If people are anticipating it to be a flop, and it flops, then is it REALLY a flop?

[QUOTE="nhh18"]Mass Effect 2 not well written.....wow While the main plot may not be great, the characters and their stories are well written and well thought out, and really, the characters ARE THE STORY. The characters themselves are the biggest reason why Mass Effect 2 was so praised.No. Mass Effect 2 was praised because its brilliant presentation. The story was awful but the world and atmosphere were unique. The characters were based on just simple idiosynchrasies which is simply brilliant for video game writing. I am just saying that video game writing isn't near the quality compared to movies or books. But I think most movies are derivative (including most oscar nominated movies). Social Network was brilliant though. It is true bioware gets a free pass. I am still bewildered that mass effect 2 was hailed in terms of level design and story. The story was neither well written or original, and the level design was awful. Bioware is a great developer, but their games have apparent flaws that are not represented in any reviews. I don't know why but I imagine it has to do with production values and presentation which is what made mass effect 2 such an excellent game. Neither is the case for dragon age 2 but it will get a free pass for being a bioware game at sites like ign.

Think I still have a Kidney left so I can sell it for Dragon Age origins 2

Because reviews mean something right? They were probably focusing on the standout characters like mordin, garrus and thane. While ignoring the mediocre everyone else. Especially Jack, Zaeed, Samara, Jacob, Miranda and Grunt (who didn't even come close to living up to wrexx) all of who were just poorly done and generic, the rest of the cast were decent enough.

And your opinion means something right? They were probably focusing on those three characters alone? No, I read reviews where they said every character were excellent (except for Zaeed and Kasumi, since they were DLC characters). Not all of them, but quite a few.Of course, the way you enjoy the game is based purely on your own opinion, but just stop. If you're not sure whether or not what characters the reviewers focused on (based on their statments)then use you own opinion to back up your statement just makes your post look worthless.

you do know that when you argue you should make a point that doesn't negate your own. These type of comments piss me off. It is like the person who said' your an idiot'. If you want to call someone an idiot at least do it right. And your opinion means something right? They were probably focusing on those three characters alone? Yes, my opinions means as much as theirs of course. Unless random reviewer #354 carries more weight than other people. Also please.. almost all the reviews I've mentioned read give no detailed explanation of why each character was good, except for mordin and thane most of the time. I really need to question if you read some the reviews? The reason I said PROBABLY, is because everyone lumps the characters together and "LOL DEY GOOD" without explaining why and if they do thane or mordin is almost always highlighted at least from the reviews I read. Unless of course you can find some reviews that shows otherwise. But here's a tip (don't use the big reviewers I'll just save you sometime there)
I don't think that anyone would argue that this game is coming out in march and the footage shown is simply heinous. It doesn't have the combat system of dragon age but instead choose to have a kingdom hearts/dynasty warriors esque gameplay. It looks awful has mediocre graphics, and seemingly has that 'too human' feeling I have with it. I wonder how hard this game is going to tank. I imagine a 70+ metacritic, and less than 2 million sold. I think this game is going to tank unimaginably hard. Like bioware is going to lose employees because of this game.
In reation to DA2's control and presentation format, Bioware's Jade Empire says Hi.[QUOTE="Avian005"]

