This game is at least on par with Uncharted 2. Taken directly from my cheap-ass computer:

DA:O graphics aren't great when compared to some of the other top games like Uncharted, but they are still good and serve their purpose well.
The game dosnt have horrible graphics like the above poster said who is most likely playing it on a console, Im playin on PC at 1920x1080 Max settings 8xAA on a 22.5in 16:9 screen and it looks great/sharp and runs very smooth. I wouldnt say its on par with Uncharted 2 though. Its more in between Lotro and AoC
The visuals are adequate for whats needed in a game of this nature. If more people were to see it on a descent PC im sure theyre opinions would be conflicted.
yes, im playing on a console lol, so that probably is why :P Will be switching to the PC version 2morrow though :DThe game dosnt have horrible graphics like the above poster said who is most likely playing it on a console, Im playin on PC at 1920x1080 Max settings 8xAA on a 22.5in 16:9 screen and it looks great/sharp and runs very smooth. It looks good enough to fulfill it's objectives. Not every game has to rival crysis you know, if it does then the industry will fall apart.
You can't just compare an action game to Open world RPG.
You can only compare specific aspects (like character models) and even then you have to consider the surrounding circumstances. Uncharted 2 looks gorgeous, but its engine would crash trying to support all the resources that DAO needs. Theres a technical side that has to be taken into account when talking about graphics, its not just about what looks good on screen.
Have you even played Uncharted 2 or did you just pick the game randomly because it has been mentioned a lot? (not bashing DA)
Did someone just want to show off their handsome Rogue? Hmm? ;)
Just playing. In all seriousness, DA:O is a good looking RPG but it's not anywhere near Uncharted 2. I don't think I'd want it to, either. The style in DA:O is very nice to look at, as is Uncharted.
Graphics is not what DA is know for.Even The witcher EE has better graphics than DA.Arach666Ouch, I disagree completely. Dragon Age Origins looks way better than The Witcher: Enhanced Edition.
The game has some very average textures and some horrible backgrounds.
I played it on 8 X AA 1680 * 1050 on an HD 3870 and the character models, especially faces look excellent. some wall textures are sharp too. but that's about it.
On an IGN scale from 1 to 10 with 0.5 increments its an 8.5 or 9.0 AT BEST.
Uncharted 2, being a clear 10

Try these on. Here's a teaser:
I love Dragon Age.
I think it is Bioware's best work ever working with their own ruleset and universe, and easily the best Bioware game since KotOR.
That said, the graphics are lacking. In some places they are down right ugly, but for the most part are middle of the road, with a few high points, and some interesting design choices. Dragon Age is not even the best looking RPG this year, and far from the level of Uncharted.
I still think its a fantastic game though. In my top three of the year as a matter of fact.
haha, not even close to unchartedchadwick1343
Judging by your profile, you don't even play games on your PC, so how would you know? I played both, and I'm pretty sure that only Uncharted 2 bullshots look sooooooo much better than DA:O. The real, in-game screens aren't a million times better.

Dragon Age Origins looks way better than The Witcher: Enhanced Edition. Let´s agree to disagree. :P Character models are certainly better in DA,but the environments always looked better to me in EE.
I may be wrong though,as I don´t play the game since I finished it a few months ago.
Compare DA:O to Demon Souls to make yourself feel better.

The two games are rendered very different most of the time, the lighting and effects are just about polar opposite. Dragon Age looks best rendering indoor/close quarter environments however, so you could compare some Dragon Age dungeon maps, like say, the Elven Ruins, to Demon's Souls worlds.
If you did, Demon's Souls is quite superior in terms of graphics rendering. Much better character models, much, much better animation, better use of lighting and effects, and lots of physics, something Dragon Age lacks all together.
Like I said, it is not really an apples to apples comparison, as the Drgaon Age engine is similar to the old NWN engine in the way it maps envronments and what it is supposed to do. But, as far as simple graphics, animations, and envronment goes, Demon's Souls is a much better looking game. And yes, I'm including the PC version of DA in that statement.

You're joking. Clearly. Geometry levels and texture quality alone smashes Demon Souls. Effects like bloom walk circles around the little bloom lighting found in DS. Game doesn't even have ambient occlusion. From Software should slap some AA onto their game next time.

Your not seeing clearly. World geometry and lighting effects are much higher quality in Demon's Souls, and animations are not even on the same page. Character detail in Demon's Souls is much higher in-game than even character detail in the in-engine cuts in DA.
DA has a very low ply count render. Outside levels look downright ugly. The maps are all closed off in DA, and while some of them are larger overall then some of the Demon's Souls maps, and have more freedom of movement from one end to the other without choke points, the scale is not far off. In a lot of cases, the DA maps are much smaller, and still look inferiour.
All the character art in Demon's Souls is rendered better then in DA. More detail, higher poly characters, with better texturing on the body, armor, weapons, and with better movement, articulations, skeletal rendering, and real time model lighting to the envronment they are in. Even the freaking AA in Demon's Souls is solid, with very little jaggies, and with all the physics, there is almost zero clipping. Dragon Age is far from that.
Demon's Souls and Dragon Age are are two very different games, and the engines for each game render very different, and display different. However, even on the most basic of terms, Demon's Souls has a higher overall render quality the Dragon Age. Its not a knock against Dragon Age, or the overall quality of the game. Its just Demon's Souls visually LOOKS better, reguardless of what is being rendered.
I don't think it looks as good as U2, but it is a great looking game (well..at least on PC, I didn't spend enough time with console versions to judge them) and at least on par, if not better than Demon's Soul
