perhaps when i said "many" it was overstated obviously, perhaps several is the corect word smackdown 2008 is a greatest hits now, and is a WWE licensed game, so I'd hardly call it a game no one cares about from reading neogaf, Rock Band 1 didn't have voice chat on ps3? ... really? http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=304188

This and how unintutive the whole system is.. Getting friends to join a game I invite them to was confusing because it was completely illogical.. It sends a message saying " Do you want to play?".. No accept or decline etc etc like you think there would.. INstead you have to go to a completely seperate menu and select their profile to join... No voice chat messages either.. I would pay monthlyf ee any day if it would be like XBL for sure.. Thats what I think PS3's weakness is.sSubZerOo
interesting points ; perhaps the unintiitiveness of the ps3's online like yorue describing is why they didnt include headsets in bundles.

Everytime I have been in a PSN game ever, everyone (Except me) has had a headset. I have one, but don't care at all to talk to random people while playing a game.

Also, a Blue Tooth headset is the same price as a crappy 360 one. The only reason why more people on XBL have them is because the console comes with one.

Anyone who says it doesn't clearly doesn't play on both consoles. Yes it does hinder online play. Most games less then 1/2 the players have mics. Ever try and play team leader when 70% of the players have no mics? Not fun.

SpideR_CentS
lol yeah, when i read on multiplat games, most people say ps3 players do not chat or have mics, how frustrating which made me remember the game Spider Man 3 review by IGN. they said that New your city is dead--no chatting civilians, nothing, it's all quiet, like a game w/o personality. that comment by ign made me refer to ps3's online community in a way. also, does Home support voice chat? i think that's like the next big thing for ps3's online community

Yes it does, I mean why bother putting one in the box that does everything? Or a remote? Anyways, headsets should be standard like 360 has been doing since launch.

immortality20

Wi-Fi should have been standard like it is in the PS3, Wii, DS and PSP but why bother doing that in a supposed next gen system.

IMO, yes the lack of headsets hinders the multiplayer alot. When I play a multiplayer PS3 game it is just like playing with AI in single player mode. That is why I rarely play any game online with the PS3.

Yeah I think so. It wouldn't cost too much extra to throw in some cheap wired headset like MS does with the 360.

Really now? Wow. That's pathetic. Obviously it didn't matter because nobody must care about those games, I've never heard one person ever mention the lack of voice chat on any PS3 game. How does 3 garbage games warrant "many" anyways? Oh yes, there's just SO MANY games that don't support voice chat on the PS3. Soooooo many.Messiahbolical-

Yes it does. But why not just get a PS3 and find out for yourself instead of sitting on here and asking all these questions, posting all this crap about lame wrestling games not having voice chat even though 99% of games do. I'll tell you what, I have 2 Bluetooths and a USB mic and sometimes I don't even turn them on. Why? Because I don't care. It's just voice chat. It's used mostly to talk crap. I use them only when I'm playing with actual friends, clan members, or people on my friends list on my PSN that I party up with. When I'm playing a shooter and I'm just doing regular matchmaking with no party, half of the time I don't even touch my Bluetooth because there's no real reason to. Party up with people. It's your best option. As someone who owns a PS3 and is on it often, I can say that the PS3's "online community" is great. The only problem I have is that there's a lot of European and Spanish speaking people on compared to the 360 and I can't understand them, they really annoy the crap out of me so I mute them. Other than that it's perfect. Just party up with friends and mute everyone else is your best option by far.

You haven't asked about anything that's actually important, such as the quality of the games on the PS3. All you've asked about is stupid stuff like voice chat and headsets. Who cares? You know 99% of the online games have voice chat. You know Home has voice chat. If those were your only issues, then what's holding you back from just getting a PS3? $300 is a STEAL for what you get out of the box with a PS3. Worse comes to worse, you can try it out for a few months then just sell it if you decide you don't like it... but I highly doubt that once you have it you're going to ever want to get rid of it. It's a great console.

Bluetooth technology is much cheaper than it was 3 years ago, but not enough for them to include a Bluetooth Headset in every console iis my guess.

KittyHeart

i was thinking now that time's passed, they should include soemthing, even if it's cheap

They should mack headsets that connect into the mini usb on the controller.

Home is the most worthless thing I've ever seen. Nothing but load screens and waiting in lines to play games. How sad is it to wait in a virtual line to play a crappy bowling or arcade game.

It's actually really good for the number one thing it's meant to be used for: Talking and meeting new people. If you don't do either, then I can understand why you wouldn't like it.

The few times I've been on Home everyone is running around looking for females, and I would have to assume that at least 75% of the female avatars are really guys trying to mess with people. I'm waiting for the Catch a Predator: PSN Home edition.

I also haven't been on it since Feb or so, don't know if things have changed. I never heard anyone actually using a mic.

Not at all. In 2007 and most of 2008 it was pretty quiet on PSN, but now the community is very audible. Most games, usually have at least 80% of people using headsets. And i've noticed in smaller multiplayer games, almost everyone has a headset.

It's not sarcasm. 5 is a lot considering he probably rarely goes on, same with me. I've made a few good friends on Home and I only go on like once every few months. If you go on often, you could make loads of friends. I know that Home also has special events and gatherings such as watching movies in the theater that are set up by the administrators, and I'm sure you could set up your own special events or gatherings if you want. If you're a girl, get ready to get chased around by creepy desperate men or boys though. lol Make your avatar ugly so they wont come around. ;)
