Lol, nice pics. The sad thing is, when you go to the grocery store or something here in America, that is seriously what the average person looks like. It disgusts me, and it motivates me to stay in tip top shape just because I refuse to ever become that stereotypical American. It's so unhealthy.....

The american food industry as a whole makes me sick.

You go into a grocery store, there's maybe only a small section dedicated to natural organic foods that are better for you, while the rest of the store is filled with fatty junk full of chemicals that could seriously f*ck up your health down the road.

I look down on the stereotypical American pig,but sometimes I pity them alittle bit. It's kinda hard for the average person to not eat that stuff when you have a Mcdonalds on every street corner as well as commercials on the idiot box consisting of corporations forcing their unhealthy chemical sh*t onto the masses.

Capitalism and Corporate Greed FTW

i feel bad for the people buying food for 50% more than its worth because its labeled "organic" while its scientifically no healthier for you.

But to bring this back on topic, yes the USA dictates world trends in entertainment.. because we do things better.

thing is with organic food, least you know there aint no crap between you and your food except maybe bug crap.I only ever eat fast food on a very very rare occasions half the time i'd rather just have a good burger and a beer in Wetherspoons as it feels more relaxed especially with friends, over a craptacular burger in McD's out a paper container.

On the matter of games they do have a big influence, look at CoD and the mighty following so many dev's wish to emulate and get a bit of the pie.Like capitalism in general its led to a bit stifled creativity in some genre's as its look here we could get moar profits by making it modern :o yet they could do the same with another setting be fresh and more than ikely still turn a fair profit as long as it was a good game.

Like Razgriz stated, with Organic Food, atleast you dont have to worry about eating something with hormones, steroids,or other chemicals.

I'd also like to assume people are smart enough to do research so they're able to tell the difference between something that's actually Organic.....and something that's just labelled as "Natural" by corporations who only wanna cash in on the "Organic Market".

salmonella and e-coli are all nautrally occuring organic and potentially deadly bacteria in that crap. Im not particularly scared of chemicals, as when im sick i like me some unnatural non-organic medications. But hey, screw that penicillin, herbal tea works just as well amirite :P

and CoD isnt only popular in the US, but all of the west.... and the entire genre of FPS wouldnt exist if the japanese had anything to say about it. And fps is one of the richest genres of all gaming.... before cod4 it was all ww2 clones. I personally would rather have modern warfare clones.

you do know Penecillin is actually developed from the naturally occuring fungi Penecillium? its essentially a clone of the natural antibiotic discovered Fleming by pure accident :P

If cooked and washed correctly bacteria should never pose a problem, i work with food i know all the protocols on it xD.

There's a whole spectrum between fast food and organic food. Organic or biologic food just means no chemicals were used to prevent diseases etc., but you can still buy normal fruit, vegetables, etc. By normal I mean that chemicals were used to treat diseases, etc., but still it's better than fast food.

I have a theory that, because the supermarkets are far apart in the US, they sell things in large quantities, and it leads to people buying and consuming more than they need. And it becomes the norm.

I heard this story about a guy who was asked to look after a goldfish, but he put a load of food on thinking they'll just take it when they want it, but they consumed too much.

When I hear from people I know who go on vacation there, they say you serve two or three times more food at a resturant than anyone can eat.

Who has the most sales dictate the market. THat's why home console market is dictated by America, handheld console market is dictated by Japan and PC gaming is dictated by Europe.

How is PC dictated by europe? All the major PC devs over the years are US devs...

I would say PC is the MOST US dictated.... as all the current big devs on console were former PC devs. They stole consoles from Japan.

You said it yourself..."former PC devs". Nowadays most PC centric developers reside in Europe. Also..american market sales are pretty damn small compared to European ones. It's gotten so bad that more and more often american release happens quite some time after european one or in some cases it doesn't happen at all.

I never said former PC devs, most still make PC games... Modern Warfare 3 is one of the best selling Pc games.

Nobody is talking about exclusives, the conversation is about the game industry. In terms of best selling PC games, i would be willing to bet PC sales have a higher percentage of USA devs than even consoles do... since consoles still have some japanese devs hanging around. Outside of the witcher, there arent alot of high selling euro devs.

AFAIK MW3 didn't even sell as much as Minecraft. And I think BF 3 actually outsold MW3 on PC. Both Minecraft and BF3 are european games.

SauceKing

Doubt it. The problem is that majority of USA games are multiplat. Now, this doesn't matter much, but what matters is that for those games most of the time PC sales are petite compared to console ones. For many publishers their best selling pc games are all european centric (Anno and Settlers for Ubi, Football Manager and Total War for Sega etc).

of course USA still has some gigantic devs, who's games sell insanely well, but those are mostly exceptions. Overall sales of PC games in USA simply palen in comparision to European ones. And market responds to that. Just compare how E3 looks vs gamescom when it comes to PC games. Publishers spend a lot more money in gamescom and save up their annoucements for it.

Simply put, PC gaming is niche in USA, while it's mainstream in Europe.

2 of the Big 3 are japanese companies, and all the games we look forward to always seem to some out of them. The Xbox is really only relevant here.

except organic means nothing you can dip your food in human feces and as long as the food was grown on a farm without a few pesticides *meaning it can use others* it can be labeled organic and this is world wide not just america the food administrations world wide are currupt and impotent in their ability to deliver us healthy food. Face it to feed 7 billion people unhealthy food is a simple requirement for the cost that truely healthy food would cost and does cost yet provides no real benefit, The only way to have truely ""organic"" is too grow it your self and then your screwed 6-7 months out of the year unless you have the ability to store up food stuffs....simple fact is the common family today doesn't have the land or money to survive without big corporations human population is the major problem in this world war, food shortages, diseases...ect People that supposedly eat ""organic"" are fooling them selves into actually believing they are eating healthy.

If cooking and washing correctly worked 100% of the time then I'm pretty sure companies would use the cost effective measures of soap and water and heat then using expensive chemicals...which points to one logical outcome of the argument Washing and cooking stuff correctly does not always keep you safe from bacteria and such hence why much more agressive means are used.

Dictate isn't the word I'd use. The United States is a giant market and therefore has much influence over the industry, but it doesn't 'dictate' it.

There aren't a lot of euro devs period because of the taxes. Most euro devs work in the USA I bet or work under a USA dev name. The biggest we got are DICE, Crytek, Ubisoft, Codemasters and Funcom. Some of which people tend to forget are european.

It disgusts me, and it motivates me to stay in tip top shape just because I refuse to ever become that stereotypical American. It's so unhealthy.....

Not always, but in some places (my small hometwn in Florida) is definitely like that. I recently gained 20 pounds and a starting to workout heavily almost solely because of "fat American" jokes (my college has alot of foriegn students). Having said that that's not what all or even most americans are like, its a stereotype, but like most steretypes there is a hint of truth in it.
