Im not sure if this has been posted here, so if so, Mods please lock.

As i have stated before in a few threads, i planned on getting a PS4 day 1, and buy an XB1 controller to use with it. Im sure others are with me, but we may be in luck. The Dualshock 4 looks bigger and more comfortable, so it might be a HUGE step up over the DS3 or sixaxis controller. What do you guys think?

I'm not liking the overall girth increase in the palm of the hand area with the analog sticks where they are. Not really digging the looks of the touchpad either. That said I could care less if I think the touch pad is ugly as long as it feels good and works well. Although it does look sturdier and like it will be heavier which I prefer.

I didn't realize the sticks were placed a little further apart... that should be even better then before :)

However I'm still not sure how I feel about the touch pad or the start/select/share situation... I'm sure it;s fine... but meh

Overall, the controller looks fantastic.

How are you going to use an Xbox One controller with the PS4?

Not only is the PS4 going to lack the drivers to support such a controller the Xbox One's controller lacks a bunch of the hardware on the PS4's controller.

Don't see how that's possible. Xbox One controller lacks the motion sensor, touchpad, and the light bar.

I've heard nothing but positive feedback from multiple gaming websites. I'm sure 360 owners will be pleased with the DS4.

Pretty much agree other than that damn touchpad. I'd live to see one available without it. Oh well. Like I said as long as it feels better in my hands than the DS3. I also really like how the lines aren't as pronounced. Like the circle area around the d pad and buttons. Really glad they are finally changing the look and shape even if only slightly.

I'm sure as a 360 owner I will be pleased with it too. I will also be pleased with my Xbox one controller. Which the dual shock4 looks a lot more alike now.

Switch out the innards, do some cutting here, and sanding there, and bam! BoneS4 controller! (just model a Xbone style controller that can fit the innards of the DS4, then print it)

I think this resdesign was pretty needed and it looks great. Seems like they fixed the issues I have with DS3, like the squishy triggers and that it's too small for my giant adult sized hands.

Well. modders are pretty damn slick. Uness SONY has some tech built into their light bars for authentication reasons... but I highlt doubt that. However, I had not really thought about that, so you bring up a very good point!

I don't illegaly mod controllers, but I have seen some pretty crazy stuff... I know people who have paid upwards of $400 for a controller with mods....

I'm guessing that a comparable controller will be made and spliced together... however it might come at a hefty price tag at first.... I remember the first modded ps3 into 360 type controllers... they moved the sticks and stuff around to mimic a 360 controller but it stillused the DS case... that thing was over $200. I am sure that as time goes on that more and more 3rd party controllers will be basically 360 controllers with the necessary PS4 components, however I am not a big fan of most third party controllers. I guess we will see.

This will not affect me, because I prefer the DS, however, several people in my clan may be upset at first... I willhave to call around and see if any of them know more than I do and get back to you on that. I'm sure a couple of them just might ;)

I'm so glad they added a 3.5 mm stereo headset jack on the DS4. Now I can finally use some decent head phones without having to buy proprietary equipment.

Yeah this is usually what they do atgen start... kind of a frankensteins controller that usually goes for around $200-$300.... expensive, but worth it if you are a competitive payer I guess... some people in my clan have paid a crap ton for this type of thing. This is one of the earlier options for sure... just have to find a reliable source wih a great modder and make sure you aren't breaking any rules by using it.

That just seems like quite a bit of work. There is nothing wrong with the dualshock layout. The larger handles and more spaced out analog sticks will pretty much nullify anybody's complaints of having aligned analog sticks. It's a silly complaint. The real issue with the current Dual Shock controller is how little surface area actually contacts your hand while you hold it. The 360's controller conforms very well to your hand. Analog stick placement has a lot less to do with it.

Oh ok, I see what you mean. I am hoping that the new DS4 addresses that problem while not being too bulky. It appears that it will be a good middle ground for most. I am hoping so. I lost some good players to the 360 because they got to the point where they just liked the 360 controller better.

With Cronus. Also, not very many games have motion controls mandatory, so im sure it will be fine. I use my xbox controller on PS3 all the time.

Cronus is the main thing I was talking about too...

however, Wasdie brought up a good point about some of the tech in the PS4 controller... I think the people behind this device will figure it out though...

SO many great modding companies are vowing for the reigns right now. I'm sure they are on top of it.

We jst need to hope that the right team gets it right first... If not the price could be ridiculous.

I doubt those things are stadard tho. I dont think the lightbar will matter because the camera isnt standard, it is sold seperately right? The lightbar is the only issue but it isnt mandatory I dont think they would make touchpad/motion controls mandatory either. Should be fine.

And if so, Power A makes a ready-made PS3 controller (so im sure they will have a PS4 version) that looks like Xbox.

Not too keen on 3rd party controllers tho.

The DS4 controller looks like a huge step up from the DS3.  Until I saw the comparison I didn't realize that the controller is bigger and the analog sticks are further apart.  The biggest improvement to me are the triggers.  It looks like they got rid of the down slopping triggers and replaced them with triggers that will help keep your finger from slipping.

I know for a fact the new Killzone game implements the touchpad on the PS4 controller. That right there makes it impossible to play with anything but.

Again, it's too much work. You're best off just getting used to a PS4 controller.

Hopefully the touchpad in most games will only use the click functionality (if required at all), but if you have to use the tracking part, this could be a serious problem. Not for me, but for some.

I'm thrilled they redesigned it, the DS3 was my biggest gripe with the PS3 so I'm glad it appears the issue has been at least somewhat remedied with the DS4.

At least it looks more ergonomic, oughta be decent. Still not a big fan of the symmetrical nub design but it gets the job done.

Looks good.  Never had many qualms with DS3, but I understand its criticisms and agree that the X360's controller felt superior.

I intend to own a PS4 and will likely buy an X1 controller once PC games support it.

Looks awesome. Games like GTA 4, racing games and even RDR(before they patched in trigger swap options) were a pain to play. I out right avoided games that required extensive use of the triggers.

I feel like I'm the only one here who has no trouble with the DS3. >_> Anyway looking forward to trying out the DS4.kweeni

the DS4 looks so much better than DS3.

One thing I don't like about DS3 is that when holding the controller your fingers rest on the shoulder buttons and not the triggers, putting your fingers on the trigger is a bit uncomfortable especially when the triggers are crap. On xbox controllers the normal resting place of your fingers is on the triggers which is much more comfortable. I hope that has changed but by the looks of DS4 triggers they still don't look as good as Xbox.

Not much of a difference really. The DS4 is a bit larger which is a plus. I don't see the touch pad getting much use from games. The share button doesn't impress me. I like that it has a headphone jack. The analog sticks are nicer. I can't judge the shoulder buttons until I actually use the controller. But I would take the DS4 over the DS3 anyday.
