Oh and it doesn't need laser/plasma weapons to be high tech. Just something more futuristic than what we have now. Halo suffers from this too.

The other guns ARE as good as the M82 Assault Rifle. Problem was no one even bothered trying out other weapons, because the M82 is the "Battle Rifle" of Killzone 2: It fits almost all roles in a decent manner, while the other weapons excel in certain fields. The primary ISA gun was the standout, I basically used that for the whole game.
they need to make sure other weapons are as good as the main ISA gun or even feels better.

Problem is that Sci-fi guns belong to Resistance... The Helghast are the hardened version of the humans in the game, so having crazy sci-fi guns doesn't really suit the whole thing IMO.

No, holographic sights are for sissies! Helghast assault and semi-auto rifles FTW. Also that SMG felt really good while shoving hot lead into enemies bodies up-close.

I played it on normal and it was far from easy and was much longer than 5 hours.
And I've played plenty of FPS games.

I think KZ2 was kinda easy when playing on normal (whatever it was called). I was bothered only by ATAC (until I found that infamous tunnel under the roof) and Radec.
Elite is a completely different experience though. That is the real way to play KZ2.
Thats the thing. Unlike most shooters increasing the difficulty to hard and up does not just simple lower your HP and increase the enemies. In Killzone 2 the Ai gets significantly better and more tactical as the diffulculty goes up.
I get annoyed at people who complain about how stupid the Helghast Ai is, and they only have played on easy or normal.
I love when a game has cool future-weapons but Killzone2 failed. The weapons are to normal.
Somethings very strange: Why need the Locust gasmasks and the intruders don't?
I mean, its the homeplanet of the locust or not?
Sorry for my english

Yes it has fail, but he has a valid point. Why do the Helghast run around with gasmasks, while ISA soldiers don't have them? :D And i doubt we will be using anything but guns for a very long time. The differances between now and 500 years in the future will be very much under the hood. Like guns will probaby be rail guns, tanks will have far more advanced armor, you will have guided bullets and shells, grenades will be very small so they will carry alot of them, advanced HUD for infantry, improved communication on the battlefield etc. I doubt we will be running around with pew pew laz0rs 500 years in the future. look back, 500 years ago people were shooting guns, today we're still shooting gunsWhy do the Helghast run around with gasmasks, while ISA soldiers don't have them? :DchaplainDMK
Actually this was explained @ SW many times already ;)

And the explaination is? Sorry i just so no logical reason why the helghast would carry gas masks and the ISA wouldn't .And the explaination is? Sorry i just so no logical reason why the helghast would carry gas masks and the ISA wouldn't . chaplainDMK
Gasmask is symbolic for the Helghast soldiers and it is an honor to wear one as a reminder of the nation's hardships. ISA soldiers don't wear gasmasks because they thought that the whole Helghan invasion won't take this long. Helghan air doesn't poison straight away. It has an effect after the long exposure.

Ah well thats a logical explaination :DStill kinda wierd that the ISA wouldn't issue their troops with gas masks just in case... But whatever :D
Whatever works for that game. I don't know in what time it's set, but a science fiction setting is always a good excuse to invent some insane weapons. They wouldn't have to drop the realistic weapons, though. Metro 2033, for example, has a great balance between 'old', existing weapons, and new ones fabricated in the subways.

I know i'm goin on a stretch I play all my games on hard, It was challenging not as much as other games. BUT limiting yourself to normal or easy andf then telling someone the game is 5 hours is just bananas, it's meant to be easier and short due to the fact that the AI and challenge isn't really there.[QUOTE="Animal-Mother"][QUOTE="NoobisMaxcimus"]
Killzone 2 was not easy at all. People saying otherwise are full of ****.

it took me just under 7 hours on normal and i found it easy. One of the reasons I love it a lot more than Halo is the fact it feels so much more realistic and down to earth. Throwing in plasma firing whatever would greatly reduce that feeling.tomarlynIt doesn't need to have plasma. Just more guns (or bullets) with attributes or capabilities that are beyond the scope of today's militaries.
why if may I ask halo suffers from this?Oh and it doesn't need laser/plasma weapons to be high tech. Just something more futuristic than what we have now. Halo suffers from this too.

Besides the alien stuff, UNSC weaponry isn't all that advanced (except for the mjolnir armor).
Hell no!!!
Lasers, pink hedgehog shooters, Plasma guns etc etc belong in something more colorful like Halo. I loved KZ2 for the realistic, dirty, clunky and lead spewing guns. dakka dakka is so much more cooler than pew pew lasers.... tsall I'm saying, this comes straight from my heart.

I completely agree. Laser weapons are so wimpy.

This is kinda sci-fi, is it not? It looks kick ass, anyway.
I agree with TC though, KZ2 didn't have nearly enough crazy weaponary, the electric gun was a highlight of the game, so you'd think it would be logical to include more sci-fi...
