I own all three current consoles (360, PS3, Wii) and from what I can see and experience the answer is definitely no.
Sure, the Wii brings about a new way to control your video games, however, is it really as good as its made out to be? I think some of you are just so jaded by the concept of gamepads that this new Wiimote makes it feel like the games are 2x better than they would be if played with gamepads. Here lies the problem: Every Wii game thus far of quality standards has indeed provided a solid new and fresh experience thanks to the control scheme...but as time progresses the impressiveness of these inputs begins to feel like a regularity as well. The Wii has one major thing going for it....initial wow-factor impressions the first time you play it, and I believe that is whats making them sell like hotcakes. Truth of the matter is, after many months of game time with the Wii it becomes just as dull as the gamepads do. The novelty wears off and your left just focusing directly on whats on the screen. Some of you here think this Wiimote will have an INFINITE amount of motions, but it will never be that way. There is going to come a point soon where you've done these motions before in another game and its not going to have that initial immersiveness it once had. You people saying Wii gameplay > Graphics fail to realize this. The Wii is not a virtual reality machine, It is not working in a full 360 degree space....theres only so many motions that can be done with a television screen directly in front of you.
So comes the point where you look passed the controller and focus on the action on the screen. The Nintendo Wii is not going to bring anything large to the table in terms of Graphics, Artifical Intelligence, Sound and Physics that hasnt been seen last generation. These things also help suck you into a game just as much if not more than just a simple input device. Those factors do improve "Gameplay" and do enhance the overall experience. The sheep argument of Gameplay > Graphics is definitely a moot one that needs to stop. Stick to sales numbers.
