I own all three current consoles (360, PS3, Wii) and from what I can see and experience the answer is definitely no.

Sure, the Wii brings about a new way to control your video games, however, is it really as good as its made out to be?  I think some of you are just so jaded by the concept of gamepads that this new Wiimote makes it feel like the games are 2x better than they would be if played with gamepads. Here lies the problem:  Every Wii game thus far of quality standards has indeed provided a solid new and fresh experience thanks to the control scheme...but as time progresses the impressiveness of these inputs begins to feel like a regularity as well.  The Wii has one major thing going for it....initial wow-factor impressions the first time you play it, and I believe that is whats making them sell like hotcakes.  Truth of the matter is, after many months of game time with the Wii it becomes just as dull as the gamepads do.  The novelty wears off and your left just focusing directly on whats on the screen.  Some of you here think this Wiimote will have an INFINITE amount of motions, but it will never be that way.  There is going to come a point soon where you've done these motions before in another game and its not going to have that initial immersiveness it once had.  You people saying Wii gameplay > Graphics fail to realize this.  The Wii is not a virtual reality machine, It is not working in a full 360 degree space....theres only so many motions that can be done with a television screen directly in front of you.

So comes the point where you look passed the controller and focus on the action on the screen.  The Nintendo Wii is not going to bring anything large to the table in terms of Graphics, Artifical Intelligence, Sound and Physics that hasnt been seen last generation.  These things also help suck you into a game just as much if not more than just a simple input device. Those factors do improve "Gameplay" and do enhance the overall experience.  The sheep argument of Gameplay > Graphics is definitely a moot one that needs to stop. Stick to sales numbers.

Well.. (and before I respond, keep in mind I did read the post)

Madden, Warioware, Trauma Center, Wii Sports, and Ray-Man are examples of games that the Wii made more fun.

I agree with sheep in saying that Gameplay > Graphics, BUT they do tend to take it too far. A game can have both, and they assume when it has graphics it lacks gameplay. On the other hand, you have been quite the opposite, which isn't any better. You have seen a few Wii titles that don't look great and completely rule them out.

As for the motion control, the Wii is capable of more than we see from it now, it'll take time the same way it takes time to take advantage of a console's capabilities graphically.

As for physics, the Wii is capable of pulling off impressive physics. Elebits is an example, and still not the peak of the Wii's capabilities in ANY department (graphics, physics, gameplay etc.)

The Wii CAN make games more fun, it's just up to the developers to make it that way.

Sooo... you play any Wiisports?

Moving the remote is a lot more fun than pushing a button... that is why do many non-gamers love it.

You think Wii Bowling will be the same experience with a gamepad? Other than Wii Bowling I've never touched a bowling game twice.

It really depends on the game. I've been playing the hell out of Tiger Woods '07 - and I've never liked EA Sports titles.

no... thats the problem with the wii rightnow for me. i though it was 360 degree of sex but it wasn't.

look at wii boxing from wii sports, you slash sideways you jab, slash forward you jab, up down upper cut, half a moon hook.

their is no 360 degree going on there.. you can only move on does directions thats like what? 180 degree? my d-pad can move 180 degree already.

I am not reading all of that (i am so lazy -_-) but i will say this, it all depends on the game.

Zelda for example, was a hell of a lot funner (yes i realize Funner isnt a word) on the wii than on any other Nintendo console (by that i mean the controls felt, and worked the best on the wii, TP is in no way the best Zelda)

Then there are games like Prince of Persia, games that have yet to prove that they can even work on the wii.

Then there are games like Red Steel, games that offer a control scheme with potential, but the game itself is just dreadful.

Meh this argument has been beaten to death. Gameplay > Graphics end of discussion. I didn't fall in love with Gears because the game loooked amazing its because it played amazing. I don't care about graphics if the game is fun and nobody else probably  should anyway especially those that like to prociam themselves lol as "Real Gamers" or "Hardcore Gamers" lol

That IS full 360.  Any movement that incorporates 3 spatial dimensions (up-down, left-right, forward-backward) is full 360, more in fact, because 360 degrees is a circle, when we're talking about more of a sphere.

In addition, Wii Sports obviously wasn't meant to showcase 1:1 movement but show how the wiimote could work in a fun way.

Wii sports on normal contols would have been garbage

Wii sports with Remote is damn fun

So that answers your question.

But the Remote does not make every game more fun, its up to the dev to make it work.

I wholeheartedly agree that it lies on the shoulders of the devs, but most sheep on this board tend to just throw around the gameplay> graphics nonsense no matter what and its definitely not the case.

What you said earlier has no bearing on what you said in that post, which implied to me that the concept of gameplay > graphics was "nonsense" and that it was "definitely not the case."

Well then, will you eventually get tired of new graphics and better AI? Its the same thing with the wii for me. You're not going to get tired of new graphics, better physics, and sound, and im not going to get tired of having a new way to play games.

There are many types of games that either

A)  Can't be played with a conventional controller.

B)  Are a completely different game when controlled differently.

For me the Wii has opened up new gaming possibilities and diversified my taste in games. I would never dream of playing something like The Godfather or even Excite Truck but the control scheme ramps up my interest tenfold. The Godfather may be a GTA clone but with controls as good as that who cares?

the answer is yes: RE4 will be more fun, Scarface will bemore fun, and Zelda was more fun WITH the wiimote. i still think it's a great innovation. To bad the graphics are horrible.

Not really, nintendo some how got it into there heads that motion sensing is insanely bettter/fun than just the ordinary controller, they where wrong... anyway wii is selling on price at the moment.. hopefully when the good games start coming on ps3/360, the wii sales will die down .

About that Gameplay>Graphics argument? Well, okay, it is kind of annoying after a while, but at least it's better than Graphics>Gameplay, or my personal favourite, Story>Gameplay. Why the heck would you want to pay 3X (in Canada) as much money for stuff that you could easily get from a movie? Or in the case of story, a novel? That other stuff serves to supplement gameplay. It should not dominate it.

Won't happen,  Gundam wasn't able to save PS3 in Japan, nor was virtua fighter, its all Wii
