:) where in my post did i say anything about the holiday season. I was generally voicing my opinion on this gen. If any gamer seriously believes the ps3 has a weak line-up they're a fanboy. Same for the 360 but in my opinion overall its not as interesting. You gotta think about this if the 360 is so very strong why has sales slowed down considerably in europe, what could they be waiting for? in england the 360 is at the same price the ps2 was at before it sold like crazy £199.

Yea, they really turned Betamax and the PSP around.

Besides, what are they going to show, Metal Gear Solid 4 for the 100th time? Final Fantasy XIII (paying attention to the XIII)? White Knight Story looks amazing but Sony doesn't seem to be hyping it too much.

Most of the big ps3 games I am looking forward to are already announced. I guess some gameplay of GT5, FFXIII, the new Socom, will be nice but some major new IPs would be nicer.

I almost guarantee though that one of MS new announcements is the dual HD movie format add-on, or a straight up Blu-Ray add-on.

First, your opinion that the strongest part of an FPS should be its campaign has a critical implication. Are multiplayer only games like Battlefield and CounterStrike considered inferior because they do not have campaigns? I think not and I know of a huge faction of gamespot forumites (i.e. HERMITS) that would disagree with this logic.

Second, it is hard to disagree with the influence that Halo 2 had on Xbox Live. Given the vast number of matches played alone, it is extemely speculative to say that Live would still be as dominant today without Halo 2.

Your comments about PC games being free to play online is completely irrelevant to my post. I referred to online console platforms only. I made no mention of PCs.

I didnt say i hate online multiplayer hell for a while that's all i used to play in half life 2 was the mutiplayer because of the crazy levels etc... the problem i have with mulitplayer only games is the fact that they're not really saying anything.

it;s just constant carnage. Most of the people like myself who saw the halo 3 teaser were wowed by the epic scale of it all because we know the campaign will probably rock. the best kind of fps are games that have a solid campaign and multiplayer. Cutscenes give your actions weight and gravitas; they make the experiencefeel a lot more epic. On certain levels when the thememusic of halo kicks injust as a battle comes up it awesome. You can't get that in multiplayer becauseevery match is different,you cant placecues for music to start becauseeach person's experience is different; they start at different points in the map. i mentioned the free cost of pc online games to comment on which i think has more value for the consumer.
