Do you think these new game (and hardware) prices will crash the videogame market?

I expect people will be slower to adopt newer systems and buy fewer games/ wait for sales (more then in the past).

Might see more layoffs / studios closed.

The executives continue to get paid which is what's most important. Really nothing else matters

@DEVILinIRON: I think $80 per game is too much for the market to handle, yes. BUT...

In 1986, The Legend Of Zelda launched at $49.95, which is about $140 today. So, what do I know...

If all game companies jack their prices up to $80, it's gonna make things like Game Pass a whole lot more desirable.

I can't speak for gamers at large... Mostly, I feel my opinions don't match the overall... That said, I've never been more confused about the state of console gaming... Like, I don't want to touch it, get near it, look at what it's become... Yikes. Never thought it would be this way, but here we are.

Really worried about the 700 dollar+ next gen consoles their whipping up... Worried about game prices.... Worried about fees.... Just yuk.

@lundy86_4: "Crash? Nah. The markets been too well tested at this point. "

But people are saying the console market didn't grow.

@sakaixx: I did explain it to you, you just don't accept the reality.

To each their own, though. You are welcome to rationalize based off emotional reasoning if that's what you want. I understand why you're upset, like a lot of people, but I think you should focus that rage more on the governments engaged in global trade wars and the current economic situation.

Again, I just hope you were not championing Sony for raising their games to $70 as a "win" like the majority of cows did on this website.

I'm not the ones deflecting and defending nintendo. Your point in production cost on hardware sure I can understand but that is not an excuse for increase in games pricing especially when they price games in japan differently than rest of the world, excluding US.

Nintendo screwed the rest of the world, they deserves all the hate.

I complained when sony raises price to $70 and as result I have not buy any sony made game the whole gen not even Horizon or Spiderman 2. The only PS5 1st party game that I own is demon souls and GoW Ragnarok which I got as bundle when I buy the PS5. Probably will buy them someday but at a discount and not at $70.

@sakaixx: I respect that last paragraph that you are consistent with these complaints regardless of the platform.

I think that Nintendo should get a wakeup call about this one, and on the bright side I can still get Metroid Prime 4 on the Switch while we wait out this Switch 2 pricing fiasco.

If they didn’t crash in the 90s when games were more expensive than even the $80 that Mario Kart World goes for, it probably won’t now.

If it does crash, it would be for entirely different reasons (changing consumer tastes, runaway AAAA game development costs, etc).

@Willy105: In the 90s it was a niche thing though, now it's mainstream and the mainstream won't put up with enthusiast prices.
