They will, if Quake Live succeeds. This was said during the Quakecon conference.

:o It's possible. Maybe Doomguy is just Commander Keen grown old. But if so, where's his pogo stick?what if.... the Doom guy was commander Keen all along? :O

I would prefer a sequel to Quake 1. Multiplayer only would be fine so long as it had an editor.
[QUOTE="blackdreamhunk"][QUOTE="dgsag"]more proff that both the 360 and ps3 is out dated and old big time!!!!Although many PC gamers criticize id for multi-plat development, it seems like the PC is still their primary love and focus.

If console game devs tryed to compete wit pc game devs well, who will look like a lazy game dev or over payed.

If they kept going with the current consoles for 8 years that'd be true, but I can't see that happening.[QUOTE="JLF1"][QUOTE="blackdreamhunk"]sony and MS will not be making a new console for another 8 years LOL

Look up the IGN Press Conference live blog. Its mentioned when they talk about Quake.
if it uses typical memory alone (1-2 gigs) then it should look better than on the 512 meg consoles.Ontain
So did Bioshock.
Anyway offcourse it will look better but the console versions will still be one of the best looking games around.
 STOP THE PRESSES!!!!!
In a related story the Earth is expected to revolve once completely on it's axis over the next 24 hours.
[QUOTE="Kez1984"]Not really surprising. What was surprising was managin to put Doom III on the xbox.IgorVitaly
Not really, it was tremendously watered down version compared to what you ran smooth on a Geforce4ti4200 or you just ran it on a 9800pro at at 1024x768 and 4xAA and 16xAF. Huge differences... I am sure they could make it for PS2 to but the bump maps would look like N64 textures and the shadows would have to be reduced greatly.
played fine on my Xbox. no real surprise that the PC will pull off better GFX.

HERE
if doom 4 is sposed to be multiples better looking than RAGE, then i dont think pcs will be able to run it, much like no one can do crysis now maxed out at a reasonable clip. They wont have very good sales if you need a 5000 dollar supercomputer to run the game.mtradr43
Doom has a bunch of rabid fans. Doom 3 was the most-demanding game of its time, and it sold over 3.5 million copies.
While I'm sure they will bump up several visual aspects of Doom 4; being a cross platform game the game play is still going to be based around consoles.
That means game levels designed around 256mb...

The visuals will be better because it will be based around 30fps instead of the 60fps in Rage, enabling better graphics with the same hardware power.

Say the Lemmings and the Cows as they cower from the Sheep.
I don't play sales, I play games. No need to cower from the sheep.
Whatever.
360 and PS3 are getting a watered down graphics port.
Wait,is this a sheep using the PC as ownage against the other consoles? That's new...
Just shows how good the PC is. Any console fanboy can just fall back on it's superiority when their console is in a rough time.

Doom's base gameplay works on both consoles and PC's equally well, since it doesn't exactly contain a STALKER like level of gameplay complexity

Yeah but anything surrounding memory will take a hit, that includes level size before hitting a loading screen.

Loading frequency isn't a hard thing to tweak for individual platforms. They just need a specific team working on those things.

They're also getting FFXIII which the PC isn't.
I don't care. 360 and PS3 owners can shut up about Wii's graphics now because they are getting a watered down graphics port of Doom 4 while Wii owners scoop up the exclusives.
The watered down port thing is fairly new to 360 and PS3 owners. As a wii owner you should be an authority on the subject by now.Doom's base gameplay works on both consoles and PC's equally well, since it doesn't exactly contain a STALKER like level of gameplay complexity.dgsag

If it was streaming I wouldn't argue, but if it is loading screens between levels like Doom 3; we are getting exactly what the consoles are getting.
Only way around it is to redesign the levels to be bigger on PC; which in cross platform development is unlikely.

This is id. The bulk of their sales and support comes from the PC fanbase. I wouldn't be surprised if the PC version has tweaks beyond just graphics.

More RAM =/= looking better.[QUOTE="Ontain"]if it uses typical memory alone (1-2 gigs) then it should look better than on the 512 meg consoles.angelkimne
Just means longer loading, smaller enviroments or pop-ups.
no it means better textures and affects possible. if you want to put the theory to test try comparing a pc game on a pc with 1gb and 2gb and the 2gb machine will let you turn more affects on
