I mean a library of thousands of movies free to XBL gold ( maybe even silver? ) subscribers. That to me is the best announcement at the conference, followed by Banjo Kazooie XBL arcade

Wat?It's free if you already have a Netflix subscription. It's just making it quicker to get your movies if you use it through LIVE. Pretty sure thats what the free is talking about. hopesfall2own

YOU MUST BE KIDDING!
Wow, this is extraordinary, if this is true...I don't even know what to say, my god...
The man said something like 'If you have a LIVE subscription you can access the movies' so I'm guessing probably. Watch the conference yourself and decide.[QUOTE="ice144"][QUOTE="thrones"]Actually, Netflix comes free with gold. On the other hand, Netflix doesn't exist in Europe so I could care less.thrones

FREE TO XBL GOLD MEMBERS
Only free if you're subscribed to netflix.waynehead895
Read the link on page 2, it sounds like anyone with gold gets it free.
If this is true...PS3 can no longer fall on its Blu-Ray, as people can now say "I'd rather have millions of movies at my command than just one prettier one".

After months of speculation and rumors, Microsoft just announced that it's partnering with Netflix to allow Xbox 360 owners to stream movies from their Netflix queues for no extra charge. Microsoft says the 360 will be the only game system that allows Netflix access for no additional cost -- which isn't entirely accurate, since it sounds like only Live Gold members will get access. Streaming movies can also be shared with your Live party, allowing you to watch content together. Users will have instant access to their Netflix instant access queues, but it's not clear what resolution the content will be streamed at -- we'd guess it's roughly the same DVD-quality res that Roku's Netflix streamer is getting for now, but hopefully that'll change when the service launches in the fall with the new dashboard.
You have to pay for Netflix it is just a way to stream it to your TV rather than on a monitor there are boxes out there that do it as well but they are like $100.wooooode
if you have freaking gold its free what are u talking about.

but if we do get HD movies for free it would be hard for 360 haters to call microsoft greedy.
I already have netflix and if I understand this correctly you get access to the netflix ONLINE movies which is a FAR smaller library than what Netflix offers. however, the amount of movies is nothing to sneeze at, and I watch what is available online all the time. I usually watch a documentary or something obscure (like I watched the Dana carvey show from 1996 and discovered Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert were regulars on that show).
I think the Netflix online is a big plus! But don't expect the latest movies to be available. At least not right away
if you got it for free as part of XBL yes, but you have to pay for both....
It's still awesome, but I'll probably never use it personally.
At E3, they said that everyone on your friends list can watch it with you.. does that mean only one person on my friends list needs to pay for netflix and everyone can watch what he's watching? Since I have a 360 and one at my gfs house, I'm just going to have one run movies all day and make my rl friends pay me rent to me :P.tmntPunchout
OH i thought it was just the cheapy watch it now movies that netflix has, which are usually pretty bad or really old
Besides it cost between10-30$ a month for netflix, why would they give that away to silver member, or at all, you have to be a netflix subscriber im pretty sure

I knew it. Hell no netflix aint free. Are you kidding me. I mean MS gives a little bit back to the MS community this time every year but they have never been that giving of a company to where it will make the online payment for gold membership a real bargain.

Ahh, well I was jk, indicated by the tonguestick facey. I'm a hardcopy person so any form of digital distribution isn't for me really. It does sound like a good idea though. I agree though, it seemed like they left too many details out in order for that partnership to sound truely impressive. I'll probably stream off friends though if theyre watching a movie I thought about getting but wasn't convinced.
No, Netflix does not make XBL worth the $50 a year.
For me, XBL is worth the $50 a year by allowing me to play some of my favorite games online with my Xbox 360 owning friends.
Sure, it would be great if it were free, and I'm certainly not saying paying > free but for the reasons I listed earlier, I think it's worth it.

10-30$??? it's 4.99...

Xbox 360 and Netflix Team Up
Published July 14, 2008
Los Angeles-An exciting new home theater experience is coming to living rooms this holiday season. At E3, Microsoft and Netflix, the world's largest online movie rental service, today unveiled an exclusive partnership to offer the ability to instantly stream movies and TV episodes from Netflix to your television via Xbox 360®.
Xbox 360 will be the only game system that lets you instantly watch movies and TV episodes streamed from Netflix. This movie-watching innovation will be available to Xbox LIVE® Gold members who are also Netflix subscribers, and will let those users enjoy streaming movies from Netflix on Xbox LIVE at no additional cost.

hmm....I'm still not buying that. I'm sure a NetFlix subscription is required and costs money. It's just that LiVE will enable us to access those NetFlix accounts via its interface.
it's the only way it makes logical sense.

Xbox Live was worth it before Netflix. :|JayPee89Live should have always been free. But it is worth paying for, yes.
