[QUOTE="DarkLink77"][QUOTE="Wasdie"]Then Planetside 2 comes out and mops the floor with Dust 514.
64 player matches with some interaction from the guys in EVE or 1500+ player matches over 80km battlefields on a 6000 man server.

Ah, yes, the "It has more players, so it'll be better!" argument. Yeah that remains to be seen. MAG of course boasted 256 players, but too many people refused to use mics. It broke down communication completely which is crucial in that game. The maps weren't too hot either...especially SVER ones. So no, more players doesnt necessarily mean better.Well Planetside 2 has built in VoiP, a built in command structure, outfights (just like guilds) that can work together, and has a playerbase of highly coordinated and highly motivated gamers.
The maps are also much more spread out. They aren't just 3-4 linear paths to a large objective with obstacles in the way, they are open and sprawling which encourage large amounts of tactics.
In Planeside 1 you would often see clashes of 30-40 tanks while planes buzzed around overhead and infantry fought all around them. Each side was incredibly coordinated. They would draw their resources from a pool so it wasn't just a spamfest of units. Each unit you killed had a startegic value that would hurt the enemy in some way. Each time you died it woudl hurt your side in some way.
What I find really neat is how engineers can build turrets and dynamic cover anywhere in the world. Essentially you can set up your own forward outposts away from the base and fight from. Of course, all of this requires the players to have leveled up and unlocked this stuff.
It's going to be excellent. Dust 514 doesn't have much to stand on against Planetside 2 other than the fact it's on the PS3 and nothing like it has really been done before. That's not really a recepie for success either.
