[QUOTE="clyde46"]It was old before it started. Its a massive world with a depth of a puddle.Obviously_Right

I believe TotalBiscuit called it "an Ocean with the depth of a Puddle".

A truly excellent way to describe the game.

You are correct.

Once I completed my gaming rig, it was the first game i purchased. I have 53 mods installed atm and it looks incredible.

You can throw it in the conversation of Game of the Generation, imo. Don't listen to Ps3 fanboys, they got the shaft and act like its a bad game.

Main quest is boring, side quest is all dungeon raiding, combat is clumsy. No mods can save dat boringness.

it definitely wears off, and those inter personal interactions you speak of get less and less impressive. The game feels like you're in the Truman Show. Everyone is just pretending the world is real for your benefit.

Yes, it does taper off. Especially once you start progressing further into the skill trees, wear out all the limited gear options the game has available, realise how the radiant quests work (or eventuallu bug out), get bored of the combat, unlock all the locations. And im one of those that enjoyed it a fair bit. It just doesnt have the legs. Thank goodness for mods, though.

I never got the appeal to begin with, but I know I'm like the only one, I'm sorry I refuse to support a game that is broken on one of the systems, I'm especially outraged it got GOTY awards despite those bugs..

I haven't played it, but probably. Oblivion was amazing when I started playing it, but gradually it got duller and duller until I didn't want to play it anymore and never touched it again.

Its the glitches and performance issues that's pissing me off. Up until October, I had problems with glitches. Now the glitches are no longer an issue but now I'm having issues with framerates. Every time I fast travel or enter in and out of a house, the framerates will go from a steady 30+ FPS to 10-15FPS. Only restarting the game temporarily fixes the problem before it starts all over again. I'm still hoping a fix is coming because I wasn't having frame rate issues until recently....

I was always impressed by the sheer size of the world and amount of content, but I burned out after about 130 hours, which is fair place to finally get tired of it. Around that point it really sank in that these quests aren't actually going to get good. It's always going to be me going into a cave and killing some hard skeleton boss or a mage that shoots ice/electricity. Exploring wears off because you've probably seen everything that matter and, what's really worst of all, you start hitting level caps in many of your favorite skill trees and there is nothing new to do/learn. I hope they eventually do an expansion that fills the game world with a ridiculous amount of new spells and adds perks that add like another 50 or 100 levels to the skill trees. That or a brand new Shivering Isles style land mass to explore is what I'm waiting for to jump back in.

I will always be impressed by Skyrim's world and the size of it, but after 130+ hrs of gameplay including the completion of the main quest I grew tired of the game. It became repetitive after a while, but I will be returning to Skyrim after the Drangonborn DLC releases. DRAGON MOUNTS FTW!

Got old for me real quick tbh. I know a lot of people love the game and I don't mean any offence to those people, but for me Skyrim was just a crappy game. Combat was terrible, dated doesn't even begin to describe it, even for a PC based WRPG it was clunky as hell. Melee combat in first person never works well at the best of times but Skyrim's was horrible, third person view would help if it didn't look like your character was completely disconnected from the world. Slightly better as a mage, but meh. Levelling system was irritating, good idea in principle but annoying in practice, scaling enemies didn't exactly help. Loot and item management were a pain, spent way too much time sorting through bags and transferring items to allies or discarding. NPC's were ugly and badly animated, spouting incredibly boring dialogue that just begged to be skipped, main story was brief and dull, vast majority of side quests were just copy pasted fetch/kill quests with the same unimaginative enemies and virtually identical locations. There were occasional side quests that were a bit more imaginative, but too few and far between to make much difference. I can see the appeal of having a large world to explore, but when it's so dry and devoid of interest who cares? If the game was actually fun to play that would be be something, but the gameplay is really poor.I loved the Fallout games and most of the other big RPG's this gen, Kingdom's of Amalur, Dark Souls, Witcher 2, the ME series, I even enjoyed Fable 3 more than Skyrim at least that game had basic but reasonably fun combat, witty writing, memorable characters and an engaging if limited world to explore. No amount of mods can fix Skyrim's problems, the game wasn't any fun for me on any level.

I found it amazing for the first 15 hours thanks to the beautiful environment you can explore, although it ends up feeling like a lonely MMO with a bland script, dry characters, repetetive dungeons and enemies, and shallow quests repeated from the past. I couldn't bring myself to complete it, it became too easy and it just didn't captivate me.

As much as people dislike the combat I quite enjoy it. Next to no games actually pull off melee combat in FP well and at least Bethesda are taking a stab at improving it each game. FP melee's always more satisfying than third person and more impressive; 3rd person = detached and less immersive for me.

STupid thread is stupid..... EVERYTHING WEARS OFF.

Miranda Kerr's A$$ after a certain period of time loses its appeal, eventually you'll want a new A$$ to stare at.

I've put a couple hundred hours into the 360 version myself.

Everytime I get bored, I just start a new profile with a new race and play with a style I never use, like full mage or strictly use Bows and knives.

It's been my favorite game all gen.

It wears off after a mere few hours. It's incredibly shallow.

It got old for me quickly, combat is simplistic and tedious (constantly have to change active spells) and the game world is bland. Quests design is boring and the writing, story and dialogue isn't awful but it's nothing to write home about.

I think the sense of wonder you get from the huge world to explore wears off once you familiarize yourself with the game, it doesn't take long to learn what to expect.

When I first got out in to the big open world, I thought, "Wow, this is huge! There is so much to explore! What's up on that mountain? What's over there in the forest? What kind of animals live down there? What kind of loot can I find here?" and so on. Unfortunately it doesn't take too long to realise that not everything on the map is placed there with any specific purpose. "I wonder whats up on that cliff" turns in to "I know whats up on that cliff, and its nothing" without going on the actual trek. You quickly become familiar with the wildlife and enemies, and you quickly learn what kind of loot is valuable or not.

When I first started playing, every play session was like planning and going out on an epic Hobbit/LoTR quest. That feeling isn't permanent.

That being said, I'd say I got my money's worth before I fully got to that point, and even after, still an enjoyable game.
