Hmm...  Maybe the PS Vita has potential to be something..  I doubt it.  It needs more exclusive titles like always.   The Wii U on the other hand,  I'm sorry but it's a failure.   Nintendo should decrease it's life span to about 4-5 years then think of something that can actually serve to challenge PS4 and XBOX ONE.

Crossel777

The Vita will struggle to grow unless sony does something in the next year or two. The WiiU will recover in some way soon.I don't know how big the recovery will be.I have a funny feeling sony will continue to not care about the vita.

I want the Wii U to fail so that Nintendo can go back to their roots of supporting the hardcore gamer with hardcore hardware. I want the Vita to fail because hand helds in general are stupid.

I want neither to fail.

It is never good for the industry when a big prodcut or company fails, although some would argue that about Activison/EA.

I want the Vita to succeed because I love Sony's products. Also because I hope to see great implementation of the Vita with the PS4 for streaming games and such.

I want the WiiU to succeed because I have a soft spot in my heart for Nintendo. I am 38 years old and still to this day have not experienced any greater gaming joy than what the NES and to a lighter degree, what the SNES provided me.

Nintendo is like the wise old grandpa of the gaming industry. While not everything they do is great, I believe they mean to do good by gamers and have their interests at heart.

Also, I would love to own a WiiU someday. But right now I am saving for next gen and will not spend any of the money I am putting towards getting 2-3 PS4's (1 for me and 1 for each of my kids) and upgrading my PC.

If Bayonetta 2 bombs, Nintendo should avoid the hardcore gamer like the plague. Even if they had the hardware power, it was a mistake for them to even consider this idea, considering the hardcore has seen them as a joke since the GameCube.

Besides, Nintendo's console career was BORN casual. Their roots are NOT with the hardcore. The only time going hardware DID work for them was during the N64 era, but that was thanks to Rare and a few third parties like Acclaim and Lucasarts.

Have you seen 3DS games? Consoles are stupid if anything, just put the games on PC.

Neither at this point. I want my PSVita, but can't get one at the price it's being offered. Plus I want to see more games for it.

I don't WANT either to die. That said, I don't think anything of value would be lost of the Vita died. Sony should just admit defeat there.

TBH i don't really care. I own over 80 Vita games and have a big backlog on it already. As for the WiiU, I only bought it for Bayonetta 2 & Rayman Legends. Since the console won't be discontinued before those two games release I'm fine. Nintendo consoles have never been my main system since the original NES.

By hardcore I mean making games for core gamers who game as a passion.  For it's time Mario was a hardcore game.  Now Nintendo makes games for casuals.  Bayonetta 2 is a nice bone to throw at core gamers but the system itself isn't attracting core gamers because its as weak compared to the next gen consoles as the wii is compared to current gen consoles.   They need to made a core gaming system first and then the core gamers will return to them.  Right now all Nintendo has are its fanboys who are hardcore gamers but also Nintendo fanatics and casuals.   Everyone else isn't interested.  So yes I want them to go back to their roots.

No, Mario was not a "hardcore" game. Mario was built with a "casual" mindset. Always has been, always will be. They never had a "hardcore" appeal until the Nintendo 64 (though this isn't saying too much), but like I said, was thanks to Rare (and few third parties like Lucasarts and Acclaim), as well as the fact that most "hardcore" had their focus on the PlayStation at the time as well.

No matter how powerful Nintendo makes their hardware, the "hardcore" will never go back to Nintendo. Considering they didn't bother with them in the GameCube era while they played PS2 (the system with weaker tech specs than the GameCube) and, in some ways, the XBOX as well.

The difference between Vita and WiiU is that the WiiU is at least getting some Relevant Multiplats.

Vita however is just getting nothing.

The WiiU won't be getting relevant multiplats after it gets stomped by the PS4 and Xbox One in the coming year.

That's pretty much the assumption.

WiiU would probably get some Multiplats, but it's obviously not getting ALL of the Multiplats (no GTAV, no Battlefield 4, still no Tomb Raider, Crisis 3, or Bioshock).

Vita is seen as a port/multiplat machine so that would be what they have in common. Which I can see why when the next 2/3 games I will get arep4s2p0

except the main difference is that WiiU is getting games that aren't ports and are sure to spark up the Sales. While as to Vita, there's nothing going for it.

The Wii U has less external and Internal Support than the Dreamcast, atm, and they are losing money on it. If they could get people to buy the thing, they could make those losses back. The Vita, can't make back what it's lost unless it break records of sales, or after around 3 or so years. Personally, both these systems need to be either dropped and replaced, or re-marketed again. Re-market the Wii U and PSvita to get their names out there.

Not to mention the third-party devs that made games for the Wii did so because they were not ready for the transition. The Wii U would be their first HD consoles, because it would not be as expensive to make games for then the X1 and PS4. The issues is, the Wii u is not selling. if it can get a bit more market attention, they might jump on.

Then don't give me the WiiU has nothing crap either. Cause I can easily name a couple of worth while WiiU games just like you did there for Vita. I myself really would like to get Muramasa on the Vita.

But I'll be honest, I've never even knew those titles exsited on the Vita till now.

No seriously, who sat in a room and said they should make a 3rd game with bad sales and bad reception of the last two with crap and nearly broken controls? Valhalla Knights 3. Some people just don't know when to stop. In fact, it would be the 4th game in the series tehcnically

The vita is in a significantly worse position than the WiiU at the moment. It's nowhere near 10 million  in terms of sales. The vita  has been around for over a year and about a year and a half in japan. It's currently at a 3-5 million install base. The WiiU has sold around 4 million in about 6 months. The WiiU has a higher chance to recovery than the vita at he moment. I don't expect that whatever sony is planning will increase the install base of the vita much. The only way the install base will increase is ifc ross play between the vita and ps4 takes off, but I doubt that will be eough to save the platform because it will cost a lot of money to get a ps4 and a vita.

Why do you think CROSS PLAY will help with a system that is complained to have PORTS all the time? It needs games and a lower price. Also, maybe make it so people no what it is. Wii U confused people, but at least people no the name.

I bought them both, so obviously I'd like them to continue to receive significant releases well into the future. That said, I am much, much less optimistic about the Vita's potential for a comeback than I am about the WiiU's. If WiiU is still in dire straights this time next year then it will be more worrisome, but with games like Mario Kart, Smash 4, Zelda, Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, Wii Fit U, Wii Party U, Bayonetta 2, X, and Sonic Lost World it's hard to imagine that the WiiU won't rebound to at least some degree. But I can't point to anything on the Vita with a significant chance of changing things for the better, and that's pretty distressing.

At the rate things are going the Vita will sell 55 million units by the end of this year. The Wii U? May be lucky to sell 1 without the cutomer returning it seconds laterHiraiKazuo

I would like to get the Wii U sometime after I buy the PS4, since it will be rather pointless to buy the xbox 1 since the specs are inferior to the ps4. Unless a game that I must have isn't on the ps4,
