And if so, why?
I made this thread because I remembered there were suicides because Final Fantasy XIII went over to the 360 (not sure if true) and the recent fear about "consolization" of PC games going multiplatform.

All exclusive means is that you can only play a game on one system.
One mentality people here on SW need to grow out of is the legend that if a game is an exclusive, it's good. Just because a game is exclusive doesn't mean it's good.
If you are so arrogant about what games your system is capable of playing and then get mad when they go multiplatform, then this is all I've got to say to you.
Please work on your insecurity issues.
I really dont think about it that much.It kindeve sucks when u only have one system and a cool game comes out for the console that u dont have.Luckily ive got all three current gen systems so i dont have that problem.Personally id rather thier be only one console so we could all enjoy the same games but if that ever happend you wouldnt see the industry grow and developers would get lazy, its definatly a double edged sword.
Well if it migrates from exclusive on an alternative platform to the platforms I use, then it affects my enjoyment because it allows me to play it.
But if it goes the other way, it doesn't affect me whatsoever really. It makes SW more interesting though.
This only bothers me if the version I like or want is somehow rendered inferior to what it would have been if still exclusive.
Since most multiplats are near identical between 360 and PS3, this does not pose any issue to me. Even when the 360 wins side-by-side comparisons, most differences are very superficial anyway.
I would be upset if I still only played PC games, like I did in the past. It seems true, unfortunately, that many former PC exclusives have become consolized or "dumbed down" for the sake of sale and support on the consoles. Unfortunately, the PC title will suffer because of this, but it is not always the case.

Nope. It didn't affect Doom 3, Half Life 2, Bioshock, or any of the Tomb Raider games for me.I still have all of them installed on my PC. In fact, I expect the number of mutiplats to increase with each succeeding generation of consoles. It's only natural as consoles increase in CPU and graphics capabilities.
I hope those rumors about suicides aren't true because that'd be the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. Those people have their priorities totally out of whack.
If the game DOES get consolized, then yes I get annoyed. (Thinks about Deus Ex 2 and cries) tagyhag
That game wasn't well received by many console gamers either I think.
If the game DOES get consolized, then yes I get annoyed. (Thinks about Deus Ex 2 and cries) If the game is built separately, then I don't mind at all and in fact encourage it.tagyhagBasically this. Though I would argue that certain games should never come to consoles because of it. The AVP series, for instance.
Depends. If a game is only ported to consoles (like for example was with Risen or Gray Matter) then no, I don't mind it. However when a PC-centric IP becomes a true mulitplat (ie..the console version is made alongside PC one from day 1) then most of the time I find the game much worse because of that. I've been burned so many times now that currently I loose any hype I had for a project the moment I see console influence in it. Sometimes they end up being good despite that and I gladly buy them, but console influence in development kills any hype I have before the game is released. And if so, why?

Still, currently there are so many PC-exclusives and PC-first games that I have more than enouigh to play and the new trend lets me experience high quality ports from consoles too, so overalll I'm happy with his the industry is right now.
depends on the game, like how re5 became more like a western tps, it was probly because they try to appeal to 360 audience whos got a big fanbase in the USjohnlennon28Oh yeah that was the reason:roll:

I don't think that was the case since RE4 was already a horror shooter instead of a survival horror game.

It wasn't, and they COULD have made it like the original Deus Ex (The game wasn't limited by the hardware of the consoles, just casualized)The existence of other versions doesn't automatically lessen my enjoyment, but for a PC game traits that can be directly attributed to the console versions can lessen my enjoyment if they are strong enough. For many games it's just little niggling things here and there that don't ruin the overall experience, but for many others the whole game reeks of being dumbed down for the mass market. If a PC exclusive gets a console port later on it doesn't affect enjoyment in any way since the game was built with the PC in mind and any concessions will be made only for the console version rather than for all releases, but this then raises concerns about whether these changes will be carried over to the PC as well should the sequel be simultaneously multi-platform.
Fear of PC games being consolized is by no means a recent occurrence; it started on the first Xbox, triggered by Deus Ex: Invisible War. The situation only got worse in this generation with more and more titles making the jump with frequently disappointing results.
The only time an exclusive series going multi-platform matters at all is if the series was a PC exclusive (e.g. Crysis) or designed solely for the PC with console versions as an afterthought (e.g. Deus Ex). For console titles, going multi-platform doesn't matter at all because the game was always going to be made for a console audience and there's no significant difference between the audiences of the two consoles. Similarly, adding a PC version for the sequel of a console-only game (e.g. Saints Row 2) won't negatively affect the console version's development in any way since the PC audience requires no pandering and it's really easy to port the 360 code to the PC (in fact much easier than making the PS3 version of the game).
Final Fantasy XIII is of course the definitive example of a single-console game going multi-platform; it was going to be a bad game all along because of the decisions they made during development, not because a second platform was added to the mix. Sure, it would have had a bit more polish if there had been only one version to work on, but that would not have overturned the poorly-received design decisions they made from the very beginning.
[QUOTE="waltefmoney"][QUOTE="Messiahbolical-"]FF13 went multiplat and it was still an amaz.... oh wait.Lto_thaG
Any other examples?
Devil May Cry 4? But them going multiplat didn't had anything to do with the game itself.I liked DMC 4. But wasn't DMC 3 on PC also? That's a multiplat.

It was.Never played that version though. No, unless the ported version of the game gets extra content missing from the original game *cough* Tales of Vesperia *cough*

DJ-Lafleur
This is standard for JRPGs though, even on the same platform (e.g. the "International Version" re-releases in Japan that give the Japanese access to the new content added for other regions--owners of the original Japanese release don't get the new content without buying the game again).
I do have a big issue with consolized games to pc, butI don't really care if a console game goes to another console, why would I?
mass effect 3 is going to be multiplat. doesn't stop it from becoming one of the best games ever made.
Do y have a crystal ball, and if we're going by score then mass1,2 are not that graet to be concidered "one of the greatest games" ever.mass effect 3 is going to be multiplat. doesn't stop it from becoming one of the best games ever made.
Dead-Memories
After it's release? Nope. But if it starts to get obvious that a exclusive gets dumped down to port it easier, it does bug me since I own every system and can easely play any exclusive.
