psp for fun but short lasting games and media (music and videos). The DS for long lasting very fun games. I personally play my DS a lot more but thats just me. I personally think the DS has a lot more good games. I have always noticed even if i pick up a good PSP game the SP lasts no more than a week. The DS, well, some games for months

well, just adding to my post, your icon is from MGS and they have a completely new one on the PSP, so you might wanna think about that. The main problem with getting a PSP now is that in around 2 - 3 months they are making a new, slimmer, and just better version for the same price

i actually used to own a psp, but some jackass went through my bag in class and took it along w/ my 80$ calculator. i actually got reinbursed by the school, but i bought an ipod w/ the money only because i didnt like any of the game that were coming out and i used the psp mainly for music at the time. i am curious for metal gear portable oops but what else games are there? do you recomend me buying a psp again? or should i try out the ds?

and if i do it'll probaby be the starwars version(it it a limited edition?)

Portable Ops is cool, but as a MGS fan, I've been let down by its replay value. When I leave the house and want some portable gaming, DS is usually my weapon of choice.

I say go with the DS and get Advance Wars, Animal Crossing, New Super Mario Bros., Mario 64, Planet Puzzle League, Metroid Prime: Hunters, or Mario Kart DS. These will all give you many hours of fun. The bold ones are ones I still play frequently, although PPL is still pretty new.

Just look at the games and decide for yourself, we don't know your taste in games. I'd personally recommend the DS for Advance Wars, MPH, Pokemon, the new Zelda, and many many others, but, of course, I'm a fanboy.

I u have a ps2, there's no real reason to buy a psp, more than 70% of the games are ports of ps2 games, The ds is kinda childishbut it has great games like mario kart or advance wars and the wifi is better.

as i said, those are all great games but they just don't last long. For some reason no PSP games have replay values, and the ones that do, have been done FAR better on regular consoles. I would say the only great game you posted was tekken. Its a good fighting game, but games like GTA have been watered down for the PSP, so it doesn't feel like you are getting your moneys worth. Also, the analog stick ruins all shooters and most adventure games on it. I can't believe sony didn't add another analog with the new PSP. That would have made me get a new one

one of the worst statements i've heard in a while. PSP games can easily be found on my PS2, it really doesn't have enough backbone to justify it's current pricepoint. time will tell, though.

If you like RPGs and are secure in your manliness, get one of the new Pokemon RPGs as well. Or just raid the GBA's RPG library to suplement your DS games.

Depends on your own tastes though I'd say that the DS generally has better games. If you decide to go with the PSP, you should hold off for the PSP lite. It's smaller, supposedly has better battery life and a better feel to the buttons.

DS is the better portable, PSP is the better overall gaming system. Since you mentioned an 8 hour trip, then the DS seems like the better match since it's longer battery life, no-loading times, more durable hardware, and portable-friendly games make it a much better system for being on the go.

That is not to say the PSP is bad, in fact, if I could only have one system, console or portable, it would be the new PSP with the video-out, it's a great comprimise of having a portable system with fun, pick up and play portable games (i.e. Lumines, Crush, LocoRoco, etc.) as well as deeper console like games (i.e. GTA, Metal Gear Solid, Tekken, Socom, Daxter, etc.) and with video-out you can actually play it on your TV.

However, if you already have a major home console and are just looking for a portable to compliment it, then the DS is the way to go.

Isn't it obvious by now?..... Get a PSP!...... More "sweet' games like GTA, MGS, God of War, Devil May Cry, and even Oblivion! Think about it, it'd be much better than playing a repetitive old game like Mario/Wario.

Get a DS with Final Fantasy III and/or Pokemon D/P. If you're looking for action, Metroid Prime Hunters is fun (plus if you have a friend with a DS on said trip, he/she can download play and you can battle each other without a second copy of Hunters. The downloader can only be Samus but that's not a big issue.)

I don't know, but I believe a DS Lite will last nine on the brightest screen setting. You gain a few hours every time you go lower on the brightness.

The PSP has a handful of good games, but the DS has a lot more. You can plug headphones into a DS & WiFi is easy and free from most wireless hotspots (I've had trouble at college and in hotels though). New games for each system go for about 30-40$. A single game is hard to pick out because I don't know your tastes. You mentioned you like Nintendo's titles so some all-around solid games are Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros., or Super Mario 64 DS (If you havn't played the original).

Well do you mean a story as in a stylus adventure game or an RPG? For adventure style games, Hotel Dusk & Trace Memory are supposed to be very good. Phoenix Wright & Trauma Center are also story heavy, but the gameplay is quite fun too.

If it's RPG's you want though, the DS has plenty. I'd recommend Final Fantasy III, Mario & Luigi - Partners in Time, Contact, Dragon Quest Heroes - Rocket Slime, Lunar Knights or Magical Starsign. There's plenty more on the way, and don't forget there's probably dozens you havn't tried for GBA.

Get the PSP if you want to listen to music, watch videos, do other things(lol...). But sometimes though, I regret buying a PSP. Because back then I used to have a DS(The fugly one, before the DS Lite came out), andithad awesome games. But hell, since I have a PSP + other things. I can do many fun things.

I really hope you're kidding. Unless you're referencing watching a movie on full brigthness-settings on full volume without head-phones, it won't happen. If you're talking about gaming, then it skyrockets to 6-8 hours. And yes, I have gotten 8 hours out of PSP titles, a prime example being lumines II. All you have to do is put the brightness at the lowest setting (which is still very bright) and use headphones.

yeah, most the people say the DS owns. I personally love sony, but the PSP just doesn't have the games, and whoever says it does is crazy :PEcho13791

Then I and a few other million people -not to mention reviewers- must be crazy. Sometimes I wonder if people make these statements from personal experience or from what they've read here. You said you have previously owned a PSP... are you telling me you found all of these:

Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror

GTA: LCS

GTA: VCS

WipEout Pure

Loco Roco

Lumines

Daxter

Twisted Metal: Head On

Tokobot

Burnout Legends

Ridge Racer

Populocrois

SFTB

SFTB2

boring?

P.S I'm trying to pick exclusives games that came out before MGSPO, so it would help if you would say when you got it.

I want to know something... What do DS fans think this "handful" of good games on the PSP are? Why is it that I can find AT LEAST 40 good-great games on the system, but DS fans can only find 5? So please tell me, what is this handful you constantly speak of.
