Don't be fooled by Elite, $499 PS3 offers more.

I heard that the HDMI in the Elite may be inferior to the PS3s. I will have to do some investigating to get to the bottom of this.

$499 PS3 has has HDMI plus Blue-Ray (most blue-ray players are $700). Elite doesn't have HD-DVD. So essentially you're paying a lot of dough for a black 360 premium with HDMI. The bigger hardrive is another downfall, because you can buy a computer hard-drive and plug it in your PS3, no biggie. With 360 it's not the same (it can done but you risk losing your xbox). For once lets clear this up...  THE ONLY THING THE PS3 CAN DO THAT THE 360 CANNOT IS PLAY BLU-RAY MOVIES AT 1080P!  That is it, besides that the 360 does everything the PS3 does.

That is BS. :lol: It's only an interface how could it be inferior. That is saying my DVI is inferior because I am using an ATI videocard instead of a Nvidia videocard.

Actually.. it is inferior on the 360. The elite only supports HDMI 1.2 while the PS3 supports HDMI 1.3

Anyone who pays 70 bucks for a HDMI cable is a !@#$ing moron. End of story. Its a digital signal, either it works or it doesnt. I got one for my PS3 for 8 bucks shipped and it works perfectly.

Well, if you want to talk about hard drives, then 89.00 > 180.00 for a 120GB HDD. As you can buy ANY SATA laptop drive, by ANY maker in order to upgrade your PS3, and it will not void your warranty. I bought a Toshiba 120GB for my 20 GB (now 120GB) PS3 for 89.00 at newegg.com.

Now, you consider all of the early adopters (I am one, as I own a premium 360 as well) that may want a larger HDD, but of course do not want to shell out the dough for the Elite. They will only have the option (gee, how considerate) of buying a Microsoft HDD for 180.00, which will bring their total 360 investment to 580.00....still without HDMI or an HDDVD drive.....WHAT A DEAL, LOL.

Now, according to my math, THAT is where the rip-off lies....the early adopters getting screwed if they want to "upgrade", lol. "But gee, Microsoft is just giving us more options"....PLEEEEAASSEEEE.:lol: I do not know whether to laugh, cry, puke....or all three at the same time.

One of the biggest complaints about the 360 elite is that there's no wifi....I don't know for a fact but does the 499 PS3 have Wifi? Serious question. I don't know.fatzombiepigeon
