PC was king then -- it's still king now.
But if you're talking console specifically then I doubt it.

PC wouldn't be considerd a console so that opinion is pointless in THIS thread.

No More Hero's, Madworld, Final Frame 4, and Manhunt 2
It does not matter what kind of 1st party games Nintendo makes. It all up to the third party companies and if they want to take a chance with it.

none of those games a FPS. The only good third party FPS wii had is metal of honor heros 2
Maybe, but first, they'll need to get rid of that 'games for everyone' attitude, improve the controller's accuracy and have up to date hardware.
If Nintendo can do these 3 things, I am pretty sure we'll see a lot of FPSes on their consoles.

Whats wrong with producing games for everyone? I recall something I said last night, people with attitudes like yours makes me think you believe gaming is some sort of 'exclusive' club that only certain people are supposed to be in, and you're offended if someone you don't think should be in your 'club' tries to get in. Gaming is for everyone, games are for everyone. Thinking otherwise will kill the gaming industry.
Maybe one of the big 3 will make a motion sensing controller that detaches from the sides or something, that way, you have a Wiimote type thing AND a standard controller.Nagidarcoz you cant pull the classic controller out of the wiimote? thing bout motion controls is use it too little and it defeats the point of it

Wow, your reading comprehension blows. Nice job. :|
We're talking about what Nintendo needs to do if they want to become the FPS king. As long as they have that attitude, you'll have developers like Cliffy B loling at the Wii and making games for the other consoles.
Now, do you recall me ever saying that 'games for everyone' is a bad thing ? Because I'm pretty sure I never said such a thing.
The Wii already is the best console for FPS. Nintendo just needs to give devs a hand making games for their system because some of the devs are more interested in making money on familiar architecture than making a truly awesome game with new hardware.
And devs need to quit being scared and put some truly awesome FPS on the Wii because it has the best control hardware, and the largest user base. However, as long as they keep pumping generic FPS to the 360 and PS3 users they're guaranteed to make decent money on a mediocre product rather than losing money on a great one.

Given the topic and the fact that you stated they needed to drop the 'games for everyone' attitude, it goes without saying that that 'games for everyone' is bad when trying to get FPS on your console. So maybe you should think before you type responses about someone else's reading comprehension blowing.

How ironic. Same thing could be said about you, since you obviously didn't read the other post. Let me clarify things a little:
I did say it was a disadvantage for Nintendo if they wished to become the FPS king. However, I never said that I didn't want games for everyone, which is what the other poster implied.

exactly. :)
As for Nintendo needing to drop the games are for everyone attitude. What part of Nintendo wanting to produce games for everyone is stopping third party developers from producing good FPS' for the Wii? Its not like Nintendo is holding a fire flower to the heads of the third parties saying, "Ok now, you CANNOT make a FPS for the Wii, that wouldn't be a game for everyone.".
If you wanna say Nintendo is only after the casual and non-gamer, then I say ok.. That would make FPS's more likely, as CoD4, Halo 3, and I'm sure theres other games that are FPS that are VERY casual.

It creates an image of the Wii that some developers don't like.
It may sound silly, but there are plenty of devs bashing the Wii for that.

no, i do not see anything like that

It doesn't have the largest user base for FPS. The reason you see so many FPS games on the PS3/360 and 360 in particular is because many FPS games are also developed on the PC where they were and still are king. So an FPS game will have much more market exposure on PC/360/PS3 than it would on the Wii. It's much easier to cross develop a FPS game for the PC/360/PS3 than it is to develop for the PC/Wii. You are also forgetting online player which is very ingrained in the current makeup of the FPS genre. N64 didn't have to worry about that aspect so it didn't matter. The 360 and PS3 (again the 360 in particular) have much more user friendly environments for online gaming in regards to FPS games than the Wii does. Especially if Live anywhere takes off further cementing the PC/360 cross developing strategy.

The Classic controller is EXTRA, if one of the big three did what I mentioned, there would be no need for an extra controller, you would have both all-in one.
