Since he was the director of marketing, it seems that Valve may not be rolling out the Steambox as planned, which would be a very good move.

Sure. Let's abandon pretty much the ONLY gaming related market place that has experienced 100% inrease in sales year over year for the past 8 years straight. I think even the mobile space had some less than 100% increase years in that time.

I like how in the time it took me to poop a gaming industry crisis was created, ran it's course and than finished unceremoniously because of a rumor about Doug Lombardi.

Is it really a rumor when somebody says it on their own Linkedin profile?

I think Valve have sold out. Microsoft have promised Gabe unlimited pie, so he's signed a contract with them and all the staff are pissed.

Nah, that girl that was fired just stopped making him sandwiches. That's what the steam box really was, just a very nice sandwich that she couldn't get right

Quoting just to have it appear again in this thread.

Calm down everyone. False alarm.

Why is this on system wars anyway?

Let's be honest, Valve are a PC dev.

It's like people never have left a company before.

If MS and Apple can survive without Gates and Jobs, Valve can do with out good ol Doug.

I guess it isn't true, but even if it was, it probably wouldn't be a problem.

I would probably shelve the steambox too after seeing the PS4's specs.  It seams they will be beat to the punch.  Now if Sony could just work a deal with Steam oh man oh man.
