Do you think next gen consoles will have games that look better than crysis on max settings? If they cant then that means microsoft can stick with dvd next genbecause crysis fits on a dvd. I hope theres 1080p as a standard resolution on all games.

Yes. Consoles will have games vastly superior to Crysis. I consider that Crysis is half-way next gen similar to how Doom 3 and Half Life 2 were last gen.
There's always that chance they'll pull a Wii. But if consoles do indeed follow their usual progression and we get systems 3-5 times more powerful than current systems, we should get graphics much better than Crysis. Not to mention there's been improvements software wise such as DX11 that Crysis does not use.The games iwll probably just be of same quality for the first year. It all depends really if the next-gen consoles can do proper 1920x1080 resolution. Because this gen console can't do 1080p on anything more than a tennis game.

Thanks I needed a good laugh, anyway I think next gen consoles should have 1.5 gig Memory at a minimum , and yes I think they should strive to be able to produce those level graphics at least becuase if they don't then they are already outdated.
Perhaps. But the PC gets new hardware all the time. So it would be kinda hard for the consoles to get that amount of realism and depth (In terms of horsepower) that Crysis has.
We have games out right now that are about as good and in some people opinions as good or better. SO by next gen we should be up there and over with no problems. AND HD "1080p" games will actually be ready and in full use I would hope.
[QUOTE="ferret-gamer"]probably on par with modded crysis at least.Origami_Kill3r\ next gen games will own crysis. key word: modded. modded pc games can greatly outlast other games graphically. modded half life 2 can look almost as good as some of the ps3's exclusives for example.

Dude console hardware is top top top notch when it comes out. Next gen wont happen for awhile. Acting like the 8th gen will have worse graphics then crysis modded is crazy. And half life two modded may look comparable to older ps3 games but not current ones
Keep in mind that crysis will be 6-7 years old when the next gen consoles come out at least, so if its gives games on those consoles any competition at all it will be a true testament to the power of Cryengine 2 and the inferiority of console gaming.

modded crysis if it would last as long as half life would be able to obtain the same fidelity of the average game on the next gen console.
half life 2 on ps3:
Modded Half life 2
now lets take a pic of MAG for example
Im not saying that hl2 modded looks better than kz2 or anything, but this shows that a modded pc game from the last gen can match the an average graphics game of the current gen. And just to point out the modded hl2's textures do surpass anything in any ps3 or xbox 360 game by far including kx2 and uc2
Diablo II (2000)
Splinter Cell (2002)
Doom 3
Crysis (2007)
Granted these Pictures are far from the best example of these games (its the point that counts). Whats interesting is that recently these graphical advances have tailed off and the next step up
Uncharted 2
Is not really the step up 2 years should have given. That being said overall average graphics have (obviously) gone up quite a bit since 2007.
..
Crysis graphics will absolutely be beaten assuming that technology of consoles actually steps up to it in the next couple years (may well not happen). It will matter only to a select few on here..

Modded HL2 at 8XAA and 16x AF spanks anything the ps3 can do SORRY......

No I don't think so. Even if they do it will never have the draw distance of Crysis.
I think Crysis is overrated and is only remembered by it's graphics.

Have you played it ? It had amazing gameplay. No other game let me throw a dude through a house, snipe poeple at 1KM away, scale a mountain side which took 30 minutes and precise jumps just to go in the back way to a base.
not this gen. 512mb or ram cutting edge? Xenon cutting edge? PS3 cutting edge? nope, not this gen. And most probably next gen will follow the same trend. Consoles can't have $600 GPUs, or CPUs in them, that would make them too expensive and unsellable.Consoles have always been cutting edge at the start of a new gen. Next gen will probably be able to run crysis3 on max settings.

I think one factor is the maximum resolution of TVs. For the near future it looks like they'll probably remain at 1080p. Games will most likely be 1080p-native with heavy doses of AA and AF. Light/shadow/particle physics take a lot of processing power. The next-gen console GPU will have to be powerful enough to handle those along with improved textures. I'm also guessing polygon count will increase, making circles and round objects less "faceted". That means a much beefier CPU as well.
Those are all here now (on the pc). So, it's not too far-fetched to think that's where console graphics will step up next.
But graphics isn't what keeps me primarily on PC though. I still game mostly at the equivalent of 720p. It's the mouse and keyboard. If consoles started supporting M/KB more as options, I'd move the majority of my gaming to consoles.
Yes, because next gen consoles are defiantely goign to have multi core CPU's. but I'm talking 8 or 16 core minimum. GPU will hardly be required.Do you think next gen consoles will have games that look better than crysis on max settings? Also the one strength consoles have is standardised hardware meaning console developers tend to be able to optimise more effectively with resource allocation. Just the nature of things if you only have to consider one set of circumstances you can do alot more with less.new console are always close to cutting edge hardware when they release so Its quite likelyRichymisiak
There is a long period of testing, so the hardware in consoles tends to be behind what is available on release. For example PS3 is equipped with a custom 7800GTX, between announcement and release PC got the 7 series and then the 8 series. Sony threw out performance charts comparing with Pentium 4s in their first conferences, we had Core 2's when it came out.
The only reason 360 is a exception to that rule is because they skipped that long testing period; and we saw how that went.
They might look about like Crysis. The improvement from last gen to this one has minimal (i was expecting MUCH better), so i won't expect much from next generation. Boasting that next gen will look like a 5 year old game (by the time next gen releases) isn't a good thing and obviously means that the technology isn't improving as much as i would like. I will tell you what i am not expecting, i am not expecting graphics on the level of the of what i was expecting for this generation based off of the screenshots that were supposedly what this generation would look like.

I think you never touched the game. Wait, that's not right, I'm 100% positive you never touched it.
Oh I'm sure some of the people who criticise Crysis's game play have played it, some are just used to corridor shooters that hand lead you from one scripted event to the other.

Some of the top games are not even 720p.
Consoles are based on the current hardware when they were designed. Like the 360 was designed in 2004 and was released in 2005, so its 2004's high ended hardware within a certain price range. But with moore's law computing power doubles every 18 months, so by the time the new console is 6 months old, Pc hardware has already doubled in performance like with the 8800GTX in early 2006. I have no doubt when the next generation of consoles that they will produce better then what crysis can produce today. Thats because of the advancements Pc tech always goes forward when console hardware stays static.
The next set of consoles will have ethier Direct X 11, or Dx 12 depending on when they release them . But again as with the current consoles they are already years behind in abilites.
