So, basically, you are saying that people who have 3Dot Heroes or LBP will not want to play SMG, SMG2 or NSMBWii, and Zelda TP...really?

PandaBear86
I have LBP and I don't care about Mario anymore. I havent touched my Wii in 8 months. And I never liked Zelda much in the first place. Zelda TP bored me out.

His statement was asking about all people? Seeing has how those games sell better I guess though the question should have been reversed. Then you also have the fact the 3Dot Heroes is a Zelda like game. Which based on your statement of not liking Zelda I am guessing you would not like 3Dot Heroes either. Even though I don't understand why you played TP if you don't like Zelda.

I never played 3D Dot Heroes., its not even released in my country. I have seen previews and some review on Kotaku and it looked decent enough to me. The main reason why I didn'y like Zelda was because the puzzles weren't too exciting for me.

Tales of Graces, Xenoblade, The Last Story. As for games already out, Tales of Symphonia, Rune Factory Frontier, and others.

Arkham Asylum is an answer to Zelda and Luigi's Mansion.

As an owner of a 360, psp, ds, PC and Wii, I think that the Wii has put out the best games of the year so far other than the PC. I've played most of the PS3 games too at my friend's apartment.

when most of their games are designed/marketed towards the elderly and children, yes. Monster Hunter 3 seems to be the only legit game that tries to compete.....although it fails.

My sister is playing Monster Hunter 3 on the Wii right now, and she says she wishes it was on Xbox 360 instead because she wants the better graphics and better online. Could have been so much better for her if it was on 360. I havent played the game, and havent played the Wii in ages.

Well, if you're going down that route, just about everything could be better if it was only made for the PC.

The game as it is is incredibly kickass though.

Well yes, PC games ARE superior. I have been a PC gamer for many years, so I know what its like ;) When it comes to multiplat games, it goes like this: PC >>> PS3/360 >>>>>>>>>>> Wii

It doesn't really need to though. As long as Nintendo continue to release their own special exclusives like Zelda, Mario Galaxy 2, Super Mario World, Firefox, Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest IX & X, etc...they will do fine. There are more casual gamers, then hardcore games in the world. Want proof? Wii 70+ million units sold compared to PS3 34+ million & XBox 360 39+ million. Out of the 70+ million who bought a Wii, at least 15 million of them are probably casual gamers who only bought a Wii and are first time gamers. So even though the Wii is competing against the PS3 and XBox 360, they are so far ahead is sales and profits, that I don't thik Nintendo is thinking about what games they need to compare with PS3 or 360. They are thinking about what games will appeal to their casual gamer userbase.

Considering that I'm not interested in any of those games, does it have to?

goblaa

This. I don't like most games PS360 crowd likes. I'm only into Uncharted and MGS out of the "top tier" games.

Batman AA was a shallow piece of **** gameplay wise.

The 3 games on the topic are all better on the PC, lol.

I hate how Nintendo thinks its okay to ignore their customers because they make so much money. Sony made all kinds of innovative games of multiple genres even when they were making loads of profits form the PS2.

I think the moral of this thread is that single system owners are going to miss out on a lot no matter what system they own.

i dont think you have a grasp of how or what Nintendo is trying to achieve... all you want is for all 3 systems to be identical for some illogical reason

Ye, just like GTA4's equally shallow gameplay. The controls are nice though. But hey if you liked the endless "drive from A to B" which took 10 mins sometimes, then go ahead and like it.

The HD consoles does not have an answer for everything on Wii. So there's your answer.

I can understand GTA4 has lots of "driving from A to B", but then again all Mario games are all "endless rescuing the princess". All games are simple in some ways. At least all the GTA games have different storylines, while Mario games are all "rescue the princess over and over".

Yes, that's why I don't disagree with AAA / AAAA scores. It's just that I only care for gameplay. For what it is, a storybased game, it's awesome I agree. But I personally dislike it

It might not need a strong story, but I'm sure a multi-billion dollar company can do a better job than just "rescue the princess". Even my 9-year old niece can come up with something better than that.

