[QUOTE="Senor_Kami"]They keep doing better each time so I say no. Plus, them getting alot of JPN developers this gen has been a major boost for people who complained about the lack of support from basically every company but Tecmo last gen.bingbaocao

now it seems it's the other way around, basically every company but Tecmo wants to make games for the 360

So true:lol: But not exactly, its just Hayashi whos being a fanboy, and even then he admitted that NG3 will be multi

I think the next xbox shouldnt be released in asia they have never really cracked asia is has always stayed true to home products like the playstation and nintendo consoles and they never really have the right games for the asian market and everytime they try to bring a jrpg it fails and shifts about 1,000-10,000 xboxs

Fail

Do you even realise that while Microsoft isn't a big hit in Asia that they still make a ton of money from them, even if its no where as big as Nintendo's or Sony's? Plus even so why give up Asia, eventually they might give in to Microsoft and Microsoft some day might rule that territory in the same Nintendo does right now, you never know.

Thats true, you also never know that Microsoft could simply go out of buisness tommorow.

I respect the Japanese for their support first and foermost of home companies. Used to mean something here in the States as well. I try to buy American when I can, and favor the Xbox for this reason. Still own a PS3, excersising my right to like what I want. Seems some Japanese do so also, albeit very few. Sorry, on topic, no Americans shouldn't give up.cainetao11
and give no regard to RROD.Blame it on nationalism.

neither Nintendo nor Sony is dominating continental Asia, PCgaming is.

Bingo.

by that logic, PC gaming is dominating the world.Which is true. But on the console market....

No matter how hard MS tries I cant see them dethroning Sony or Nintendo in the land of the rising sun. Im sure they have lost a fair amount of Money trying to break into the Japanese market but to no avail, sure they are doing better then the orginial Xbox but thats not really saying much. If PS3 had all the exclusive 360 JRPGs I bet it would have sold an extra 5 million by now. The problem is if MS quits Asia they may lose all the Japanese support

[QUOTE="GunSmith1_basic"]microsoft should keep that door open. They will never break through this gen but if they stick to it they can get through eventually. Maybe the main reason that the 360 isn't popular is that it is percieved as poorly built because of RROD and that loud disc drive. It isn't an elegant or efficient machine, and that's more important over thereGundamforce

I thought it was more about lack of japanese appeal such as jrpgs compared to the other two consoles.

And they're starting to get the proverbial foot in the door. A gaijin cracking the Japanese market needs one thing above all: time. Microsoft should be pressing on, not giving up.

Just look at Sega, every system failed in Japan until the Saturn came out. The Genesis was also another system that sold a reasonable amount after a long time, but it went a long way in helping the Saturn sell.

They've already outdone the original XBox in every way. They even have more JRPGs than the PS3, and several are quality JRPGs, too. Looks to me like homeland steadfastness is starting to weaken. If McDonalds can do it, so can Microsoft. Like I said, give 'em time.

Um...you do know Sega is a Japanese company? Has been for decades? Still is after the merger with Sammy?

I actually am glad that Microsoft seems to be focused on the North American market first, then try to grab the others. I now have more and more games that I like to play. I'm not really into JPRG or what ever you call them, and if they continue to succeed here I believe they'll be just fine. Just get 25% of the Asian market, then that will be a success in my book.

MS didnt expect to blow up in Asia. They hoped for a considerable lead in America and a small lead in Europe (exactly what the got). Theyve already over doubled the last gen sales of the Xbox and this gen still has a few years to go. Look at the numbers compared to the other continents and yeah it did poorly but in comparison it has done pretty well. Imagine a Japanese console in America with two American made consoles competing with it. Pretty tough competition right? Same thing for Xbox in Japan. Look at the big picture though, OVERALL X360 has continued to outsell PS3 worldwide on a monthly basis....

Yes. Buying JRPGs hasn't worked for them. Maybe they should stop splitting up the JRPG library so it can stay on a Sony system where it belongs next gen. They've really screwed things up.

That would be a bad business move. What if Asia gets out of the economic downturn faster than the rest of the world? Microsoft would have taken its foot out of the door and would have really kicked themselves.

They should just change their system's features to cater more to the crowd there. Just like some products are changed to fit American's taste, they should change products to fit Japan's taste.

What can you possibly change in the 360 to better fit Japanese tastes? It's already smaller than the PS3 and designed to stand on end, so space isn't a real issue. About the only thing you can improve on is the games, and Microsoft is working on that, slowly yes, but results are showing.

  • Bundle it with a cute plushie instead of a game
  • Change the name (I don't know if this is true or not, but isn't there some myth about the letter "x" in Japanese culture?)
  • Make the controller more like a Wii, but still have a distinctive Xbox look to it.

I don't know, I'm not up to date with Japan's culture. And I don't want to say too much more, before I look racist.
