Spore is not multi-plat, Wii has a gimped creature creator version, not even remotely 10% close to the version on PC.

angry_fork

Spore only requires a basic graphics card. It is not as if it is inaccessible to most console owners.

Most games like nancy drew don't count anyway ... hell nancy drew doesn't even count http://www.gamespot.com/search.html?tag=search%3Bbutton&om_act=convert&om_clk=search&qs=nancy+drew

You say that as though the x360 isn't rashing..... and the only PS3 game that isn't a rehash is LBP.

The next PC game to push graphics to the limits is project offset

Don't ati/nvidia make console GPUs? Why would thier stock drop, plus ATI/Nvidia pretty much have the money to dev games to push graphics.

kidcool189

The point with Nancy Drew is that it is hard to make a pc/console exclusive comparison when many of the pc exclusives are really designed for a pc demographic. PS3/360 comparisons make more sense.

Anyways project offset is multiplat and doesn't have a release date. I don't see any crysis type games on the horizon. Big budget pc exclusives are going the way of the dinosaur. The pc holiday lineup this year is the worst I have ever seen.

As for ATI/NVIDIA I predict a stock drop because they are used to profits from pc gamers upgrading their systems to play the latest games. As games go multiplat it means that consoles will be the baseline and thus upcoming games will be playable on current gen video cards.

that is a completely riduculous statement, sure some of the good games coming up are multiplat, but that still means a good game is coming for pc

start wiht stalker CS(love or hat egame, for me, i loved the first and sure to enjoy this one), spore(sure it "flopped" and didnt meet up to hype, but it is still a great game)

then we got crysis warhead will be a pretty good game, warhammer online has a lot of potential for MMO fans, enhanced version of the witcher(perfect for me since i never played the first release), brothers in arm will be a decent game, the new silent hill is coming to pc(im hoping its good), saints row 2 is alos gonne ba a great game, dead space is looking pretty good, of course far cry 2 is gonna be great (and dominant on pc), C&C RE3! hopefully is gonna be awsome, and of course fallout 3 is sure to be a good game(will be dominant on pc, especially wiht endless mods), the new CoD world at war although im not necesarily looking forward to it much, left 4 dead will be great on pc, mirrors edge has a alot of potential, the new prince of persia is probably gonna be a great game, and lastly the pc version of gta 4(will be pc dominant, thanks to much better framerates, mod, etc)

and a couple great looking FREE games coming out this year i think in quake live, and battlefield heroes(im really looking forward to this one)

so to say this years holiday lineup is the worst uve ever seen of pc(whether their multiplats or not) is completely false, even if its just your "opinion" or not

I love you.

That's one of the lamest statements ever, it's still on PC only. Just because you can get a better graphics card and get it doesn't mean anything. There are other factors involved.

And graphics cards aren't anything, processor speed/RAM is way more important.

As far as pc exclusives go, this is the worst holiday lineup I have ever seen. But I agree with Adrian in that the multiplat trend is good for pc gaming. 1 gigawatt power supplies should be for servers, not desktops. PC gaming rigs should not serve as dual-purpose heaters.

Multiplats are good for gaming in general, oh how happy I'd be if I could buy one console and enjoy all the games on it.

first of all.....congradulations...you win the award for the most disgracefull post ever.

okay...but seriously...where to begin.....

1. Project Offset is exclusive again...this has now been confirmed by Intel.

2. There are plenty of big budget PC games coming out....Spore had a budget of 50 million...and are you actually going to claim that the 3 blizzard games coming out have small budgets? Than there are the MMO's...which budget wise dwarf all console games.

3. I dont know about ATI...but as for Nvidia, last year, was their strongest year ever...they even got named company of the year by forbes.

either way if ur speaking exclusives only...

spore, stalker:CS, warhammer online, crysis warhead, C&C RE3(although it is coming for x360, in my eyes its exclusive since rts's should not be played wiht a controller whatsoever IMO)quake live, battlefield heroes

thats still a very decent pc exclusive lineup for the remaining months of this year

The required specs for xp is a p4 2.0ghz with 768 ram, which is a typical desktop. But thanks for pointing out the obvious.

Depends on what you want and what's your taste, holiday PC line-up of exclusives lacks big titles, but it's one of best ones in recent years for fans of more niche genres, especialy considering how many legends of pcgaming are coming back this holiday :)

Not everyone with XP can play Spore, every one of your posts so far is going off on weird tangents.

