Does the PS3 fail as much as the 360?

My 360 RROD'd on me, and I wanna know whether I should take my chances on a new 360, or get a new PS3.

Does the PS3 fail as much as the 360 does?I want pretty much the same games for each system, Guitar Hero Metallica and World Tour, plus MGS4 for PS3 or Halo 3 for a new 360.

I ask here because I know this board is a haven of mature people, and not fanboys.

:D @ last sentence. and no, it doesn't. i think the 360's failure rate was like 35% and now its like 25%. not sure, but the PS3's failure rate is around 5-10%. i don't know anyone whos PS3 has failed on them. can't say the same about 360SilverChimera

the NES barely had any moving parts unlike current consoles.

So, what failure rate did the PS2 have? Because I've had it for nearly a year, and it works like a charm.

Also my old Xbox, I got that used, and it still works.

Out of the 4 360's that I have had 3 have died/rrod. My Ps3 that I got 06 has never given me any problems.

no not at all This is a true fact 54% of XBox's fail while the Ps3 is at ten percent and its a more powerful system overall

360 failed 7 times

ps3 failed 0 times

Based on personal experience. I have gotten more play time out of 360 honestly, but ps3 is getting tons lately.

The PS3 is a far more stable machine than the 360. But if one breaks on you, good luck with their customer support.

Well, they do have a lot of different components included, but to me the difference is the companies making them. Sony is an electronics manufacturer... it's what they've been doing for decades. It's the core of their business. MS, is THE software giant. Software is the core of their business. It's what they've been doing for decades. I'm not surprised that MS has had some issues designing new hardware. It is a market they are relatively new at.

Not that I'm bashing the 360 for its hardware issues. Sony's track record on past consoles reliability isn't anything to brag about, and MS, at great expense, delivered the best warranty in the console industry (by far) to insure that people buying a 360 can safely say that they will be able to enjoy their 360 for years. While Sony's console this generation has fared better in reliability, they aren't exactly standing behind their product like MS has. If you are one of the unfortunate PS3 owners that have had a YLOD more than 1 year after purchase, that $150 out of your pocket.

Honestly, there are sooooo many more worthy topics to be debating than this one.
