I used to love GTA, i remember the hours my friends and i would spend on it,but it seems IV lacks...fun.
Im not sure, maybe im too mature for GTA,although legally i have never been old enough to play it, maybe its too mature for me to fully enjoy?

Terrible? So you think it deserves like a 4? I'm pretty sure 5 is poor or something, and terrible is worse than that.... If you go to that level, then definitely no. rolo107
Well no, its a well put together game with some lasting appeal, it's just that after the first 2 hours i don't feel i ever need to play it again, and look at my last played list....i have some pretty terrible games i'd rather play then GTA
IGN, GAMESPOT and the 9 million that bought it month 1 seem to disagreeTheUtmostthe 9 million that bought the game bought it out of hype or because its "GTA" doesnt mean they werent disappointed.

The fact im one of those 9 million makes your point moot.
IGN,Gamespot and every other review out there are nothing but opinion's, no more valid then mine

Actually in general their opinion is more valid than yours. Because they have experience in judging wether a game is good or not. They have more to compare to and therefore can judge better. They've probably reviewed more games than you've played. Though I guess if you're just talking about yourself, yes your opinion is more valid to you than anyone else's opinion...
[QUOTE="famicommander"]I don't think it's terrible. Mediocre is more like it.TheUtmost
yes, mediocre games get 10 in scores and sell 9 million first month oh you're so right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sales and review scores mean absolutely nothing to me. Quality is subjective, and I'm speaking from personal experience. I don't need NPD or Gamespot to tell me what to think about a game.[QUOTE="TheUtmost"][QUOTE="famicommander"]I don't think it's terrible. Mediocre is more like it.famicommander

Good game while it lasts. It has absolutely no replay value though compared to the previous GTAs...butteater86
Of course it does. Causing mayhem with your friends is so much better than causing mayhem by yourself.

I own more than a few games that scored lower than five. I own Shadow the Hedgehog, which scored a 4.7.[QUOTE="ukillwegrill"][QUOTE="TheUtmost"]IGN, GAMESPOT and the 9 million that bought it month 1 seem to disagreemunu9

Ridiculous statement. I've been gaming for 20 years, so you're saying I don't know what a good game is? The only reason you say that their opinion is more valid is because they get paid for it and people take their word as gospel. Anybody can review a game. If I suddenly got offered a job as a reviewer, my opinion would somehow be more valid than anyone elses? Puh-lease.

I'm guessing your opinion would've been taken with more merit had you not said it was "terrible". An overall blockbuster hit which reviewed and sold higher than any game this year. Yeah, you can have your opinion and I respect it to a degree, but it's far out there, man.

I don't rate it as highly as the other GTAs in the 3 series, but it is by no means "terrible"

Obviously i worded it strong to gain the attention of other with strong opinions, i dont think its terrible, its just not the game everyone says it is and certainly not what it was hyped to be.
GTA4 is definitly a good game, but I must say that the hype far FAR FAR outweighed the actual game. With all the 10/10 scores and the buzz around the internet going I thought it would be a revolution in gaming.
9 million units sold, best reviewed game of all time, I did not own a console when GTA4 was released but the hype got to me so bad I went out and bought a 360 (my 2nd, sold the first) just to play it.
Good game? sure. But anything more than gta3 with a makeover? Not really.
The various game reviewers treated gta4 as if it were the second coming of christ, but what I found was the same old formula wrapped in a new package. And thats cool and all, I enjoyed my time with gta4, but the gameplay doesnt have the same impact it did 6 years ago. I finished it and immediately sold my 360.
I've seen it all before.
The addition of multiplayer was cool, but the repetitve singleplayer campaign was just as annoying as it ever was. Near the end of the game it felt like I was playing world of warcraft again.
Terrible, no. Overrated, possibly.
Plus I have information from my inside sources that in the exclusive episodic content, you would be able to do all the cool things you did in the previous in the exclusive DLC.

You're stating your opinion like it's factual. The majority opinion says GTA IV is that good.
I've heard alot of people say that GTA IV is a dissapointment or is 'missing something' and I'll tell you what that something is. I'm an avid fan of the series, I've played GTA3 three times or more, Vice City four times, San Andreas twice and I'm currently working my way through GTA IV for the second time. And IV is easily the best in the series, gameplay wise. Now I'll tell you what its 'missing' Nostalgia.

Are you jealous becase it sold 9 million copies one month after launch and scored a 10 at IGN and GameSpot and Super Mario galaxy didnt? :(

If you mean that gta4 takes place in a modern setting while the previous installments did not, please remember that the original gta3 took place in a modern setting. Modern being 2001, when the game was released

No, I mean in the sense that the game has just released. But GTA3 is different in several other ways. Firstly, the game's impact was massive. It was really the first of its kind, and it always has that working for it, both at the time and in terms of nostalgia. Also, the city was not based on any particular place. Sure, there is obvious inspiration from New York, but it isn't based on it, and its content is not as topical as GTA IV.

GTA is getting the halo treatment. First a few say it's over rated, then that turns to a few saying it's average, then a few saying it's bad... and now terrible.
Seriously, maybe you didn't like it - but terrible? You're saying GTAIV is TERRIBLE?

No i think he/she is saying that it is always better to ADVANCE your game and break into new territory rather than trying to be novel in including the older things.

Ohh, well I'd agree with that. For its time, San Andreas was amazing, but Rockstar obviously felt it was time to tighten up the game, push up the level of detail and 'realism' and I'm with them there. It just seems alot of people don't appreciate that.
No, it's great and that's a fact. Opinions, sminions! GTA IV is superior to any game released this generation and any other game in the GTA franchise. Live it, love it, GTA IV for life, represent. Werd!BioShockOwnz
Alright dude, I'm convinced that you're acting now.
a perfect 10/10...nope, not even close, i dont what the reviewer was thinking but it SHOULD be reevaluted. GTA4 brought nothing new to the table, San Adreas brought new clear ideas and displayed them nicely, gta4 just repeated itself with better graphics. The bugs alone in gta4 does not make it a perfect 10. I would say its a 9-9.5...but no 10.