Console people can't just buy a new video card and play Spore, it's exclusive to PC, stop acting like it isn't.

okay....seriously.... try reading through the thread next time

1. That's nice, now inform gamespot since this is also news to them.

2. Big budget as in high-end graphics. Where did you get $50 mil from btw?

3. Keyword in my post: foreseeth, as in predict. I predict a drop in sales to be coming in the future.

Way to throw out your little nerd 'fail' graphic though. I'm glad that it gave you some temporary satisfaction.

The vast majority of console gamers have a pc. Most of those pcs can play Spore.

I don't consider this to be any more of an exclusive than The Sims or Nancy Drew. They are games that are designed with the average pc in mind.

Look at how many video cards Spore supports:

http://eu.spore.com/extra/?id=9432

I can play this game on my 2 year old budget laptop. Is linerider.com also a pc exclusive?

Crysis is not going to consoles. I think these pictures pretty much say why:

Miss_Wacy

Most PCs can't even run Crysis on high settings. I'd bet it would look and play better on consoles than on the majority of PCs (especially considering most PCs ship with crummy built in video cards).

i think it would run better aswell then most pcs, but alot of pc fanboys wouldnt agree i bet

any one who never built their own computer woud disagree. Computers come with crummy video cards, bad shutter settings, and low video memory. if you think other wise you are out of your mind

A pc with an integrated video card can't play any game. If someone wanted to play games on their PC, they would spend the $150 to play crysis on high with higher resolutions than majority of console games.

Unless your PC is around 2 years new like yours is, you're not gonna be able to play Spore as it's intended to be played, let alone games like Crysis.

360 has 512mb of RAM, PS3 has 256mb of RAM, Crysis on PC requires 1GB of RAM -MINIMUM-, explain again how it's gonna work and look better on consoles exactly? Unless you want textures that look like a cat crapped them out, and the game to run at like 5 FPS, the game wouldn't work.

Hardware specs don't translate like that from PC to console. Gears on 360 still looks comparable to the PC version which requires more than 512mb to match the 360. If what you say is true, then all games on 360 would look poorly and run like crap.

Its comparable because the developers didnt add many graphical enhancements? if any? just more AA and higher REZ and much higher framerate.

Which all accounts to power, they could of made it look better and only run in say 30-40 FPS on 8800+ hardware.

AdrianWerner

The logic is in the fact that a pc exclusive needs to be carefully defined before a comparison to consoles can be made. Are flash games pc exclusives? What about games that can run on any computer? What if they can run on any new Vista computer? Should they still be given equal weight to something like Fable 2?

Should XBLA games then count as xbox exclusives?

Comparing pc to console exclusives only really makes sense if the pc games in question require hardware that is similar or greater to the console. Otherwise it is an apples to oranges comparison.

pointless argument because flash games are freeware. But yes all PC games count and all XBLA games count. Do small indie games count as much as Fable2... of course not, but neither do tons or normal retail 360 games, let alone any Wii game count when compared to games like Crysis

AdrianWerner

You do not make any sense. Why would it be like this... you are just looking for a weak excuse to downplay ammount of pc exclusives. if you do not count certain PC games because they are too simple then I can just as well stop counting majority of modern console games, because they look cheap compared to Crysis

PC360Wii

Contrary to popular belief an Xbox 360 is not a standard gaming pc in a box with half a gig of ram. The 360 has a custom triple core ibm powerpc cpu that is designed for 3d drawing, and a custom video card that is designed to work closely with the cpu. The 360 also benefits from not having a heavy os overhead.

This is why a game designed for the 360 can actually run worse on a pc if not ported properly. Could Crysis run on the 360? Probably, but since the Crysis engine is designed for a standard gaming pc it would probably take a lot of work to make it run at a decent level. I bet if they actually tried bringing Crysis to consoles they would just use the multiplat Far Cry 2 engine and slap Crysis 3d models on it and call it Crysis Predator or something.

[QUOTE="-DrRobotnik-"]Dawn of War II has a good chance of going to consoles as well.ExplosiveChorro

you didnt just say that....

I know it seems ridiculous considering Relic havent brought any of their RTSs to consoles. But when i read this, it just seemed there was a possibility there.

"Relic sees RTS on console as a very interesting proposition but so far, it hasn't been a good fit for the games we have made," producer Mark Noseworthy told CVG in an interview to be published later this week.

The control scheme is again to blame. "We don't see porting a traditional PC RTS to console as a very good strategy because the controls, by definition, are incompatible with the game design. To do RTS on console right, you have to develop from the ground up and rethink what it means to have real-time-strategy gameplay."

There is some good news for Relic's console fans (the studio also did The Outfit on 360) though in the form of this little bone: "Dawn of War II isn't a traditional RTS and I think it would make a much better candidate for porting to console than any of our previous games but there are no such plans right now."

