Doom (2016) is coming to the Switch

@ShepardCommandr: the game card will only contain the single player part of the game. The multiplayer will have to be downloaded...witch will be free.

With that being said i wish all games were like that. It would be nice if a person can choose what parts of the game were installed on their consoles. Halo 5's forge being a example. Could save a lot on storage space.

Good news for the Switch.

Wow, that's going to take up a lot of space on a 128GB microSD card. That's not going to fit the Switch's internal storage at all. A microSD card is 100% needed. It's also going to likely get the Switch tax.

Good thing that no one cares about Doom's Multiplayer! Majority of people love the single player better.

single player requires no space. it is on the cart.

you can download the multiplayer then delete it after a week like you do all the time to make space on your ps4.

They are most likely are going to do that. If they use a game card that has more than 8gb of space it will cost $10 more.

It has some downgrades, but overall it still looks very good I must say.

Wolfenstein is running on the same engine, so they are porting it over at the same time.

I've played DOOM on my sweet ass PC already, but having DOOM on the go? Must say that's interesting.. FPS on consoles is mostly completely fucked up (if it isn't called Metroid Prime), but for DOOM I might make an exception. Not interested in Wolfenstein 2..

Yeah some effects are missing (most noticably: reflections, particles)

but model and texture quality seems to be about the same.

Surprising on two fronts; that these games can even run on the Switch, and that Nintendo would allow such graphic content on their system. I'm hard pressed to believe this would've passed in Iwata's Nintendo. It's great to see them broadening their demographical appeal.

Let's just hope Bethesda doesn't do a half-assed job and actually makes decent ports. I'd love to have these two on the go but only if they're well done.

I remember Platinum being surprised about Nintendo's reception to Bayonetta and being so open about her mannerisms and uh... appeal.

Uh... Manhunt 2? Even when the game had to be ordered for censorship to stop an AO rating (on all consoles, not just Nintendo), that game was still graphic as hell.

Let's also not forget the Iwata era of Nintendo still allowed for Resident Evil, Madworld and Mortal Kombat (up until MK9).

Where do people get this idea from? This ain't the 90's anymore kids. Nintendo has had M rated games on their systems ever since the SNES. Not once have they never banned or denied a game from being on their consoles because of M rated content.

The only thing keeping third parties away is having to compete with nintendo's first and second party games.

Wolfenstein 2 the new colossus is a brand new game.

Last I checked people on the PS4 are enjoying crash bandicoot trilogy. Should they also wake up and demand better or are people allowed to play games that are more than one years old?

Devs don't bother properly compressing games anymore. I dunno why anyone brags about some 50 GB install on their console hard drives. BOTW can fit on the switch cartridge. So can Skyrim. I wouldn't worry about Doom. Splatoon 2 is what...3GB download? COMPRESSION FOLKS...it used to be a thing before console hard drives made it obsolete.

Ah, yes, PS4 and Xbox One games are known for being loading and compression free.

The irony is that load times on the switch so far have been almost undetectable. I can load up arms and be playing a match in no time at all.

Meanwhile you can't play a single game on the other consoles without some 20GB download first and THEN you gotta deal with the loading inside the game afterwards.

Also, cartridges are known for their merciful load times. Hell, so far Skyrim seems to have faster loading on the switch. These haters don't even know how to insult the switch anymore.

The PSP can play Doom. Was hoping for the new Doom.
