Do you think MGS4 will sell 1 million on DAY ONE?

When David Lynch releases a new movie the last thing on my mind is how much money it takes in at the box office.

If it's possible it will happen only because Metal Gear Solid has a fanbase in Japan as well as Europe and North America, while GTA doesn't have a fanbase in Japan.Couth_

I have MGS4LE pre-ordered at Gamestop, paid the full amount. 8)

I believe it will sell anywhere from 5 to 700,000 day one.

im not bashing mgs4 or anything-i have it preordered..BUT i remember ryan payton saying something about the sales= he said MGS4 NEEDS to sell 1 million on day one to recoup production costs....so do you think it will happen?

so with GTA iv being on MULTIPLE platforms and selling 609,000 on day one in UK and 2.5 million in north america......is mgs4 selling 1 million in one platform even possible?

Japan makes it possible. I'd say half the PS3 userbase in Japan will buy it immidately.....add in every other area, 1 million is almost a for sure thing.

You are forgetting that it will also be bundled with the 80 gig PS3. Chances are they are going to count those as being "sales" as well. Plus, this will also be the first MGS game to have a worldwide launch.

And as someone already pointed out anyway...the person who made that comment clarified a long time ago.

When MGS2 was out, the user base wasn't as big as now. Your point?

MGS2 was released on the PS2 with a user base of about 20 million and yet it still sold approximately 8 million. Not that many games sell 8 million on its release date.

Yes, MGS4 is a MUCH BIGGER fanbase in in Japan than GTA4 being in Japan.

Japan alone will probably be 300,000-400,000.

This may surprise you but at times MG has been bigger in America. Remember people that MGS2 was released first in America before it hit Japan because Kojima was paying his respect to the sales the first MGS did in America. Those sales being greater than that of Japan's.