LBP was about customisation, so focusing on a core storyline wouldn't suit it. But look at Sony's other games like Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, as well as their old PS1 games like Spyro the Dragon. They had decent stories, much better than just recuing the princess :)

First of all Wii is meant for a different market. But considering its capabilities, you might as well be asking why the Gamecube had nothing directly comparable to Uncharted 2. Wii just doesn't have the legs to handle something similar to Fallout 3, Oblivion or Bioshock without watering the experience down. I'm not talking about graphics either. On the technical level its virtually a generation behind with what dev's can produce on it.

Yes, I understand that. But, just because you have a strong storyline doesn't mean the gameplay has to be compromised in any way. I can name many games with great storylines and great gameplay. I wouldn't even know where to begin :D

'good' storyline? since when did the storyline for any platformers EVER make any sense?

to clarify, im talking about actual platformers... not action/adventure platformers like R&C

LBP is just ONE game from Sony that lacks a storyline. Its okay if just a small portion of your games lack a storyline IMO. But with Nintendo, pretty much all games lack a storyline. Mario, Zelda, Metriod, all those games have weak storylines.

Story would only dilute mario games more than they already have been.

[QUOTE="musicalmac"][QUOTE="PandaBear86"]Yes, I understand that. But, just because you have a strong storyline doesn't mean the gameplay has to be compromised in any way. I can name many games with great storylines and great gameplay. I wouldn't even know where to begin :DPandaBear86
So why is LBP exempt from this? Seems like a double standard.

LBP is just ONE game from Sony that lacks a storyline. Its okay if just a small portion of your games lack a storyline IMO. But with Nintendo, pretty much all games lack a storyline. Mario, Zelda, Metriod, all those games have weak storylines.

so do they lack a storyline or have a weak storyline? you cant have both

Why do you think Zelda has a weak storyline? By your logic Metroid is exempt, because it's all about exploration, and discovery. That's better than most poorly told stories, honestly. Mario is all about platforming gameplay. Why did you choose to exclude 3rd party games from your "weak storyline" point?

Storyline in LBP would be too unusual. Just a sackboy running around in a crazy world, having a beefy story just wouldn't make much sense, But just to accept the criticism, I agree that LBP could use a better storyline and Sony/ Media Molecule did a lazy job hadling the story. But LBP is just one game, the next game in the series may have a good storyline. But do you think Mario will ever get a better storyline apart from "rescue the priness". Don't bet on it :)

LittleBigPlanet does not answer to Super Mario Galaxy. To NSMB sure, but not to the Wii's best game. Ratchet and Clank doesn't answer to it either, not even close. 3D Dot Game Heroes would answer to Zelda if Zelda was a AA franchise and was still being made in the old fashioned 2-D style.... unfortunately for you it's a AAA series and no longer made in the old style aped by 3DDGH. There's no answer to Metroid either, as Halo, Killzone, etc. are NOT similar to it. MP is an adventure series in the first person view, it's not a first person shooter by any means.

So no it doesn't, but the 360 and PS3 don't answer back.

[QUOTE="tomarlyn"]First of all Wii is meant for a different market.

It doesn't work like that. Just because it's on a less graphically intesive console doesn't mean it can't be done. How do you explain the adventure games for the N64, or PS2, or Gamecube, or Xbox, or Wii?

Like I said I wasn't necessarily talking eye candy.

Last gen's adventure games were not as technically demanding on the processor's or RAM available, as current gen adventures are. It would be very naive to assume a Gamecube or PS2 could handle a Fallout 3 or Bioshock without serious compromise.

Shadow Of The Colossus did a great job creating an epic adventure within a huge world on limited hardware spec's. But it had to make that world almost completely empty and find an excuse within the story to explain it (its a banished land).

Mario isn't about the storyline.

Looks like hot crap and is full of pop-in. Sometimes if I drove very far, very fast, the cars would eventually dissapear. I'd have to stop and wait 5 seconds just for the roads to re-populate themselves. It was like the opening scene of 28 Days Later.