You and I must have read different reviews then. I misunderstood what you meant by your post, so sorry about that. I didn't use any reviewers though, I just stated I read quite a few where reviewers praised all you squadmates. I really don't see the point of attacking other opinions, I just care about my own. Who cares if people enjoy a game more than you do? No matter how you try, the game in their eyes will always be how they see it. You have your opinion, I have mine. Let's agree to disagree. So much hate and no one has played any of it. Its worse than ffxiii atleast there were FF fanboys defending it... Granted that didnt turn out so well, enjoyable but flawed, DA2 is being crucified before its seen the light of day. Still buying it, I loved the first.
I could see that. The press doesn't have a lot to say about it, which often comes before a critical flop.Cherokee_Jack
Well, besides the hardcore bioware fans, Origins didn't get a lot of hype either. And then boom, out came a 9.5.
Review wise, a properly marketed and well-hyped game that doesn't have crap polish is not going to flop.
That doesn't mean it's not going to be bad. A lot of the weaker mainstream RPGs this gen (Mass Effect 1/2, Dragon Age, Oblivion, Fallout 3) scored a point or two higher than the greatest RPGs this gen because they were polished, financially successful and advertised enough to make up for the inferior gameplay and writing. If you think that high scores/sales/other irrelevant bullcrap statistics are going to "shut us haters up", you're missing the ****** point.
Let me guess, that greatest RPG that scored lower than DA, Oblivion, FO3, and ME is the Witcher ?Review wise, a properly marketed and well-hyped game that doesn't have crap polish is not going to flop.

Flashier and more fluent animations = Kingdom Hearts gameplay? The combat system is mechanically identical to Origins, bro. Do some research before you post your ignorant, uninformed bullsh This is what I was going to say[QUOTE="nhh18"]

The game will be the RPG of the Century, it could never flop.
The biggest plothole riden game in recent gaming history is ME2. No one noticed, no one pointed it out cause Shepard is badass and awesome, and Dat Ass...
Probably the game that will have only Skyrim as competitor and no one else. There will be lots od 9.6, 9.7 and 10.
It's just like Baldur's Gate.

Well, I heard that their demos for press were confusing, because they dropped them into hard battles without really telling them how to play the game. Hopefully that's the case again this time (for DA fans' sake...I have little interest).Dragon age 1 was WAY better in ALL gaming aspects than ME2. even the combat. the combat which people are complaining was great. tactical round based rpg combat where stats did matter. if you do not like DA2 (which seems also great in my opoinion) go and play a boring Fps game with no story and all fragging. it is all abput preferance. but leave rpgs alone. you do not deserve to play rpg. you do not understand what an rpg is. people's complaints ruined ME franchise into turning it into a totally ANOTHER uneeded action game. . i am playing ME2 and i really wonder is this the best game everyone is talking about (and especially lemms)? that is all i know.the rest is bull@$#.
16 months for DA1 -> DA2 21 months for BG1 -> BG2 ...12 months for FO1 -> FO2 :O I don't really think that's going to have much to do with the amount of content in the game, especially given that they were making this before the first game released.Game is coming out too soon for me. One year of development for a sequel...I am just going to wait and buy the Ultimate Edition.
Kahuna_1
I didn't really like DA:O when I played it for a few hours, but then again I didn't like Mass Effect the first two times I bought it, but now it is one of my favourite games ever made, so I'll buy DA:O again before DA2 & give it a chance. But I digress. Despite not liking DA:O that much when I tried it, every time I see a new video for DA2, the more hyped I become. It actually looks pretty good, gameplay wise.
And it's Bioware..

The fact that you admit that are a hater is enough. You'll just be ignored. It's fine to hate though, but beyond people that like to argue, you are basically ignored anyway. If you think that high scores/sales/other irrelevant bullcrap statistics are going to "shut us haters up", you're missing the ****** point.

while mass effect 2 was SO epic as everyone says?? DA > ME2 imoI certainly hope it's a flop so Bioware can go back to making great RPGs. Dragon Age Origins has to be the most generic and lackluster RPG I've played in awhile.

Yeah, I'm a "hater" (I'm sure most people I'm targeting can understand double apostrophes, even if they can't handle the finer techniques involved in reading comprehension) if you assume that a "hater" is a person who legitimately criticizes elements that he doesn't like, which means EVERY gamer with a half-working brain could be classified as one.
Of course, people are going to sling this term at me simply because they don't have ANY point to make and just want to satisfy their "oh you said sumthin' bad about mah game, Imma get back at you" e-peen egos.
