do also xbox360s produced to be a reaplacement for RRODed consoles in warranty count into overall consoles sales ?

AmnesiaHaze

YES..You have to figure in people like me that have bought 2 360s since launch because of the shotty hardware. AND you have to consider MS is counting more consoles sold from replacements and repares.

What people forget, and its been brought up by me and others in the past is....There would be no competition IF SONY and MS would have released their consoles at the same time with same prices. I think the sales would favor SONY quite a bit more. What I feel is funny about threads like this is, MS fanboys are bragging about being in 2nd place. SO now its ok to brag about 2nd? lol...

you missed it the wii was proclaimed a TOY and the other two consoles are serious business this is why the sales for the wii dont count............ because if you cant beat nintendo discount them

It'll matter to the cows much like how it mattered to the sheep when it passed the Xbox 360 -- but I don't see the PS3 passing the Xbox 360 this generation anyways. By the time it does pass the Xbox 360, no one will necessarily care.

As long as it sells well enough for there to be another PlayStation, I don't care at all

Same here. I know Sony will get my business ASAP next gen as I have totally written off MS for next gen for the horrible hardware this gen Ive been though. I hope MS goes totally belly up and Sega makes another run. OR heck, even Apple.

Yes, since i want to pay for an overpriced, underperforming platform that has next to no games built for it..... Considering that this is only the second gen of Microsofts gaming consoles they did pretty darn good. They played to their strengths which was a good OS, good software, and good internet integration. Sony played to their strengths which was good hardware. Overall, i say everyone won in this generation of video game consoles. The only people who lost were the ones who bought only one console.

Yes they do, just like all the "free" PS3's Sony was bundling with TVs not that long ago.

I know PS3 fanboys (not saying you are one) love to pull up the RRoD counting towards sales, but just think how many more 360s would have been sold in the first place if people didn't avoid buying the Xbox because of the RRoD. I'd be willing to bet it cost MS more sales than they gained by people buying replacement consoles.

On a personal note, I'm glad PS3's are finally selling well. More great games for me on all 3 systems.

lol, I think it's gonna matter more to the lemmings cuz they've never actually had their system on top against another. Playstation has already been on top so as Nintendo. If the 360 falls behind the PS3 that'll be 2 generation of being last.

I think you'd be a rich man if you placed a bet that 360 would have sold more this gen, so I guess it matters to those people :P

Replaced RROD consoles do not count as sales. That would be against the law :P

Yes and no. It matters because it looks bad for MS when they release a year early, profit early, release a ton of software and they come in last place.

However, it also doesn't matter because even IF MS comes in last place, they have doubled their user base, made a nice profit, and Sony has lost a TON of market share from the PS1/PS2 days which makes Sony look bad.
