[QUOTE="stiltzsy"]I've actually been the same way with RPGs. I stopped playing them for something like three years. I discovered recently if I actually have about 3 hours to sit down and play, I can get into one - but who has that kind of time lying around all the time? For me it's RPGs. I just cant' get into them anymore. And somewhat RTS games, but I still love them...I just have a hard time remaining competitive with them. The older I get the more I enjoy FPS as I can just pick up and play and quit whenever. RTS takes a bit more dedication.
And yes SMG was way to easy and simple.

you'd be surprised how many do. Just think of the numbers of WoW lol. I don't have that time.
[QUOTE="Franko_3"]I am having some problem with the horror game this gen (and last gen to some extend)... I dunno, I was really scared with Clive Barker: undying and system shock 2. But now everything seems so bland. Yathzee illustrate that in his Dead space review. Game designer should try to take the japenese horror film as an inspiration.mstc_QHeh, I was playing the F.E.A.R. 2 demo on my PS3. I thought the "scary" parts were cool looking, but it failed to even creep me out in the slightest. I wonder if Fatal Frame 4 is coming out in the US... F.E.A.R. terrifiied me, I was on edge every time a gunfight finished, in case there was another "scary section" coming up. The bit in one of the air vents were Alma suddenly appears and crawls towards you really fast nearly gave me a heart attack. But I was just playing the F.E.A.R. 2 demo yesterday on Steam, and you're right, the scary parts look really cool, the effects are really neat, but they're not scary at all. After a gunfight (a lot of fun by the way, definitely the stronger half of the game this time, shooting things is rarely as satisfying as that), when the "scary parts" started, I just literally walked through them without looking around at any of the visions and stuff, saying to myself "yeah yeah come on, get on with it". I only jumped once, when there was a bit where for a split second, there was something or other trying to grab you literally an inch from the camera. Other than that, I just waltzed through the sections, without any interest. I just wanted to get to the next gunfight :P. Horror games last gen was scary, REmake is still the most atmosphereic game I've played, and Silent Hil 2, Fatal Frame, all tohse, they were scary as hell. This gen, they're just cliched and lame. What happened? The improvement in graphics should have helped big time.
One point here that you make that i really agree with and feel the same way is the BEEN HERE done that feeling. games like Doom 3 although good actually went out of its way to surprise me lol i played all the Dooms before this Doom 3 and not one trick not one Imp not one enemy caught me off guard i could just predict the blatent level and character designs like i had created it all myself. Im playing a game called Eternal Sonata at the moment with a friend of mine , i love the game great but its to darn easy i mean hell we are skipping as many fights as we can to get lower lvls to make the game harder, phrase i have coined while playing this game is ("Blatent chest area") it so easy to see in the heads of who created this game and work out which path is the main path and which one has a secret chest hidden in it. I would say that Mario games bore me to tears after playing them on the senes and then getting a PS1 with funny enough Doom collection and later FF7 my tasted have gone WAY past simple platforming with little to no plot. Last Platformer i played was Prince of Persia the 3rd one i believe sadly they lost the interesting puzzels in that as well. After Resident Evil 4 i thought i would be real hyped for 5 but learning that its CO OP if you like it or not has pretty much destroyed any promise that games got going for me. So yeah i would say i have become to adjusted to some games to enjoy them FULLY and other games like Mario, Sonic, Ratchet and Clank? lol just bore the hell out of me.Maybe grown out is the wrong word.
I've played a lot of games - check my blog if you want to see a list I've made - and there are certain game series that I just don't get anything from anymore. I used to love them, but now the luster is gone, and when the new instalment in the franchise comes out I find myself disinterested.
Mario, Ratchet and Clank, Devil May Cry, Zelda, Metroid... I just don't care anymore.
Recently I borrowed Mario Galaxy from my Brother, because everyone is fussing so much about it. I'm about 52 stars in, just learned how to fly, and I'm still just not that impressed. I don't think I can say it's a bad game, it just feels like something I've already done. I go through most levels without even losing a hit point; which makes the daredevil comets kind of humorous.

Anyway, does anyone else feel this way?
