Don't understand why consoles still exist after the ps1/n64

PC gaming is huge and it was massive during then too. I have my own dvd player + VHS so i never needed a ps2 for dvd's and bluray is complete crap so I never wanted a ps3 or ps4.

PS1 had a ton of great games same with the n64 but other if you look at ps2 and the ps3 its just boring crap besides maybe god of war or a few games here and there. xbox was trash and xbox 360 didn't even have a bluray drive.

Laptops + Desktop + android tablet and phone is all i need for my gaming needs handhelds have sucked after the GBA

folks lets be real here go into a starbucks kids are playing league of legends on their laptops their not fucking playing on a ps4 or whatever the hell sony is cooking up.

its over its done with PC won and consoles shouldn't exist and its disgusting that they still do they serve no purpose

PC is just friggin king of backwards compatibility plethora of games from every generation its got your back the consoles don't have your back you can't even buy ps1 games on ps4 this "ecosystem sucks"

A smart tv doesn't need a console and gamers just need a good PC theres no room left for a console in our lives. I think we should just all agree on that here.

I mean damn Mac's and PC's have been pretty much just plug it in since the 80's theres like one cord for the power supply and one cord for the monitor and one for network cable thats 3 things its basic plug and play.

witht he consoles you have to login with names pay for online and if SONY OR XBOX say you are offline YOU GO OFFLINE with the PC your ISP is the only one who can tell you to go offline

so no dude ease of use is a fail on the consoles side of things people know computers better than consoles their in schools everywhere.

Consoles gaming after the PS1 and N64 era revolutionized online gaming. We might still be having LAN parties if it weren’t for the consoles.

but PC's got Discord/Skype and so much epicness for online gaming with communities i never seen anything like it on consoles I mean discord is just crazy its like hte facebook of gaming something the consoles will never have don't you feel bad for them?

They exist because people want to play games and not worry if they will work or not. Windows is garbage and paying 500 bucks for a decent gpu is not fun. Not everyone is into building computers or even has the time for it. Pc gaming is great but its not for everyone.

Welfare gamers need to buy a gaming system too ya know. You also can't expect mom and dad to go out and buy their 24 year old son that's still living in the same room since he was 8 yrs old, a PC or PC parts when it takes someone with the ability to research and learn something in order to do so successfully. So you can bet mom isn't going to do all that when they can buy a $250 all in one starter kit.

Odd considering PC's superior graphics, the truth is that the PC's low end CPU and low-middle GPU is always the baseline for a console to achieve. Consoles are and have always been a gamer's starter kit. It's kinda like those home theater in a box where it's a single box full of really cheap stuff but has everything a college kid in a dorm would need. Small, cute and cheap.

Nope. I was still living in the prehistoric gaming era and in late 00's, I look up into the sky and discover PC gaming.

That's exactly it. When I was a kid with no income, consoles made sense. It was easy to convince my parents to get me one. But now as an adult, I will obviously spend my money on the best gaming solution available, and that's PC. I might buy a secondary console (I have a Switch and briefly considered a PS4, but it didn't have enough exclusives to justify the price for me), but that's just for a little extra entertainment on the side. Consoles don't offer anything over the PC experience. As of last year, all Xbox exclusives get released on Windows. Sony has a handful of exclusives, but only 1 or 2 that interest me. Even though their console hardware sucks, Nintendo has the most fun IPs from the three, so I go with them for my side console. I could never get by with a console as my primary gaming platform though.

Here, I'll give you a well-thought out answer to the question.

Japanese developers are just now discovering the PC market. With absolute respect to PC for a platform, you must equally consider what the landscape of gaming would look like without the franchises that made console gaming their home after that era. Software drives hardware, not the other way around. The gravitational pull of console gaming isn't just hard for gamers to pull away from, but also publishers and developers. Console gaming is an independent Katamari rolling around in an industry that will keep making games as long as people are there to buy it. That is all the reason they need to exist.

And $$$

The answer is simple: Consoles still sell. In fact they have sold more since the N64/PS1. Why would any company stop producing them? If you refer to why do people still like them? Then its still simple: because every human has different tastes. Why this continues to boggle some people here is hilarious.

yeah but there is some xbox guys on youtube who have gtx 1080 computers and still are playing on xbox it just doesn't make any sense they have the ultimate computers and there playing on a box what the hell there only using the computer for video editiing when it should be for gaming
