Do you think Uncharted Golden Abyss will get a PS3 port?

Now don't start yelling but after the PSP version's of GOW and Peace Walker (among others I think) have been remastered for the PS3, I'm wondering if the same fate will become of UCGA and maybe others. Sony seems to love these HD ports.

And if it does would that kill interest in Vita?

Before you say they wouldn't kill their own product like that, well, I never expected them to do it with the PSP.

I don't think it will, at least for a while anyway. It seems like it's one of the most anticipated titles for Vita and if they put it on PS3 then it would possibly make Vita lose interest.

They'll release it maybe 1 or 2 years down the track when sales for the psvita version of golden abyss have dried up. Good cash grab for them really.

I don't think it will. Well maybe actually after God of War origins came out on PS3.

It just seems useless to me, but people will buy it

Well PSP is very much on its way out, Vita isn't even released yet. I really doubt they want to cannibalize sales of a brand new platform just to make a few extra bucks on a PS3 port.

But I really wouldn't be surprised if it happens somewhere down the road like has already been mentioned, probably on PSN. I bet PS3 or eventual PS4 fans will even ask for it. Kojima's Transfarring feature also sounds like it could be taken seriously. The fact its happened with the PSP brings an extra degree of 'buyer beware' to the Vita I think, like buying a 3DS now when there's probably going to be multiple revisions based on history.

Just a thought that crossed my still booting-up mind, only woke up an hour ago.

The PSP is dying though. I really don't think we'll see a Golden Abyss port, at least not any time soon. If anything I could see the God of War and Metal Gear collections being ported again(not likely though I think) to the Vita, like Final Fantasy X.

Hmm I never thought about it. It definitely won't be right after Golden Abyss is out but one day down the line I don't see why they wouldn't if Vita goes out on its way.

No. Possibly 5 or 6 years down the line it will be available on the next Sony console as an updated port. If you want the game then buy a Vita, its that simple. People complained about the PSP not having games but then would want PS3 ports of those supposed "nonexistant" games.

The game is first party, Sony is not going to hinder any desire someone would have to buy the game on Vita. That would be a terrible business decision

Maybe in a few years after release they will do ports. By that time PS4 might be on its way in. I have to say I'm really looking forward to playing Peace Walker on my PS3.

It eventually will, when the game is a couple of years old. Remember, mopst of the PSP's big games, such as the Syphon Filter games, the Ratchet and Clank games, the Grand Theft Auto games, the God of War games and Metal Gear Solid, all found their way to the PS2/PS3. I don't see why Sony would change its policy regarding this now.

That would be a very dumb move on Sony's part. Uncharted is their Halo... and its the only way the Vita is going to see any reasonable sales at 250 bones.

If there are 2 PSVita games out for Uncharted, then they will probably release a Collection like with the GoW games. Probably a year after the 2nd game comes out.

The addition of touch-based controls, even if (usually) optional, could change the long-term porting prospects of Vita exclusives. The ports could be done by removing the touch controls, but I don't know if Sony would want to compromise the controls like that just for a quick buck.

Comments from Yoshida, like this, also imply to me that Vita exclusives are probably somewhat more likely to stay exclusive than PSP ones.

"What would you say is the most important thing Sony learned from the original PSP?

There are many lessons we have learned, but if you ask me to pick one lesson… Before the launch, as far as the hardware goes we didn't put enough resources in the hardware to allow us to develop games that are unique to the PSP compared to home consoles. We had many products on PSP, but most of these games like God of War [Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta] came from the console. Basically, you can play a bigger, better version of these titles on PS3. So pre-launch of PSP we were too happy with having the basic capability of PS2-class games to play on PSP, in terms of the screen and CPU/GPU. But after the launch and a few years time, just having pretty graphics isn't enough. Especially when you can play a bigger, better game on home consoles. That's the one big lesson when we designed the PS Vita. Because it is portable and because it's a new technological development, we can put a touchscreen, touchpad, cameras, GPS, or 3G capabilities. We made sure that developers will be able to make use of these features that are unique to portable systems, so that with games we can continue to produce something very exciting that you cannot find on games on home console. So that's one lesson."

