Yeah, I do. It will be close though. But the PS3 just happens to be the best console out there and even this Christmas, it's the console to get!metalgear-solid

This generation? No, at generations end X360 will beat PS3 by around 5 Million units.

If it can't pass the 360 by the end  of next year then whats the point? They will have been in last place for the better part of a generation and by the time they catch up or pass- Boom! A new Xbox is on the horizon.

I don't think they are going to be in a position to do it this gen. 

Eventually, the PS3 will outsell the Xbox360....maybe around 2011.

But the bigger picture here is MARKETSHARE,. Sony stands to lose more than 50% of marketshare it held last gen. That alone is a huge victory for the Xbox360 and Wii.

Not really. The only "biggest seller" Sony has left is GT5. SOCOM is already out. FF13 will be on the Xbox360. God of War is amazing, but it doesn't really sell (it struggles to get to 2M). GTA is on Xbox360 along with exclusive content.

I know a lot of people on these boards make fun of home, but im currently in the Beta and im loving it and i think its going to be huge among both casuals and hardcore and once the PS3 gets a price cut i really think it will move consoles. If killzone 2 turns out to be great and again with a PS3 price cut that will also move consoles, I know this term has been used a lot but the PS3 is really future proof while the 360 is sort of getting outdated.. No wifi, no bluetooth, only standard DVD drive etc. Blu ray is starting to take off big also so that will also be a plus.. People want the PS3, they just think it cost to high, price will eventually come down and it will start selling a lot.

You guys have to understand that yes the PS3 has great games out now, PSN has greatly improved, great games are still to come in 09, Home will be great etc. If you think about it, Sony has almost fixed all the big issues it use to have and that is no games, not good PSN etc.. now all they have to work on is the Price and it will be golden.. If they can eventually cut the price of the PS3 and match the 360 price, i am 100% confident that the PS3 would dominate the 360 by big margins every month IF the prices of the PS3 and 360 where the same. they just need to work on that priceCODjon84

I'm also in the Home BETA and I think it's very lame. Very boring, IMO.

I highly doubt it will be a selling point to many gamers.

Exactly...and the fact PS3 games are selling badly proves your point. 

The PS3 will not catch 360...and even if it does, developers will still prefer the 360 since all those consoles are actually being used for gaming.

I guess the real question is, when PS3 eventually does overtake the 360 worldwide, won't it just be a hollow victory? They'll still only be in second place (Ninty pwns joo), and they'll still have lost a ton of marketshare.

The worst thing that can happen to Sony right now is the PS3 drops in price early next year...and the Wii drops right with it. Nintendo has yet to drop the Wii's price, why not next year?

Next gen will be interesting.  Who will come out with a new console first?  If the PS4 comes out first, will that mean that Sony had to abbandon the PS3?   If MS releases a new console before Sony, what will happen to the PS3?   

Either way, MS is in the drivers seat right now.   But what if Nintendo releases something that can compete with MS and Sony in terms of power?

Like I said, next gen will be very interesting.

one day near the end of the gen...2011 or so but at the point if the ps3 overtakes it who would care? and in terms compared to the wii in 2011 the ps3 and 360 will more then likely be MILES.....MILES behind so in the terms of the "war" it wouldnt make much difference. beerm_basic
