Please state why.

Apart from fighting games, the 360 has the lock on general gaming for me.
It's my standard PC controller too :D
once dual shock 3 comes out, i would say the ps3 controller. for one it rumbles in the direction you are getting hit. at least this is what i have read about the new dual shock 3. but for now 360 for its rumble, and ps3 contoller for how it feels in my hand.
PS3. Dual Shock desing is near flawless. Best for Sports, Fighting, and Hack-n-Slash. Wanna play FPS? get a keyboard and mouse.Dylons_Fire

Dualshock 3 is a step backwards...According to Sony atleast right? ;)
Anywho... I prefer the 360's. If feels very comfortable for me. The Dualshock gets a bit...cramping I guess or whatever after many hours. And the placement of the analog sticks too is great as is the feel of the triggers.
I like the dual shock design, I'm partial to the d-pad design and feel.
However, aside from my issues with the d-pad on the Xbox 360 controller, I do prefer it's stagger layout for the analog sticks.
It's kind of a toss up and it depends on what I'm playing.
I feel comfortable holding either. The main things that make me swing towards the 360 controller are the placement of the analog sticks and the triggers.
The Dualshock does have the best D-Pad I've ever used in my life but due to the fact that analog sticks are used more prevalent nowadays, I'll go with the 360 controller.
Depends on the game, the 360 controller seems better for racing and shooter games, but I've found the dual shock to be better for.. Tony Hawk games (seriously).
Most of the time they are pretty much the same experience, just comes to which you find to be more comfortable (360 imo).
Well I guess DS3 has Motion Sensing, but no game has even come close to using that well.

Exactly, it's rare for me to care about the d-pad nowadays (sadly :(). I noticed it a great deal with Symphony of the Night (XBLA DL) though, made me crave for a controller with a better d-pad.

What about the others posters? they forgot it too.
KB/M will always be best, but between the 2, definitely 360's gamepad.
I've never been a huge fan of the Dualshock controllers; the anologues have felt very poor, they dont fit well into my hands, and the anologues feel cheap (even the revamped ones for the PS3).
The 360 gamepad has some issues (particularily the Dpad), but overall its likely the best gamepad I've used over the years, even surpassing my previous favorite, the Super Nintendo controller.

You can't use the analog stick for the XBLA version of SoTN?

Nothing to do with anything except the awesomeness of your name and sig. BWAHAHAHA!!Both good, i like the xbox's triggers though
coakroach
True that. The new L2 and R2 buttons on Sixaxis/DS3 are its biggest weakness, imo. They just don't feel right.
Other than that, I prefer DS3 because I'm used to it. I like the symmetry more.

You can, and I did. But after playing the original version on the PSX (don't ask why I DLed it again, I don't really have an answer), it really felt like a hindrance. 2D platformers just feel better with a d-pad to me.

I still play that on Playstation.:P Have you ever gave it a go with Richter Belmont? A good D-Pad is a must to pull off his vertical and horizontal lunge attaks. You can, and I did. Ah, okay.
I think Microsoft should have left out the diagonal directions on the D-pad.

How can we (the general public) tell? The DS3 isn't even out jet. :?Ezgam3r
It's sixaxis with rumble. I mean really? Have an imagination.
[QUOTE="ArcticSnake"]I would first of course like to get my hands on the DS3 considering it isn't out yet...-RPGamer-
The dual shock design hasn't exactly changed so much that we're talking about unknown territory here...
From what I understand, touchsense and I think they finally fixed that hinderence that is called "R2 and L2 triggers". Honestly, that was just a horrid idea those two buttons.
At the moment, of course the 360 controller. It just feels more natural (like the Dreamcast controller) but I really hope touchsense is as good as that small group of people that tried it out in TGS said.

The new TouchSense rumble. From what is said about it, it could take gaming to a new level. Also you have to factor in the new weight and if they change anything like the materials used and if they made the triggers feel less like their going to break off before making a good decision.[QUOTE="-RPGamer-"][QUOTE="ArcticSnake"]I would first of course like to get my hands on the DS3 considering it isn't out yet...ArcticSnake

It is not useing Touchsense
360 remote wins for me.
When I got my PS3 and used a PS remote... My hands screamed with pain. They felt contorted and slipped on the triggers that slope down (why do they slope down?). It's an outcast... Because it doesn't use the ABC's for the buttons... Instead it uses shapes.

OMG dude, dont do this, you scared me.. totaly didnt saw that one coming !
DS3. Love the PS controller.
They are basically the same in function, except that the DS3 has tilt-support. It comes down to which feels best to you really.
Oh, and PS3s d-pad is vastly better.