It most certainly will arrive at some stage on the PS3 and that is exaclty the reason I wont touch the Vita in the first place.

for the good of the vita i hope not. it needs those big hitters to tempt people. but sony have a fairly consistent track record of moving their handheld stuff to their console also. let me put it this way....if i wanted the game on a console then i would hold out for 12 months and see what happens.

No.

Longer you say? Sony doesn't want to give off the impression that all its games will be available on the PS3. It needs to sell the system, and if the games can be found on the PS3 (or PS4) a year after they release, why buy the Vita? Golden Abyss must stay on the Vita to make it clear that it is going to be its own system.

Peace Walker wasn't released until much later on the PS3. I bought it on the PSP and will, I think, prefer it on the PSP since it's handheld. Add to that the additional functionality of the Vita and I both doubt it will appear on the PS3 and that it would damage the interest in the Vita too.

With the amount of hype it's getting and probably being a huge seller at launch, you can easily see multiple versions on Vita.

I don't think he was just talking about original new IPs though. He stressed the Vita's capabilities, namely the touchscreen, touchpad, cameras, GPS, ec. as "unique to portable systems" and therefore producing unique content that you "cannot find on home console".

While mostly optional and gimmicky, Uncharted on Vita does make lots of use of gestures and touch. All those controls would have to be removed or badly adapted to Sixaxis and Move. I don't personally see it happening unless the Vita flops - at least not on PS3. Maybe on some sort of PS4 successor home console in the distant future, like 2014. If Sony takes some hints from the Wii U's tablet design they could probably make an exact port.

The dev's said it can just as easily enjoyed by those wanting normal mechanics or Vita's added features, a port would be a piece of cake. I mean all you have to do is watch some gameplay vids to notice its all tacked on, all they would need to do is change the puzzles.

So were Secret Agent Clank and Jak & Daxter Lost Frontier, (but I think that was a simultaneous release..). Ahh Sony.:P I don't really care to be honest. I'm excited for Uncharted 3 and the growth of the series, not a game on a handheld that looks about barely as good as the first Uncharted which came out 4 years ago.

i bet they will , just because they show it as vita exclusive dont mean it actually is for all we know its already ported,

-- theres a number of titles psp launched with was the same way

example

twisted metal head on-this was actually a updated twisted metal online with new maps , then was reported over to ps2 with even more maps and stuff

ape escape-a pure port of ps1 game of the same name

ridge racer- i say this was ported from the ps2 as well -ridge racer v w added stuff

gta vcs and lcs were exclusive but were later ported to ps2

then psp got a port of the ds game china town wars

--- so this could very well be the port machine , could be good for some but bad for some as well , i would like to see more original titles but the way things are going now adays with people whining for remakes or ports , we may see more of that

and i will gladly own my 3ds and get a vita ,

dont have a problem , i dont want to see either fall ,

neither does sony so ,, for once i agree with them , id gladly buy a few ports but they have to be good ones,

i dont care for the tom clancy ones , lol already bought it for 3ds and xbox im not looking forward to this hd collection 1 bit , as already stated i believe vita will be like psp 1 ,

or more like todays remake craze!

and i believe its more so in line with todays oh lets remake this , , cause we are seeing more of that these days ,

example

final fantasy- they already remade most of that ,

mgs 3 -getting a 3ds remake

goldeneye n64-got a retelling and the retelling-goldeneye wii is getting a hd port for 360 ps3

mgs the newest psp game is getting a vita upgrade

asphalt 3ds-is getting a simlar game on vita

starfox 64 3d-remakes a 64 game

oot -another game people asked for ---- got its remake on 3ds as well as gc wii

every single popular game has got one port or another out or in the works, so i dont expect this track to change any time soon hey give me top gear while they are at it and ill be happy i dont care what platform -3ds wii u vita bring it on ! or how about konami give us zombies ate my neighbors vita/3ds wiiu ps3 360 upgrades haha

theres also cases where a game changes its name to make you think its new entirely that was the case with twisted metal head on as already noted

so dont say any thing until vita is out and we played these games lol it may be new but hey it can also be renamed for all we know but dont matter im still buying it , as it or asphalt is the only games im interisted right now for vita

Yes, they seem to be quite keen on ports lately.