Anyways project offset is multiplat and doesn't have a release date. I don't see any crysis type games on the horizon. Big budget pc exclusives are going the way of the dinosaur. The pc holiday lineup this year is the worst I have ever seen.

dc337

Oh really? and "console" lineup is soo good /end sarcasm

btw,its strange how people put all 3 consoles vs pc

pointless argument because flash games are freeware. But yes all PC games count and all XBLA games count. Do small indie games count as much as Fable2... of course not, but neither do tons or normal retail 360 games, let alone any Wii game count when compared to games like Crysis

AdrianWerner

So because flash games are free they are not considered exclusives? What if linerider comes to xbla? Will it become a console exclusive?

Is battlefield heroes not a pc exclusive because it is free?

You do not make any sense. Why would it be like this... you are just looking for a weak excuse to downplay ammount of pc exclusives. if you do not count certain PC games because they are too simple then I can just as well stop counting majority of modern console games, because they look cheap compared to Crysis

AdrianWerner

My point has been made by your own attempt at defining which pc games are exclusive and which are not. It is a subjective definition and must be clearly defined before anyone compares pc to console exclusives. You draw the line at flash games, I draw it at games that can be played on a Vista-capable pc. Thus I do not consider Spore to be a pc exclusive. Crysis yes, Spore no.

I can play this game on my 2 year old budget laptop. Is linerider.com also a pc exclusive?dc337

Of course, but i heard it might come out for wii also

Do you even know what exclusive means? Exclusive = limited to a selected few, not divided or shared with others;

So like it or not, those games are pc exclusives, and they are great games

The best pc games this fall are on consoles, and the consoles have their own exclusives so yes I would say that they have a good lineup. Excellent in fact, especially the 360.

Crysis is not going to consoles. I think these pictures pretty much say why:

Senor_Kami

Most PCs can't even run Crysis on high settings. I'd bet it would look and play better on consoles than on the majority of PCs (especially considering most PCs ship with crummy built in video cards).

Except now a days you can get a video card that will run the game on very high for under $200.. The PC still has the most highly rated exclusives, and exclusive announcements.

Of course we all know what the literal definition is, it just becomes a problem when comparing pc and console exclusives.

Or do you have no problem with this statement:

Because there are more free mac widget games than xbox 360 exclusives, the mac has more exclusives than the 360. The Xbox 360 can't compete with the mac when it comes to game exclusives.

spore is multiplatform

world in conflict is going to 360

crysis will most likly go on consoles

and i mean GOOD exclusives

and new...

BTW not saying it doesnt casue there are probably heaps of good exclusives that i dont know about but im just asking

PSfanboy101

Spore is multiplat as different games.. Its like GRAW 1.. No matter what people said the xbox 360 game is an exclusive since it differs so much from the other versions ..

Crysis is said too be the last crytek games that are exclusive for PC. And really.. its a 1 year old game, if it wasn't exclusive it would be announced by now..

WiC was cancelled like a year ago for the xbox 360?

TC arguments fails..

[QUOTE="Espada12"]PC has the most exclusives, probably followed by the Wii, 360 doesn't have that many released aside from some JRPGS and ninja gaiden, PS3 doesn't have many worthwhile ones. Espada12

see the link above. the order is pc > 360 > wii > ps3

Ah ok I see it now. I always thought the wii had more ;o

Way to throw out your little nerd 'fail' graphic though. I'm glad that it gave you some temporary satisfaction.

And you are not a nerd for posting on a gaming forum?

I never wrote they aren't exclusive, they obviously are. It's just pointless to argue about because they don't get reviewed by Gamespot anyway, so they still can't be used in SW as "ownage"

I didn't draw that line. TO me even flash games are exclusive. There's only one definition of exclusive, you can't make up your own.

But hey...I can use your logic too... if the only pc exclusives are those that require Vista-capable PC than the only console exclusives are those that require HDTV. :D

There's no console game this fall anywhere near Crysis level of graphics. Thus obviously consoles have no exclusives this fall.:D

dc337

So? We always do take the quality into account. So I don't see any problem here. If those widget games would get reviewed and score high they would count as exclusives and could be used as comparision fodder.

I don't see anyone using Big Rigs, a PC exclusive mind you, as a "weapon" against console line-ups of exclusives

since when can I play stalker on a console? stalker and stalker cs are both pc exclusive coh is pc exclusive

medium settings looks better than console games, sure it would play better on consoles than on a intel gma but gaming pcs now have something like a 9600gt/8800gt/4850/4870 and all those can run high settings if not very high
