect is bad for gaming and to be honest i don't like motion controllers but i see beyond my own hate and look at the reality that motion controllers in general ,including kinect, have actually had a positive effect on gaming ,the gaming market abnd the number of people who play games, gaming is for everyone including casuals, you really should quit with the attitude that somehow gaming has to cater to just your personal preferences otherwise it is somehow bad.[QUOTE="Filthybastrd"][QUOTE="TheEroica"] this last quote is scary... you do realize how hipocritical that is right? Kinect still has'nt done much, if anything, that makes it more than a webcam and it's current state makes unable to play "core" games. I don't think more Dance Centrals is a positive thing because I don't enjoy dancing much and certainly not at my TV.
Expanding the market is obviously a positive thing but is it to me? Will a hugely succesfull Kinect spawn more games that I enjoy or will it increase focus on the gaming sector I despise in the first place?
And why should I quit that attitude? Why should I embrace that is transforming my hobby into something less enjoyable to me?
As already mentioned I regard Kinect through a pair of "prove it" goggles and it has'nt proved much else than that marketing is effective imho. I'll have something positive to say when it provides me with something to be positive about,

This. I would really enjoy an RPG that used the Kinect for various reasons, but this game just looks terrible. Is it even an RPG? It just looks like a horse and magic sim to me. lolif you think kinect is a step backwards then you are deluded, and just because motion controls do not enhance the experience for your gaming experience doesn't mean it doesn't enhance other peoples gaming experience, the success of the Wii this gen proves that motion controllers have actually expanded the gaming market, people who would never touch a game before are now embracing gaming thanks to motion controls, it's your opinion that kinect is bad for gaming and to be honest i don't like motion controllers but i see beyond my own hate and look at the reality that motion controllers in general ,including kinect, have actually had a positive effect on gaming ,the gaming market abnd the number of people who play games, gaming is for everyone including casuals, you really should quit with the attitude that somehow gaming has to cater to just your personal preferences otherwise it is somehow bad.[QUOTE="delta3074"][QUOTE="Filthybastrd"]

Its on rails...PM said it wasnt on rails but when they were Demo-ing it live he said 'no its not on rails, there are times you can choose to go forward, left or right' meaning you can select certain ways to go (like on a train track)...but you CANNOT roam freely.
and call me crazy I liked Fable 2 and LOVED fable 3...I know im nuts.
[QUOTE="Danm_999"][QUOTE="Doct0rBiohazard"]Opinions, opinionsTheEroicaGranted, but it's not a very common opinion that Fable 1 was a masterpiece. My opinion is that the first fable was a bore, second was better and the third was the best... I like stories not the freedom to fart in faces. Fable 3 is the best one IMO I like games, and Fable 3 was a terible one.
