I have always wondered why companies haven't invested money for marketing the gaming division of PCs. The last time I saw a commercial for a gaming PC was about a year ago for the AlienWare MX11 but nearly everyday you would see that Dell Lollipop commercial for the Inspirion PCs.
It doesn't have to be promotions like "Buy crappy food from Taco Bell in a chance to win a Project Fiona!!". But buy a GTX 550ti and get -insert triple A game- for free.
I don't see why Nvidia, AMD, Intel, and other PC manufacturers haven't invested a little into a little bit commercial marketing for their gaming divisions. I remember several times seeing things such as DarkSiders for free with AMD Phenom II X6 CPUs, RAGE for free with Intel SandyBridge CPUs, buy a Logitech mouse and get Serious Sam 3 BFE free, buy an AlienWare PC and get a $100 promo gift card, etc etc etc.
Honestly why hasn't the "PC Gaming Alliance" done this it would be a win win for all of them. Intel could send in a little money to AlienWare, CyberPowerPC, Ibuypower, Asus, and other companies with gaming division PCs using Intel based PCs to start marketing them a little more heavily. Nvidia and AMD/ATI could do the same. Since more PCs are prone to be Nvidia n Intel paired and AMD n AMD (forever alone) paired the two companies could split the cost in money they chip in to PC manufacturers to mass market gaming PCs using their hardware.
They also need to get more Gaming PCs in retail stores that are set up for use that browsing customers can try out.
