Also, look at what they are doing with Windows.
They are pretty screwed.
God. Windows 8 is complete gutter shit.

These articles and many, many more, all talk about how it could, and those patents and surveys show real intent. Doesn't mean it ever will happen, but as it was before the Microsoft change, it was a real possibility.
The "spying" has always been perpetuated by the tinfoil crowd (which is forefront logic of fanboys). The "evidence" you try to showcase always rests on theoretical conversation, not exactly the greatest empirical path to take. A las, you could try to link direct evidence to showcase such, but there is none. Even one of your links gave mention of "live data" can be monitored, a policy in which has been in place since the dawn of the Xbox Live Enforcement Team. Trying to draw that line to Kinect spying is serious reaching, which explains why the site is one I've never heard of before.
They pulled a Windows 8 in console form. Rather than listen to their customers and give them what they want they decided to force feed their customers their own ideas and make them like it.
They were trying to use their power and influence to feed from all the different pots at the same time. They felt they could take on Apple, Google and Sony all at the same time. Good thing they failed too. They didn't know gamers were smart enough to see through their bullshit. Only hardcore lems were dumb enough to support them during that time. Now they are trying to reverse the shit storm they caused but it's too late. The Xbone is weaker and less gamer focused than the PS4 and it shows. Sony is going to dominate hard and MS will be left will the table scraps this gen.
Well after MS had their abortion of a reveal and got knocked the **** out at E3 casuing them to have to do a major 180 a shit can their whole vision of the console, they have been reeling to keep with SONY and the by gamers for gamers mantra that is being done. I'm not sure if they can ever truly recover, but I guess we'll see.
It's clear that with Tv and Sports they wanted to make the xbone a jack of all trades, master of none. In that regard they may have succeeded but it's left them in a dire position as it's all too easy to own systems that support each aspect of what the xboner offers in a better way.
They really had bigger plans for the console but most of their vision got destroyed when consumers found out just how bad they were about to be reamed by microsoft in concern to many things, especially used games.

Kinect's main purpose would have been for advertising, you used the term "consumers", well it's so consumers would hopefully buy more shit. Sounds high tech to me and not entirely feasible, but they wanted to scan rooms and advertise to you based on what was around the room.
As for spying, in the internet age everybody's data is already available if somebody wanted to spy on you, and even then nobody's spying on anyone unless there's a reason, Kinect would just be another source for data collecting. Nobody's spying on john smith eating twinkies and playing CoD, lol.

Not to mention that anyone worried about kinect spying on them should be much more worried about their cell phones and computers if it matters to them that much.
At this point i would say yes they know what they are doing. They have the games and entertainment features that aren't close to being matched by Sony currently. PS4 has "better" specs but nothing to show for it if you ask me. What good is next gen on the ps4 atm with nothing but arcade games coming out that could be played on a computer or last gen? All the multiplats can be enjoyed elsewhere by definition.
With no Uncharted or TLOU this year, from what i've read recently, 2014 doesn't look to change that too much
Infamous and drive club are arcade games.? What about the Order which is say to hit this year to.?
And the xbox is on even worse grounds since Titanfall is not even exclusive and can be play on PC and last gen like you say, unlike Infamous and drive club.
No, they don't. Always online is the most stupid thing they could have possibly tried with their console and they rightfully got torn to pieces over it. The media focus is good but NOT at the cost of damaging the core gaming function. Hello, inferior 720P multiplats.
Now their console seems to lack identity. I know exactly what the PS4 is, the most high end core gaming console with the best multiplats and arguably best 1st party developers. I don't know what the Xbox One is supposed to be about. They went so nuts with apps and Skype and NFL and snapping and web browsing and christ knows what else that I just don't know.
Believe it or not, there were groups out there that was severely pissed that Microsoft didn't go through with their original plans. They imagined a community that was only opened to a select group of people of the ideology that always-on internet, no used games and such would mean a higher class of consumers who wanted constant connectivity and a high-end online experience that was custom made for gamers who never leave XBL.
Have you made the jump to the new gen yet?
Yep a few blind fanboys and MS inside team and big wigs..
LMFAO! You act like that's some kind of tinfoil hat craziness, but it is a FACT that MS was one of PRISMs biggest data gatherers.
Apologize to that poster
You don't get to point fingers when you are the one in the wrong.
Anyone who believes Kinect is spying on you is wearing a tinfoil hat.
Now your been naive..
Is not like MS will come forward say hey get our xbox one so we can watch what you do all the time and gather data.
If something like this were to happen (i'm not saying it is happening) MS would never say a word about it.
Dont forget how much worse PSN was than XBL for like the first 5 years
Yeah it was so worse that it was doing 20 vs 20 matches on PSN free while xbox 360 games could not even deliver 4 vs 4 without heavy lag,and host advantage issues...
And that is what comes down to,most PS3 games on the early years ran on dedicated servers, you know what you hype now to be the be all end all of gaming, yeah sony was doing while MS was charging you for P2P,games like Warhawk which had incredible code 32 players on huge maps with flying vehicles,tanks,jetpacks....
Or like Resistance 2 30 vs 30 or its 8 player co-op which still unmatch by any xbox 360 game to this day.
While you were paying for party chat,we were getting online free with up to 60 players at once, core gaming is what matter to me i could care less about party chat which in nothing stopped xbox 360 games from not lagging or been full of cheaters.
Not to mention that anyone worried about kinect spying on them should be much more worried about their cell phones and computers if it matters to them that much.
That typically remains a focal point practically all fanboys miss -- smartphones, and all forms of portable computers and traditional desktops are susceptible to monitoring by any Government authority with the proper legal backing. This fear mongering is very silly.
Now your been naive..

