I don't see how an 8 is a flop. IGN gave it a 9.5 and for negatives, they wrote "Frame rate dips". LOL, the consoles can't even hold 30fps. Pathetic.
Just playing along with the status quo here. Anybody here thought a Souls game wouldn't get a 9?
Hmm, that would be interesting if this settled in the mid 80's, it's looking to be heading that direction.
Polygon's review mentions the game diving into single digits on the PS4.
Come on From. This is your fifth entry into the souls games. Why is hitting a solid 30 FPS so damn difficult?
In before the meltdown begins :)
Oh I know: "no more meta game; no more flops; not an exclusive; blah blah" I definitely did not see a Souls game getting less than a 9 here.

Single digits? They make good games, but jesus christ their engine and coding guys just suck ass...
Mmmm.. 8 is ok but diminishing return for the series. This doesn't bode well for Uncharted 4 lol.
Was thinking what cows might be thinking in terms of that. I'm going AAAE

Yup, but at least we are able to play Dark Souls 3 at a solid 60fps on PC. Unfortunately, Bloodborne was a write off because it was exclusive to the PS4.
What's happening with this game is what I figured people would be saying about Bloodborne, it appears that while people still enjoy it and are happy for another game, they're noting how redundant and stale things are getting.

Considering IGN gives inflated scores to anything they review, it isn't really saying much tbh
@cainetao11: First it was QB, now DS III, what's next UC4? now that would generate some clicks if it got an 8 or lower.
not exclusive
Not exclusively a 9 or better anymore LOL
It's a known fact around here that the game can't be good unless it's exclusive!
To be honest I think From should give the action RPG genre a break.
Nothing much has changed from Demons Soul's gameplay wise. It's nice they stuck to a winning formula but they are at risk of retreading old ground. It doesn't help that they keep reusing assets from previous games.l

Let's be honest here, the Souls franchise is Call of Duty the JRPG, it's the same game every time.

Well I've been correct then when I said this place is an idiot party that we all gleefully attend lol

They gave QB an 8 or better I believe. If there score is worthy on one it has to be on all or none.

To be fair that's not entirely the fault of consoles. I would say japanese publishers just use unreal engine please. Most upcoming games from japan do. Square is letting there luminous engine die with ff15 but everything else is on unreal KH, FF7 remake. That's the way to go lol.
@cainetao11: Ye and the sad part is that there are most likely people here who actually take it to heart, but hey the funnier it gets for the rest!
Just found some post. Nice info :
A : Having beaten both games, it isn't as good as BB.
Q : In which way : world design/level connectivity, atmosphere, combat???
A :
Worse points
-Combat despite being faster than other souls games is still slower than BB.
-New weapon arts aren't useful and neither is the mana bar for them. Feels tacked on.
-Boss variety isn't good. This will be the part most will talk about after the honeymoon period is over. So many bosses using flaming swords, roll roll rinse and repeat.
-Atmosphere, no area in the game has a persistent level of dread like in the later areas of BB after killing Amelia.
Same points
-Linearity, there are a few hidden areas but for the most part the next area is always a door/elevator away.
-Level design, some areas look amazing others not so much. Could have used more environmental traps like BB.
Better points
-Build variety
Well if we go by certain people's "standards" on here with games like Quantum Break, which is averaging around an 80% score and is apparently a "flop", then yeah DS3 must be a "flop" too.
Jim Sterling:
Score
9/10 (PC)
8/10 (PS4)
That shitty performance man, honestly in situations like this each version of the game should be accounted for differently...
You have a version of the game that runs pegged at 60 FPS, and two others which dip into the teens and according to Polygon possibly even single digits, why would you ever think to give them the same score?
they should stick to Bloodborne
lets hope ps4k will be good enough make up for from being technically poop for bloodborne 2
I seems like the swamp level is the new Blighttown with even a 980 struggling to be above 20fps while running the rest of the game at 60fps. Looks like From Software remains poor on the technical side.

well lets hope Durante fixes that as well for the superior version, he fixed blighttown 30mins after the release too

I think Uncharted 4 will be fresh enough where it might not get hit affected by diminishing returns. Even if it's fresh enough it may get hurt by being to ambitious like what happened to QB to an extent.
Also, the game's framerate drops into the single digits in the game. I thought the game would not be affected by framerate issues that are that severe.
@howmakewood: It's weird, since the PS4 version apparently has the worst frame rate.
Then again, I guess Dark Souls 3 would be impressive on a system whose last great exclusive was...um, last year's Souls game.
