PS5 will easily win next gen.

Microsoft is going to give up on consoles. They lost 3 gens in a row. Never made a profit off the Xbox brand and hide the failure/money loser by combining it with other slightly more successful entertainment ventures.

It is only a matter of time before investors and head honchos say “screw it” and pull the plug. They don’t like losing even a cent. Best to cut the losses and end this experiment.

They have gone half hearted every gen. They closed down a bunch of studios last gen and have no games. They want to turn Xbox into a TV and streaming service.

Nintendo is Nintendo. They will eventually go 3rd party. Just a matter of time.

If by going third party, you mean...

...then yeah.

@nintendoboy16: Why do people keep saying this stupid statement that Nintendo will go 3rd party? I thought I heard it all! That will never happen and if Nintendo is truly ready to pull the plug, they would rather go out of business permanently then to go 3rd party and we all know how that turn out for Sega.

DBZ had always been for 13+ audiences. It just had to be cut for channels like Kids WB, Cartoon Network (before Toonami came on Adult Swim), and Nickelodeon.

I get he's a troll, but unfortunately, even legit SW'ers believe that bolded part. As for why they still believe it, I don't know. Guess, they've been ignorant to see their mobile business has been a wreck (their first mobile game is lasting less than the Wii U).

Sony is not big on BC. On PS4, they made masses of money making 'remasters' of the best PS3 games for PS4.

They could've easily given us BC with PS3 games, but no, they wanted to make easy money on remasters.

I think the same will happen with PS5. Instead of BC we will get remasters of all the best PS4 games.

I'm ok with that, as I've no intention of throwing away me PS4.

Not true. Cell architecture on PS3 practically rendered that impossible to do for cheap or easily.

@xxyetixx said:

@quadknight: both PS4 and Xbox One opted against BC, both had a user base around 80 million and both had digital libraries. Luckily MS made a 180 on this and have a solid BC offering.

I’d hope Sony isn’t that dumb but the stupid decisions companies make always amazes me.

I think we'll get it. Like I said, I think the main reason we didn't get BC on PS4 is due to shitty CELL architecture on PS3 and the fact most people weren't into digital last gen.

You're right that these mega corporations can be stupid but I don't think Sony will give such an obvious advantage to Xbox next gen by not allowing BC. Right now BC isn't a big deal but at the start of a new gen when games are scarce BC can become what drives sales and Sony would be extra stupid not to consider it. It's not like they can't do BC and sell remasters/remakes on the side.

I think so. Playstation is really THE ONLY console that's really consistent out of the 3.

MS and XBOX are confused and Nintendo is just starting their roll with success.

I see PS5 leading, Nintendo 2nd and Xbox in 3rd.

Who knows. It's not looking likely if Nintendo is sticking with the hybrid model while Sony gets caught up in another home console slugout with MS. Nintendo should come ahead if Sony doesn't plan on challenging that.

What, because morons sell their old HW. Underserved entiltlement in my eyes.

Or dildo brains think everyone else should live life as they do and take up space with old electronics. Expecting features in my new consoles that were introduced generations ago, imagine that?

Probably. But I'm personally not a casual or like to play movie games, so I hope not. Would be more fun to see some real games in the spotlight.

If they don't get lazy, or get too over confident like they did with the launch of PS3, I think they have a very good chance, yes.

That being said, the first few years will be tough, I think, because MS will use their Windows software money to buy exclusivities from 3rd parties.

Whatever happens, the company on the bottom will always play the "good guy" card. Last gen with the 360 owning the market share, microsoft hid streaming like Netflix behind a live paywall, and made gamers pay for DLC that was free on PC (left 4 dead.) Sony responded with free online and started the free games every month program we all have today.

Today with sony's domination of the market share, microsoft has adopted the good guy approach with BC and constant updates. Sony now, blocked large file mods, slow updates (how long did we have to wait for external HD support?) And wants to push PSNow rather than BC.

So no matter who is winning the race, you can bet the one in 2nd is working harder for your dime.

Ms are going to spend the next 12-18months being hey where here for gamers and playing to the core audience, based on what we know there is investing going on into the software offerings and we're expecting a play to be made via games pass, I expect a deal with some major publishers granting access to titles via games pass on day 1 of release, PSnow so far has not not done so well, and as of yet it's not clear what Sony is planning but their IP stable remains pretty strong. In all honesty this should be an interesting period as both major manufacturers compete for market share, Nintendo is interesting in that they are targeting a lower price point generally and bridge the market share of Sony and MS, they effectively offer certain things Sony and MS simply don't.
