I think the next xbox shouldnt be released in asia they have never really cracked asia is has always stayed true to home products like the playstation and nintendo consoles and they never really have the right games for the asian market and everytime they try to bring a jrpg it fails and shifts about 1,000-10,000 xboxs

Japan != Asia. The 360 is well supported in Korea, China, and Asian regions free of the so-called Sony pride.

microsoft should keep that door open. They will never break through this gen but if they stick to it they can get through eventually. Maybe the main reason that the 360 isn't popular is that it is percieved as poorly built because of RROD and that loud disc drive. It isn't an elegant or efficient machine, and that's more important over there

I respect the Japanese for their support first and foermost of home companies. Used to mean something here in the States as well. I try to buy American when I can, and favor the Xbox for this reason. Still own a PS3, excersising my right to like what I want. Seems some Japanese do so also, albeit very few. Sorry, on topic, no Americans shouldn't give up.

Xbox's are a bit more popular in Korean than PS3's and Wii's from what I know. But maybe because it is priced a bit more competitively.

exactly. MS rushed out the console a full year before the other two. what ended up happening was a gigantic hardware fault.

I thought it was more about lack of japanese appeal such as jrpgs compared to the other two consoles.

PC gaming is the king in Korea and it is still one of the world leaders for MMOs.

Wii is the most popular console there as everywhere else.

The Koreans appreciate quality in electronics and that is why the pc stays dominant.

Sony has quality but the long, turbulent history between the two nations is the main reason that anything Japanese is still a hard sell to many Koreans.

Xbox really won't be too big in Asian like Nintendo and Sony are, but with the more JRPGs they get, maybe it will help out.

Nice sig. ;) Awesome, awesome game.

And I hope they don't give up. I don't think they will. I need my Lost Odyssey 2 or something similar to that from Mistwalker.

Pretty much all of the big Japanese companies are westernizing their games..Also doesn't help the fact that the Asian market has been surpassed by America.

Why would they give up on the world's largest continental market? Pure insanity from a business perspective.

They may be floundering in Japan, but China, Korea, south-east Asia and India are all ripe.

They have a chance in Asia; remember many of the most popular games in Asia are Western (Starcraft, Counterstrike, WoW).

Fail

Do you even realise that while Microsoft isn't a big hit in Asia that they still make a ton of money from them, even if its no where as big as Nintendo's or Sony's? Plus even so why give up Asia, eventually they might give in to Microsoft and Microsoft some day might rule that territory in the same Nintendo does right now, you never know.

I think they should put more effort elsewhere, but to completely stop selling your console in Asia is just dumb.

Not entirely. Maybe not exhaust so much resources trying to convert the Asian market, but they really can't afford to give up on that region. Keep working on great exclusives that appeal to everybody and keep the hardware reliable, then maybe we'll see some improvements. Or buy Nintendo and keep the name.JK.

They should seriously give up on Japan, last I looked they had like 5-10% of the market share there, absolutely pathetic. The rest of Asia I don't know about, but I would think it's doing fine.

As some people have problably said earlier, the Xbox isn't really caterd to well to Asian audiences in Japan or China...but its not like Microsoft isn't selling any systems at all.As long as they still sell some systems, they will not give up on Asia.

Microsoft are trying their very best to crack Japan but the Japanese will always be very loyal to things that are manufactured in their homeland.

Plus, doesn't Xbox mean "Bad box" or something in Japanese.

The original xbox sold 500,000. The 360 has sold over 1,000,000 in japan. To me, that is a huge improvement and the gen is not even over. MS should actually do more in asia i think.

MS didnt expect to just waltz in and expect huge sales, it going to take alot of time and i can see them continuously improving the xbox's acceptance as the gens go by.

They keep doing better each time so I say no. Plus, them getting alot of JPN developers this gen has been a major boost for people who complained about the lack of support from basically every company but Tecmo last gen.
