depends on who you ask. And this "all about the gameplay" argument is flawed. Improved hardware means improved AI, physics, animation, and builds a more believable experience. Therefore, the gameplay experience is improved without a corresponding overhaul of the control mechanisms.

I don't think it matters right now but in a couple years when the PS2, XBox and Gamecube are finally dead I think it will. Right now the Wii doesn't seem as bad because it still looks better (although not by much) than last generation consoles. I think the Wii could die off with those consoles though and Nintendo would be the first to release a "next generation" console. I look at the Wii as a test run for the Wii-mote.

people these days are more focused on getting the most powerful machine on the block than ever. bigger tv, faster car, faster computer (even if they only use it for word)... with that attitude, people will gravitate towards the more advanced machine, the more graphically able machine. which is not the wii.

If graphics mattered....

Super Mario Sunshine would beat Super Mario Bros 3

But it doesn't.  SMB3 is clearly superior in terms of fun and depth.

no, not really. Nintendo's one of the best developers on the planet and if they thought to go in a different direction, trust them, they had good reasons. I'm curious to see what they do next, really. What comes after Wii...

BUT, any developer who wants to make the most incredible games out will want to work on the PC, then 360 or PS3 after. Probably the best developers only do PC games for just that reason, moah powah!

Behold truth, fear it's dire consequence, and be humbled by the drastic sacifices of it's bearer.