They would have too via legal documentation; Terms of Use, and/or Privacy Policy.
@tormentos: moooooooooooooo
But but live is better even if the games lagged to hell and beyond and were filled with cheaters and screaming 10 year olds..hahaha
moooooooooooooo
Butthurt...hahahhaaa

No they don't have to and they will have full immunity from the government to,they didn't count with all those people they were spying on when they worked with the NSA,so yeah they will tell you nothing and you will know when some one from the inside leak it if it happen....

You're getting into the tinfoil hat territory, that is unwise and always is founded on shoddy (non-existent theoretical foundations). If they knowingly do not disclose such via Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, they are breaking the law and would be liable for damages--and fines from not just the United States Government, but the European Union as well. Unless, you think it's probable that an over encompassing conspiracy is involved here where the "NSA" gives a major Corporation not just immunity from the United States Government, but also international authorities as well.
Microsoft is running the Xbox division into this ground. If titan fall fails to meet expectations expect the Microsoft to pull the plug on the division.
I'm sorry but if after watching this you still think MS doesn't know wtf they're doing i don't know what's wrong with you
MS back tracking and changing things for the people bitching on the internet was the worst possible thing they could of done. MS just presented everything horribly and shit got lost in translation. It's 2014, who's system isn't connected to the internet all the time, and if it's not don't get a X1. I wanted an X1 more when it was announced I wanted to see the direction they were heading. I wanted a system that isn't bogged down with trash that steal their internet from the McDonald's that they live next too. I wanted to see what the game sharing vision was about, I don't care about having a physical copy of a game. And for the people that didn't want all that or wanted to "own" their games they could of kicked rocks and bought something else. I like MS's elitist attitude and wanting to put something out there that could of changed a lot, but no the world if full of whiners and complainers that ruin everything for everyone. Thanks bums
I'd say they either filled their x box division with people who are way out of touch with gamers or they simply took their fan base for granted, thinking we would jump in as long as a big X was on the box... They pulled a Gen 7 Sony.
That said... I think they'll come back strong.
Sony wasn't nearly as bad as MS with the Xbone reveal.
I don't know man... as much as I'll agree that MS had waaaay too many things wrongly aligned with consumer wishes, dat $600 price announcement coupled by incredibly weak games, was like dropping an Abomb of NO and the sales reflected that.
Dont forget how much worse PSN was than XBL for like the first 5 years
Another valid point... People tend to forget just how behind Playstation gaming was at the beginning of gen 7. poor desicions and less compelling hardware. Sound familiar? That's why I say, don't count xbox out. Microsoft will be put to the test this gen just like sony last gen.
@TheEroica: or maybe sony jsut surprised them with a last minute hardware boost, and MS has to catch up. It's really not as complicated as cows would have you believe. MS trying to optimize their OS for extra power towards gamign is not a bad thing by any means.

nope not at all... matter of fact I can't remember if there has ever been a time that giving the consumers more for nothing was a bad thing. Of course the closer we get, the more petty we'll make the fight, right?
You had better thank your stars that there are people like him willing to challenge MS. They had to make a 180 on doing precisely that because of people like us.
Again, you are dead wrong. Apologize.
They would have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you punk tinfoil hat wearing teenagers and your dog.. Of course, given Snowden's report, what comes out of a Microsoft PR directors mouth has about as much gravitas as a nerf gun.
180 on spying on people? Kinect was never a spy device.
What exactly in that article states that Kinect spies on consumers, or was going to spy on consumers?
They were literally caught at the pitch. What about the XBox One would be a new boon for marketing and data collection if the KINECT WASN'T IT?
Everyone who plays Yes Man to MS simply cannot answer that question and can only hide behind the thin veil of one MS exec counter-pointing what another MS exec said before the XBone launched. They were red handed and you know it bro. This isn't rocket surgery.
This is yet another revenue generation stream they counted on when they architected the XBox One, but the door got shut because people were watching their every move like a hawk after the botched XBone reveal. The people with your so-called 'tinfoil hats' saved gaming from a catastrophe. If this had all come out of the wash a year or two from now? People would abandon gaming altogether for fear of their liberties being intruded. Console gaming would crash while everyone implicated Sony, Nintendo and probably even Valve.
What I don't understand is what are they supposed to do? They had a vision, people bitched about it and they caved to public pressure. Not much wiggle room there. They were damned if they did, damned if they didn't and I don't think they ever had a fair shot. I'm not on anyone's side here as it was abundantly clear that MS made some serious missteps, but I think that they should be allowed a course correction because if they didn't do anything about their situation, then THAT would have been majestically stupid.
Why should they be allowed a course correction? Atari wasn't allowed a course correction. Sega wasn't allowed a course correction. 3DO wasn't allowed one and neither was CD-i. They are beholden to market forces the same as everyone else and they are failing. With Steambox just over the horizon, now, it's not like if MS dropped out that there wouldn't be a third contender to take their place.
Good riddance to old rubbish. I'm sure MS investors will be happy, too. Why do we act like we (the gamers) need them when it is completely the other way around?
And all of those platforms are dead. That's a pretty silly way to look at things. No one is ALLOWED a course correction, they do it. The fact that those companies you listed all have toe tags (hardware wise) proves my point. You ADAPT. If you don't, you die.
I'd say they either filled their x box division with people who are way out of touch with gamers or they simply took their fan base for granted, thinking we would jump in as long as a big X was on the box... They pulled a Gen 7 Sony.

Pretty much the answer, except i'll throw in a 7 Gen Nintendo also in an attempt to draw in everyone to their console.
I use to like what they were doing (Except for the extremely monetized way XBL is) but since the release of the first Kinect they haven't been the same company. Is like they went nuts and still refuse to medicate. Once I saw the specs for PS4 and X1 I knew it was gonna go down like this. Might not seem so bad right now cuz both companies are selling boxes about as fast as they can make them but once supply catches up with demand I expect PS4 to pull well ahead.

But at least Sony was smart enough to delay their box and redesign aspects of it. Originally it was suppose to be no GPU at all, Cell only. Considering how difficult Cell is to work with that would have been a freakin disaster. When MS saw that PS4 had a 50% better GPU and 8 gigs GDDR5 they should have delayed X1 to improve it. That would have given Sony a big lead early on but at least they might have eventually caught up the way PS3 eventually caught up to X360. With the box they've got now they have no chance of being the market leader.
@Suppaman100: bottom line Sony was bad in that 7th gen start. You'll say not as bad as MS, then others will say no they were worse, all because their fanbpyism. At the end, they both screwed up. Both can come back
One review doesn't make a console. Flopza 5 is rated lower than GT5 now. I guess shine wore off fast.
Flops are determined with the GS score... Stop trying to use MetaCritic, it's sad that you need to flip-flop...
